Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Sorry to break the bad news to Joe the Plumber. But the winner of Campaign 2008 is Peggy the Moocher. No matter who moves into the White House, Peggy has good reason to do a happy dance. The plain, ugly fact is that both major political parties are committed to spreading the wealth in one form or another. It's all just a question of how much and how quickly.

Who is Peggy the Moocher? She's Peggy Joseph, a voter in Sarasota, Fla., who exulted earlier this week at a Barack Obama rally that this was "the most memorable time of my life." Why? As she told a Florida reporter on a YouTube video that has been viewed by hundreds of thousands: "Because I never thought this day would ever happen. I won't have to worry about putting gas in my car. I won't have to worry about paying my mortgage. You know. If I help [Obama], he's gonna help me."

You can't blame Peggy the Moocher for viewing Obama as the superior Santa Claus. With a relentless messianic campaign, a grievance-mongering wife touting him as the country's soul fixer and a national infomercial promising to take care of every need from night classes to medical bills to rent and fuel-efficient cars, Obama effectively channeled Oprah Winfrey's Big Give.

"Everybody gets a car!" "Everybody gets a car!" And gas. And mortgage payment relief.

But the damning reality for fiscal conservatives is that John McCain's plan for homeowners underwater on their mortgages was even more generous than Obama's.

His $300 billion "rescue" involved directing the Treasury Secretary to "purchase mortgages directly from homeowners and mortgage servicers." That was on top of the trillion-plus-dollar "bank" bailout supported by both presidential candidates, the White House and the Democratic leadership; the $85-plus billion to AIG; the $25 billion to automakers; and the $200 billion in capital and credit lines to Fannie and Freddie. And who knows what else we'll be redistributing to the indebted states of New York, California, Massachusetts and all the other Peggy the Moochers, large and small, lining up for their piece of the bailout pie.

McCain assailed massive government spending -- while promising to heap on more massive government spending to pursue home ownership and retention at all costs. It was the Republican, not the Democrat, who entrusted the Treasury Department to renegotiate individual home loans and become chief principal write-down agents for the nation. Both private and public entities are planning for a McCain-esque homeowner salvation plan for borrowers in the red.

It's a swell idea for everyone who bought overpriced homes with Adjustable Rate Mortgages. Those who rented, bought within their means or locked into fixed-rate loans that they could afford are out of luck, naturally. The only sane thing to do in response? Stop paying your mortgage and get in line.

"E Pluribus Unum" is no longer our national motto. These three words are: "Do For Me." As in: What will the government do for me?

On Election Day, the federal government quietly reported that it will borrow a record $550 billion in the current quarter to fund the bipartisan bailout. The Treasury Department plans to borrow more than a half-trillion dollars in the current October-December quarter and another $368 billion in the first three months of next year.

Estimated total for the whole year: $1.4 trillion. Democrats plan to add another $500 billion in "stimulus"-palooza legislation. Credit card companies, utilities, insurance companies, and car loan and student loan debtors await their turn.

The bailout bonanza blurred the differences between the two major political parties, but the Peggy the Moocher video shows there are still basically two starkly contrasting views of government in this country among the rank-and-file electorate. Unlike Joe the Plumber, Peggy sees government as her salvation and the president as her subsidizer-in-chief. She voted with the expectation that the Spreader of Wealth will reward her with payback. Joe just wants Washington to leave him alone to fend for himself.

Politicians and service to others
One must be able to give without expecting any thing back. Must be able to look in the mirror and not lie to himself/herself. Must be able to realize that truth is not what you make out to be. Must be able to recognize when one makes a mistake, and be able to say sorry, sincerely. These must be at all times, in all places and under all circumstances.
If we can find ONE Politician with the above characteristics, we can rejoice and celebrate.
No one has stopped to think how evil Politics is, everyone seems to accept it. It has progressively wreaked havoc, but no one cares.
Man's position in life will improve, only when
Politics and Political correctness are banished outright. Whatever man does, it is impossible to make good out of evil.

