The 2012 presidential nominee, Mitt Romney, was one of now president-elect Donald Trump's loudest critics in the 2016 election. Ahead of the Utah primary, Romney gave a scathing speech laying out several reasons for why Americans should not vote for him. He accused him of "bullying," "greed," "misogyny" and more.
On Wednesday morning, however, Romney praised Trump for his tempered victory speech. Romney, like many Republican leaders, was pleasantly surprised by Trump's tone.

In his remarks Wednesday morning, Trump did not attack his Democratic opponent. He praised Clinton for a hard fought campaign, before urging Americans to say goodbye to the divisiveness we witnessed in the 2016 campaign. Like many previously hesitant GOP leaders, Romney hopes Trump's unifying speech is a sign of things to come.
