Presentation Paradox – CANADIAN PARLIAMENT

  • We think what you mean is, freedom for the press that agrees with you.

On Friday, we had a lot of fun highlighting the desperate move to bring out celebrities in support of Joe Biden. But lost in the Hollywood shuffle was the fact that it was International Press Freedom Day, and there was one curious celebrant to be found.

Canada's Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland delivered a message touting the need for a free press.

Understand that one of the bigger problems in Canada is how much of that industry is subsidized by the government. The Canadian Periodical Fund and a variety of other tax incentives delivering 50% of journalist salaries up to $85,000 totals out to well over $1 billion annually. Complete corruption of the news industry in Canada, and hardly what you could call "free."

Then there is that portion she gave about "facing assault and persecution" that is particularly precious. It was just back in January when Freeland had her bodyguard goons step in and not only block a reporter from asking her questions, but the meathead who physically stopped him claimed to have been run into, justifying the arrest of the reporter from Rebel News. Amazing hypocrisy on display.

Stolen Validity – CNN

In a piece about the DOJ's Kristen Clarke having possibly lied while on the stand during her 2021 confirmation hearing, CNN reporter Hannah Rabinowitz seems to have committed a pair of journalism ethics violations. The story itself was first broken by Mary Margaret Olohan of The Daily Signal, yet there's no attribution or recognition from Rabinowitz. Further, she omits a key portion of the Signal report.

In the CNN piece, there is some mention of Clarke withholding the fact that she had been arrested, but the piece is fully centered on her statement – submitted to CNN – that she had been a victim of domestic abuse. Rabinowitz avoids the fact that the arrest involved Clarke injuring her ex-husband. Rabinowitz works hard to make this a "conservatives pounce" issue in an attempt to dismiss it:

Clarke’s now-expunged arrest, which reportedly occurred during a domestic dispute, quickly became a cause célèbre among right-wing media and lawmakers who claim she lied during her 2021 Senate confirmation hearing, with some calling for her resignation.

That story was actually broken by "right-wing media," Hannah, and was apparently valid enough for you to report on it. Also notable, Olohan stated she and her outlet contacted Clarke numerous times to get a comment, to no avail. Yet, after breaking the story, Clarke found a sympathetic ear at CNN and gave Rabinowitz a full statement.

Low-Octane Gaslighting – WASHINGTON POST

  • So this is what it takes to make Don Lemon look like the sane and balanced thinker...

Taylor Lorenz made an appearance on the ever-shrinking "Don Lemon Show," and yes – it went sideways about as much as you would expect.

While speaking with the host, Ms. Lorenz commented on Florida and Texas, suggesting that those states treat members of the LGBT𝜋 community just as poorly as they are treated in Gaza.

Whew…where to begin.

First, this will come as a surprise to those dolts protesting on campus and stating they are gay/trans individuals in support of the Palestinians. Then you have Don Lemon needing to reel in Lorenz and let her know she was wildly off base. (Surely inspired by the fact Lemon has been vacationing in Florida, back when he was on the air describing the place as a Covid hellscape.)

Then there is the small matter of Lorenz proving that not only has she not been to either state to witness these atrocities supposedly visited upon LGBT𝜋 members, but she also could not be bothered to simply look up details – because she would have found that there is a healthy gay population in the intolerant Sunshine State.

Reporting on the Mirror – CBS NEWS

  • We know whorehouses that could be described as more holy, Bob.

This being our completely uncorrupted press industry (ahem), we received this weekend our allotted dram of January 6 medicine. On "CBS Sunday," for unclear reasons, they felt it was needed to interview former CBS News fixture Bob Schieffer, and he was waxing mournfully about what he witnessed on January 6. Bob then intoned how he basically views the edifice where our politicians prostitute themselves out on a nearly daily basis as something on par with a religious site.

Not intending to shake Bob's devout faith in the sanctity of our political system (just yikes, Schieffer), allow me to call back to a recent event transpiring inside the Senate chambers just to underscore how un-devout the Capitol actually should be regarded in our eyes.

Both Kinds of Standards – POLITICO MAGAZINE

Something that has been readily apparent to many of us for years has been how consistently unfunny the late-night talk programs have been for years. Going back to the Obama term, there was a stance that you could not mock the president for fear of being racist, then the arrival of Donald Trump meant there were more reasons to ignore the Democrats with their mockery. Today, it is reported that the obvious is…still happening.

The late-night programs and "Saturday Night Live" will not hit Joe Biden too much at all – despite the sheer amount of material he provides – because it could aid Donald Trump in getting reelected.

Late-night talk shows – a Democrat-Free zone for 15 years running!

Anti-Social Media – ESPN

  • Will he be issuing citations for chuckling too much?!

In a prime example of a male Karen, we have Sam Block, who is said to be a content producer at ESPN. We'll just say he must be a real hoot at the office parties, teaming with the HR Department to scurry around and tell everyone their jokes are inappropriate.

This weekend, Netflix deputed the "Celebrity Roast of Tom Brady," and as is the tradition of these comedic affairs, the insults and humor were of a scathingly raw variety. Sam saw this and essentially condemned anyone who enjoyed this broadcast.

After receiving his huge share of ridicule over his tsk-tsk manner, Sam managed to double down, sounding even MORE insufferable in the process.