More than one moocher
Peggy the Moocher reminds me of a young African American man who boasted at a local fast food place that when O becomes the prez, we will be able to eat here for free. Now is Obama giving out free meal coupons to Burger King?

rectal exam
Maybe the MSM will give her the same kind of scrutiny they did Joe the Plumber, eh?

Winner Takes ALL
Peggy... you make an excellent point. The way the Electoral College works now, city centers dictate which candidate will get a states votes.
This is unfair & lacks real representation.
A California legislator proposed a solution. He said two of each states electoral votes should go to whomever wins that states popular vote. Then each legislative district in that state would award its electoral vote to whomever won THAT district.
Check the idea out. It actually works out numerically & it would award votes according to the wishes of each legislative districts voters.
In PA.. two to the overall winner & 19 to be divided up according to the nineteen districts & how each of them vote.
Now THAT would really elect a president or member of Congress according to the will of the people.
Think about it!

I am such a FOOL!!!
I can't believe I went out of my way to buy a reasonable house with a fixed rate mortgage that I could afford!

That PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY

Fake Candidates
Sure conservatives voted for McCain. They wanted to avoid an Obama. Reason enough & reasonable enough.
McCain was NOT the choice of conservatives. Republicans had large numbers of cross-over voters in the primaries who had been Democrats or supposedly independents, just weeks before the primary elections. Looks like the tactic was to make sure whomever the Republicans put up, they would be weak enough the Democrat could beat them, because those weak candidates represent almost everything Democrats represent.
But we will still be here in 2012 & beyond, as we now prepare to rebuild our America which we expect will be severely damaged over the next years of Democratic rule.
Threats of speech suppression by re-imposition of the so-called "Fairness Doctrine," along with regulations on the internet to "edit" content as per Speaker Pelosi's comments, will be one of the areas needing repairs.
National defense will suffer if Barney (I blocked all Republican proposed regulations of my generous Democrat campaign contributors Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac over the past six or more years) Frank, has promised to eviscerate the defense budget. Now I know, according to our leftist buddies, the whole terrorist thing is a sham. They think America will not be in peril since Barack is here to save us. In the real world.... we will be attacked & we will have to face fighting those who would murder us all in the blink of an eye. W/o many of the tools & personnel needed to deal w/ those attackers, these next few years will be troublesome. But we will stand up to those who would destroy America, & we will rebuild the nation & military so we can stand up to any & all threats.
The good news for America is conservatives, who have worked for over 200 years to build America, will still be here to rebuild America after our socialist buddies do their best to make us as mediocre as any other gwat socialist third world nation.

Barr was right!
This column is spot on. However, it’s exactly what Bob Barr was saying in his campaign. Too bad most of you conservatives got too caught up in party politics to vote your conscience in this election.

Next bailout
I wonder if the Vegas casinos will be standing in line for the next bailout after Peggy darling (bloomberg today below)

Nov. 6 (Bloomberg) -- Las Vegas Sands Corp. plunged in New York trading after saying it may be in default of some loans if it can't raise capital, threatening its ability to keep operating ``as a going concern.''

Maybe under the messiah the casinos and players both win! SURRRRRRRRRRRE!!

Michelle
Let's find that American Dream that made this country so great and could keep this country great!

http://TrueBlueAmerican.blogtownhall.com/2008/11/05/needing _a_miracle_on_main_street_what_should_we_do_now!_2.thtml

Michelle is Dead on Target!
My wife and I agree with the last comment, she has even said something about moving out of the country. We, America, are losing touch with what made us great...and thank God for Michelle and Ann Coulter, they believe in telling it like it is! Michelle, I want your autograph, you are a true American!

The mindless masses
BO is truly the Emporer with No Clothes and time will take it's toll on this phony. He's a true narcissist and it will be his downfall. He can hire tons of handlers but they won't be able to prop him up to deliver all the promises he's made.

I laughed when I saw the video of this woman - she really believes BO is going to be at the gas station to pump free gas into her car and to pick up the mortgage coupon book and make those payments for her.

