The Hamas supporters in the West are bending words and using disingenuous euphemisms to peddle a message that most citizens would reject.
Jews and Arabs are both “Semitic” peoples. Why do Jews integrate into virtually every country where they live, while a certain percentage of Arabs or more generally Muslims hate their host countries? I think that it comes down to a key difference between Jewish and Islamic law. After the destruction of the Second Temple and the dispersion of Jews to far-off lands, the rabbis of the Talmud decreed, “The law of the land is the law”. Any law, rule, promulgation or decree in any place that does not go against Torah law must be obeyed. Paying taxes, driving according to the speed limit, cleaning snow off of the sidewalk, etc. are all binding on a Jew wherever he or she may live. Now, if the French National Assembly passed a law demanding that every French citizen eat pork twice a week under penalty of fine, a Jew would have to violate the law and take the fine. For some Muslim adherents of Sharia law, their law is supreme to any local law or ordinance. A Spanish imam famously wrote a book on where and how to hit one's wife (which is permitted in Sharia law) but not leave any marks so as to have problems with the police or social services.
To advance their interests and keep their goals under the general citizen radar, Islamists and their left-leaning friends in the West rely heavily on lies and euphemisms to peddle a nonexistent narrative to the locals and their governments. Below are a few of the whoppers and misdirections that are central to their pro-Hamas/anti-Israel arguments.
From the River to the Sea. The simple understanding is a Palestinian state from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea. An Apple “Genius” employee wore a map with “Palestine” written on it and the map looked strangely like the shape of the State of Israel. The river to the sea chants and signs imply two things: that there should be a Palestinian state between those two bodies of water and that the same space should be judenrein. The first point to note is that there never has been a Palestinian state—anywhere. From the Ottomans to the British to the Israelis in 1948, with Gaza going to Egypt, who ruled it with an iron fist and the West Bank going to Jordan, who incorporated it into their country. So there never has been a Palestinian-run state between the river and the sea or any place other than in their fantasies. The second point would involve making around 9 million Jews disappear. They could go peaceably—where? Or they could be exterminated like the 10/7 victims who were killed brutally in their homes. Even the Islamists/Lefties are squeamish about saying, “Hey, let’s kill 50 percent more Jews than during the Holocaust!” So, they make do with this riff. The latest version is “Back to 1947!” What, they want the British to come back to rule the place?

By Any Means Necessary. That expression sounds anodyne enough—I’ll make sure that your DoorDash delivery will be there on time by any means necessary. It doesn’t sound very threatening. But those who chant it mean that in order to create a Palestinian state where none ever was, murder, kidnapping, rape, beheading, and other forms of torture and killing are perfectly fine, as the goal justifies the means. This insidious and disingenuous expression is the basis for the Western Hamas fans never criticizing Hamas’ barbaric behavior of 10/7. Any means means any means.
Occupation. Occupation, as applied to warfare, has a very clear definition relating to victorious armies in conquered territory. One of the major justifications for the hundreds of thousands who march in favor of Hamas (does anyone remember the Palestinian Authority anymore?) is that Palestine is occupied. Anyone who knows a few years’ worth of history knows that in 2005, Israel uprooted 50,000 of its citizens and left Gaza completely. So Israel is the first country in history to occupy a piece of land without any of its soldiers or civilians in the area in question. Even in the West Bank, Ramallah, Jericho, Hebron, Nablus and other places areas have been turned over to the Palestinian Authority, leaving the “occupied" portion of the 1967 lands much smaller than before the 1993 Oslo Accords. Israel, before the 10/7 pogrom, would daily allow food, fuel, medicines, and goods to flow into Gaza with 17,000 workers flowing out into Israel to make a living. Unlike Israel, Egypt flooded smuggling tunnels under the Rafah border area between Egypt and Gaza, killing Palestinians in the tunnels and causing about one-third of the buildings in the area to collapse. There is no occupation of Gaza, but if the Islamists/Lefties see all of Israel (1948 and forward) as stolen, then in their mind, terms such as occupation and settlers apply to any and all Jews living in the state of Israel.
Just as the Hamas leadership is embarrassed by the behavior of its terrorists to the point of claiming that they did not rape, kill, burn, behead, and destroy, so too the armchair lefties and their Islamists friends cannot come out and say what they think, but rather rely on euphemisms and misdirections to peddle their message of hate and genocide. Even the filmed Apple employee above said that the massacre never happened. Long-time Jew hater Roger Waters said that it was an Israeli false-flag operation. They don’t have the stomach to simply come out and say, “Kill all of the Jews in Israel and take the land for Palestine.” Instead, they have to bend the meaning of words and expressions so as to present themselves as being in the right. They are as shameless and no better than the Hamas terrorists and their partners whose barbarity cannot be fully described in words. As a very small sidenote to the human destruction, did you know that on the day of the pogrom, Hamas terrorists killed 400 cows, shooting each one once in the head? They could have taken them back to Gaza for the meat and milk, but their total hatred of the Jews meant that everything had to be destroyed, burned down, and defiled (raping dead women). You can see a drone’s view of hundreds of cars from the music festival burned to bare metal.
The one group who cannot afford to live by euphemisms and bent explanations are the Jews in the state of Israel. The situation is one of life-and-death—the war in Gaza, the potential opening of a full-scale fight with Hezbollah, the missiles from the shoeless Houthis in Yemen and of course the continued threat from Iran. I almost fell out of my chair when I saw a picture today. Dizengoff Square is the center of Tel Aviv, the most left-leaning city in Israel. An artistic work was set up near the Agam Fountain that was in the shape of a butterfly, with pictures of murdered Israelis making up the wings. In the middle was a noose, and on the bottom, was—in Hebrew—"October Terrorists to the Noose!” This is the opinion of Israel’s formerly dovish left. The country is living through the pain and worries about 244 captives, many of them children, some of them definitely wounded on 10/7. The Red Cross, always no great friend of the Jews, somehow can visit Palestinian security prisoners but cannot find a way to check in on Israelis in Hamas captivity. With 360,000 reservists called up beyond the standing army, everybody knows someone who has been called up to fight. Israel—even its political left—does not have the liberty to live with euphemisms and highfalutin language. Israel is fighting to destroy her enemies so that she can make it to her 76th birthday next year.
Don’t fall for the lies of the Islamists and their fellow-traveling leftists. When they took American flags down in New York and defaced British war memorials on Memorial Day, they told you exactly what they want to do with the West after they deal with Israel. The time has come to fight them and not give them any place to spread their hateful messages. This is not a free-speech issue. This is a call for genocide and the destruction of Western civilization, and it has no place in modern countries. If someone suggested making Florida for whites only “by any means necessary,” he would not last a minute before being rightly investigated on hate crime charges and possibly arrested. Western leaders need to wake up and understand the existential threat at their doorstep.
