Elitist? Who, Us?

Linked from the LA Times' web page is a quite remarkable piece of work from Norah Ephron, commenting on tomorrow's race in Pennsylvania (scroll down to read it):

This is an election about whether the people of Pennsylvania hate blacks more than they hate women. And when I say people, I don't mean people, I mean white men.

Charming, no? (What a shame -- I loved Ephron's "When Harry Met Sally").  Thank heaven all the "dividers" are on the Republican side, and that respect for normal American voters abounds among the Dems.

Well, might as well get used to it -- this is the shape of things to come.  Anyone who opposes Barack Obama's candidacy is going to be routinely characterized as a racist by many of those on the other side, because of course the only reason to vote against him (or Hillary, for that matter) would be because of racial (or gender) animus.

You have people like this proudly identifying themselves as Democrats -- and then wonder how they get a reputation for being out-of-touch?