The wealthy are already reorganizing their investments to reduce or avoid anticipated tax changes proposed by BO. The masses at the bottom have their hands out for the "promised check" and the middle class will be RAPED again. It's the same old script. Like the movie Groundhog Day.

Tighten your seat belts - the slow down in the economy will get worse - anticipate "skidmarks" when BO starts his new communista administration.

You Go, Michelle
As usual, Michelle nails it. I only wish she'd said more!!

This election confirmed ONE Great Fear I've had for some time: That the "dumbing down" of America is FAR WORSE than I thought!! FAR FAR FAR WORSE, in fact!!

That people actually "buy into" B. Hussein Obummer's "Bill of Goods" is Beyond Scary!!

I am looking to move out of the US. Never thought I'd say that. I love this Country...BUT...sadly?? I don't recognize it anymore.

Besides, one Mr. Thinks-He's-The-One-Messiah takes office, the US will look just like the rest of the world, and in fact...some places will not only LOOK better, they'll BE better!!

Hasta La Vista, B. HUSSEIN!!

BS
We probably would have still lost but, why are Nebraska and Maine the only states that aren't winner take all? Especially in large states i.e CA 55 NY 34 FL, I know many people who don't vote because they know the city decides all

can't beat em join em
I'm going to go get a foster kid so I can spend all the money the government gives me on alcohol, drugs, and bling for myself, then since I'm not married I'm going to stay that way and get knocked up so I can double down on the govenment assistance, I am pretty tired of using my pesky paycheck at the supermarket so food stamps will work better. Then I will file for disability since drug addiction is covered. Tired of being a sucker, well, if you can't beat em join em!

Peggy's fault
"But she was begging for it, your Honor!" Said the rapist to the judge.

Rapist: Wall St.

Judge: You guys until you can figure out how to win. (Clue: stop being judges.)

Peggy the Moocher
There is something called political efficacy. When expectations are high, and those expectations are not met, there is a higher degree of dissatisfaction than of those with lowered expectations with the same outcomes.

So the question is: Will the Peggys of the world be disappointed if and when she does have to worry about her mortgage? I'm not asking for prosnostications but want to point out that the expectations have been set ridiculously high, even for a presidential election.

Hal Donahue, wiseone, Mod Mark
Hal Donahue:

You said about the process of arresting Bush for extradition to The Hague, "I would be EAGER to collect him...".

Of course, you're not president or even president-elect, but I forget, don't I, you COULD try it as a private citizen, a la Dog The Bounty Hunter. And a lot of the crowd here at TownHall would probably be cheering you on to make such an attempt. We'd even promise you a nice funeral there in Scranton once the Secret Service sent what was left of you back home in a box.

wiseone:

You said, "The problem is OPEN primaries.....I would like to see our party conduct closed primaries where only registered party members in good standing can vote".

I said the same thing in my last paragraph of my 8:44 pm post.

Mod Mark:

I would have voted for Guiliani, too, even with all of his social liberalism, instead of McCain if by the Missouri primary, Romney had dropped out but Guiliani was still an active candidate. But if Guiliani's campaign was too weak to survive a few early primaries without winning one, then I would STILL say that it showed a fatal flaw in his campaign which would have proved him just simply not up to the grind of a campaign season in which he could expect to be constantly tested.

MyOpine
"Democrats were not so tolerant of Joe Lieberman."

Exactly. And Liebermann was 95% far left liberal. The only thing he disagreed with them on was the Iraq war and they kicked him out of their party for it; nominated some incompetent rich hack.

Then, after he won re-election anyway as an independent they insisted on counting him in their caucus out of flaming hypocrisy and their addiction to political power.

How quickly they forget that 29 Democrat Senators voted FOR this war in October of 2002 and only 21 voted against it. But that was just a couple of weeks before an election and the polls were showing 65% support for invading Iraq, so...

'Nuff said.

I thought this column was about ...
Peggy Noonan

To the Point
I voted for McCain, but in retrospect I don't know why. Michelle is absolutely right. From the Wall Street bailout to the mortgage bailout scheme, McCain would be just another big spender.

