I am as partisan as the next Republican and when it comes to federal matters, I am not impressed with the legislative initiatives pushed by the Obama Administration and the previous Democrat—controlled Congress. Nationalized health care, stimulus funding, and endless job-killing regulations are all at the top of the list.

Recently, we have been besieged with news reports about hamburger. The question is whether hamburger containing a type of meat called lean finely textured beef (LFTB) is safe and should be part of our diet. As a mom, this naturally raises a red flag, but before anyone decides whether to sell or serve hamburger with LFTB, it is necessary to discover and clarify the facts.

Just last month, an official with Claremont McKenna College in California resigned after admitting to inflating the SAT scores of incoming freshmen to boost the college's standing in the US News and World Report rankings.