Let the fools on Wall Street pay their own dues for their own ignorance and let homeowners pay for their own mistakes. Don't ask the government or other taxpayers to do that which you should do for yourself. Live within your means or work to expand your means, but do it yourself.

The military is in trouble
I have a strong hunch, based on a position of personal experience, that our brave military personnel will not resepct Obama as their Commander in Chief if he even attempts to make good on his numerous promises to surrender in Iraq and invade "Pockistan" in violation of our treaties their.

The Middle East Terrorist groups must be laughing their butts off at us because the people just elected the spineless coward that they endorsed to become our next president.

Thanks Gunny G.
I wanted to add...,Barry Dunham's win is a smack in the face to EVERY soldier who has sacrificed to keep us safe since Sept. 11, 2001.

In the long leadup to the culmination of this election I have read many posts from what some here call trolls. They have no idea that....., for every anti Bush diatribe they posted, there was some soldier walking around in 135* weather wearing pounds and pounds of heavy protective gear, who were protecting their right to spew their crud.

They were not expecting a Thank You..,but they were not just smacked, they were spit on!

wiseone
It seems like every time we get a chance to get rid of a RINO, they all band together to help him.

Arlen Specter was in trouble during the 2006 primaries and Bush ran to help him.
I would dearly love to put a footprint in the seat of Bush's pants for that!

Until we get rid of Leftist crap like McCain, Specter, Olympia Snowe, etc., the Republican Party will continue to get blamed for the actions of "Maverics".

"Maveric"?
That is another Leftist spin word meaning traitor to your Party.
Notice how only Republicans can be a "Maveric"?
Democrats were not so tolerant of Joe Lieberman.

Standshisground
"Date: Nov 5, 2008 - 6:02 EST Subject: Hal Donahue
To the best of my knowledge, the U.S. has extradition treaties with various governments around the world - but do we have one with the World Court itself? I doubt it."

We do and use it LOL

"...He could make the issue even simpler and simply not leave the U.S. altogether as a private citizen; since he'll no longer be president, and now already having seen a good bit of the world, I doubt it would be much of a sacrifice to him. And thereby force any president who succeeds him to have to arrest and extradite him."

I would be EAGER to collect him...

"But this is idle speculation: as much as many Democrats would love to see the same sight as you of George Bush sitting in the dock at The Hague for some of his policies in our fight against terrorism, I think cooler heads would prevail in the Democratic Party if its leadership even ENTERTAINED such a notion. If Nancy Pelosi could not even bring herself to push impeachment proceedings against George Bush when she had the numbers in the House to at least flirt with the idea, no WAY would the Democrats DARE to try such a step that would be fraught with HUGE hazards for them as a party both immediately and in the future. I can't think of any better way to earn them a label they'd never shake off as being VERY soft on terrorism than to pursue this course. Not to mention the very real possibility of the Democrats courting being hoisted on their own petard in some future day when a Republican succeeded a Democrat in the White House.

Standshisground
The problem is not winner-take-all primaries.

The problem is OPEN primaries where Democrats and liberals can legally cross party lines to vote for the weakest Republican in the race (like they did this year for McCain).

Caucuses, where party delegates are permitted numerous ballots and two weaker candidates can "team-up" to defeat the strongest candidate in a particular state, as in WV this year, are a lesser problem.

I would like to see our party conduct closed primaries where only registered party members in good standing can vote.

youth vote
obama won 66% of the youth vote because he understood the internet and how it worked as a social force.

my son is 18 and voted in his first election.

he was contacted by obama campaign daily the past month through facebook and myspace.

everybody on those two social networks could "donate" their status category (a feature that tells friends you are studying, sleeping, whatever) and obama would use it to advertise where he was campaigning and how to get tickets.

most youth have friends on facebook numbering in the hundreds and so everyone connected to him saw an advertisement for obama every time they looked at his web page.

obama sent out 1.5 million text messages yesterday reminding youth to vote.

this is also the way he raised so much money.

he connected with 100 million people over the intenet and asked them for 5,10 or 20 bucks.

if even half of them donated, just do the math.

he ran a 21st century campaign while mccain ran a conventional 20th century one.

Ever notice?
That the media had a frenzy over Romney being a Mormom to the point that Hollyweird produced "September Dawn" to re-inflame anti-Mormon bigotry after 150 years?

Then WHY was O'Vomit off limits? He even slipped on air with Stephanopoulis about "my Muslim faith". Steph swears it was a slip caused by all the chatter about his being a Muslim. Suuuuure.

Response to Mod Mark
Re: Young voters

1. If they can't think any more logically than you did when you posted your question to me I don't want them. Go back and re-read my post. I said I want the GOP to die. Your question should have read "Can the new Conservative Party attract younger voters while pushing the social conservative agenda?

2. Answering the question you should have asked; Yes. In fact, many "young voters" are very conservative. Year after year the Battleground Poll shows that 58-63% of the population consider themselves to be either "Very conservative" or "Somewhat conservative".

Do we want your son? Yes. But we're NOT going to change our anti-abortion policies to get his vote. As for religion, I myself am not religious. I don't even go to church on Christmas. And I am one of the most conservative people you will ever 'meet'.

Your post reveals flaws Mark. Inattention to what I wrote, brought on by failure to get the main point; use of self-centered anecdotal information to make the wrong point; and a presumption that all "social" conservatives are religious.

The new Conservative Party will not have "social" conservatives, "fiscal conservatives, "big government conservatives", or "neocons". The new Conservative Party will have conservatives of principle, period.

And in case you're wondering what the new Conservative Party's position will be on abortion, it's this. It's an issue that should be decided by the individual states. Roe vs. Wade was an abuse of judicial authority. That means the SCOTUS had no business declaring legalized abortion as the law of the land. The new Conservative Party will nominate constructionist judges who understand the concept of judicial restraint. And we will kick traitors who bargain away our ability to get them confirmed (like McCain) out of the party.

I hope that answers your question.

How long will they wait?
The tests will come.
President ACORN is a sissy on National Defense.
He has the backing to disband our military.
Will they wait that long?
How many will have die needlessly?
Prime targets are all heavily populated by Democrats.

Never fear, President ACORN will make disarmament treaties with worshipers of Allah, whose only Prophet Muhammad preached that making false treaties was honorable if it helped to defeat your enemy.

Disarmament treaties?
Can anyone name even ONE (1) Nation that has ever honored a disarmament treaty in the past?
Even America entered WW2 with two outlawed pocket hulled warships.

Anyone who would gamble the security of America on treaties is insane.

Mod Mark
I actually DID vote for Romney, in my state's primary.

I've never been a fan of this "proportional representation" system - and still aren't. After all, with the exception of only a couple of U.S. states (like Nebraska and, I think, Colorado), in presidential elections, winner-take-all for a state's electoral votes is the system we've been using for a couple of centuries. It was a system America was used to for alloting delegates - and didn't seem to have any issues with - long before the first presidential primaries ever appeared.

Of course, if the Democrats had the winner-take-all system in THEIR primaries, or at least most of them, I think Hillary Clinton would all but certainly have wound up as the Democrats' nominee. So you know SHE isn't a fan of "proportional representation" either.

As far as I'm concerned, if a presidential candidate's campaign is so weak that it can't survive a defeat in the first primary of the campaign season, or even the first two or three, than that candidate isn't a truly viable candidate. A primary campaign season is a marathon; if a candidate is built as strictly a sprinter, then that candidate didn't have the right stuff for such an endeavor.

Right now, there's only one major change I'm in favor of making to presidential primaries, in all the states: end the system of "open" primaries. Why should registered Republicans have the ability to decide the Democrats' nominee - or registered Democrats to decide the Republicans' nominee?

Well, you and I finally found something we can agree on, that,s a good thing. I know, I may not fit the total brand, interms of social conservatatism, but The Republican party is supposed to be a big tent party. These days, not so much, I feel like an outcast, just because the Bible wing of the party, thinks that I'm the Idiot. It seems fair, that a secular part of the party should have a say as well. I don't like where religion has taken the party.

For Russ
"... think BHO was elected by the Independent swing voters that almost never vote along consistent party lines. I also wonder if many Conservatives did in-fact sit this one out, because the turn-out numbers look light..."

Try these numbers. McCain got only 89% of the Republican vote and only 78% of the conservative vote.

Conservatives deserted McCain in droves, either by not showing up at all, going third party, or voting for Obama as self-styled but badly mis-informed Conservatives In Name Only.

McCain turned out to be every bit the disaster as a Presidential candidate that we feared.

McCain has inadvertently started an important job; the death of the Republican Party and the replacement of it with a new Conservative Party. Instead of trying to convince weenie GOP RINOs and CINOs to back conservatives and conservatism we can now start fresh with our own Conservative Party and tell the weenies to check their PC platitudes and 'centrist' and 'independent' credentials at the door.

And when they object we will "McCain" them. Let the word "McCain" hereafter be used to identify the process of handing political power to radical leftists by being a weenie that won't identify the radical leftists as radical leftists.

The loss is no big deal to McCain of course. He goes back to his Senate seat and all of the 'comity' that goes with it. It's the rest of us, who will have to live with higher taxes, a shrinking economy, and a revival of violent Islamism that will suffer.

How long will it be before McCain helps break a GOP filibuster by crossing the aisle on something truly despised by conservatives, like amnesty for illegals?

I'll take June of '09 if anybody's starting a pool.

Hopefully, the Obama win not only got rid of RINO McCain in particular but ALL RINOS in general that the Republican Party might even CONTEMPLATE running as its presidential candidate in any future presidential campaign.

MC sayz:
We must rebuild or start a conservative party.

I go with starting one. If we do and we only have one candidate, the libs can NOT hurt us in the primaries by choosing a person that will lose.
Think we can talk Jindal and Palin into switching to a stand up party?

Now that the libs
got their orgasmic night and tingling sensations runningup their legs, don't think for a minute that the majority of dumbacratic voters knew who this guy really is, what most of the issues were. What should we expect when they bus high schoolers and predominately black college kids to the polling stations? Yes, strategy & numbers helped the socialist win. But beware ye blinded followers of the messiah!! Remember what happened in Jamestown, Guyana???? Over 900 blind "followers" drank the KOOLAID because they beleived as well.

I smell a rat. I do believe that early voting may have turned into ballot box stuffing.

Also, let's end this love affair with voter fraud rife "early voting!"

You show up on election DAY or file absentee OR NO VOTE!

Gunny. Principled Conservatism.
Couldn't agree more. I wish McCain had some of it. But wishing won't help. We must rebuild or start a conservative party. One or the other.

GunnyG, Motley Crue, and others
This is what we get for letting states having "open" primaries and on different days.
McCain was chosen to lose and the only reason he came as close as he did was due to Mrs. Palin being chose for the VP slot.
I say we set her and bobby up to run in 2012 and close the open primaries.
Well that and continue to cut the dead and double registered persons from the voting rosters.

highstrung
Agreed. I am a staunch Conservative, and NOTHING should be done that IS NOT in the Constitution as it was written, not as the libs want it to read.

The RINOs day is done. Come back to the light. You'll feel better.

O.K., you make a good point. Ha ha ha ha ha, fair enough, but there was clear message sent. I'm not a tin foil hat wearing libtard. I confess to being a lib. on social issues, but I'm a staunch fiscal conservative, quit beating me over the head with social issues, and talk monetary policy.I don't care about the Bible junkies. I care about what really makes this country work, foreign and economic policy. Conservatives should quit pandering to the religous nuts. Say what you want about me, I don't care. I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints. Start running this country, the way it need's to be ran.

Good post!

You gotta wonder where the anger will go when the promises fail to materialize.

As we rebuild the Conservative Party, the pandering liberals have to ante up to the "gimme-gimme" crowd.

broshow;
Obama and Company are about as centrist as Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov was.

Peggy the Moocher
is the face of 51% of Americans. I'm glad I have chosen to be semi-retired so I don't have to try to build a nest egg in a socialist country. It is the naive young people who voted for Obama whom I feel sorry for. They think Obama is the savior, when it is nothing further from the truth. All the programs he is proposing, totalling trillions of dollars, will be paid for by, you guessed it, the young people. As an old geezer who will benefit greatly from Obama's giveaways, I thank the younger generation. Suckers!!!

To broshow
The last real Conservative president was Reagan.

America is centrist politically and generally likes to keep things in-check. It seems to me that one of the really historic things that happened it that we swung a little far to the left thing time around.

However, most (something like 63%) Americans when asked are socially and economically Conservative.

I assure you that many Conservatives dis-like GW Bush for the spending the government has done, but liked the Hawkish policies he helped put in place.

Lastly, it's currently just a matter of speculation right now, but I think BHO was elected by the Independent swing voters that almost never vote along consistent party lines. I also wonder if many Conservatives did in-fact sit this one out, because the turn-out numbers look light given the weather and other factors like dead voters :-)

Peggy and Barry
We do not need to over intellectualize the Barry Dunham win. The Baltimore Sun said it all.

Their Headline: Youth Vote and Minority Vote comes through for Barack Obama...,A New Majority is created.

I do not think there was ANYTHING that McCain or Palin could have done to change the results.

Thanks to the "WISDOM" of the youth and their minority Peggys we have put Jimmy Carter back in office.

highstrung. Re Christians and Tolerance.
I do not claim to be, nor have I ever come close to being a Christian in the true sense of the word. rather an agnostic, I think. I must plead guilty however to being intolerant...of rapists, murderers, pedophiles, homosexuals and all others who affront society with their repugnant behavior. Sorry. But that's how it is.

This
People like Drunkahue, wrightsrong52, highstrung and others prove this country needs a serious colon cleansing.
Will the last Constertaive out please PLEASE FLUSH!

LMFAO hic! (not used with blubberbutt the seatbuffers (OR Left tAngle’s), permission, because I will NEVER ask for it!)

FYI, Christians are very tolerant thank-you.

I really think if there had also been a Prop in CA for Civil Unions to be recognized, then I believe that would have passed.

The majority of people in this country want the term Marriage to remain defined as it traditionally has been. At the same time, many large corporations have already recognized Civil Unions literally, or for all intents and purposes.

If a segment of the population wants to ensure that equal treatment is mandated by law, through much hard work, they will likely be successful doing so.

However, redefining things (like "In God we Trust") that CLEARLY came from Judeo-Christian origins, is not acceptable to the majority of people in this country.

broshow
Yeah, things like low taxes, self-responsibility, strong defense, small government, a free market economy, and that people are actually ALLOWED to make their own way in life are bad things to you libs. Hope you enjoy ilfe under Barack. How did the Annoited One say it last night? “WE ALL have to sacrifice.” Guess that means no reparations.

@Motley Crue
O.K. fine, I'll quit giving the Bible beaters a hard time. The only reason McCain did't get my vote was the nomination of Gov. Palin. MY GOODNESS, I understand that many people in this country are sick and tired of a bunch of Ivy league blowhards running this country into the ground, but for goodness sake, Gov. Palin was clearly way in over her head. She was in no way ready to be V.P. of this country. The Republican Party is no longer the party of small Government, or fiscal responsibilty, this administration clearly demonstrated that. Hell, I'm 45, the first President I ever voted for was Reagan, it is fair to say he had his share of problems as well. TRICKLED DOWN ECONOMICS, does'nt have great history either.

Oh just shut up
Looks like a couple of Townhallers are going to be working on an ulcer over the next four years.

'Principled Conservatism'? You've got to be kidding. If anything is clear by now it is that this country is predominantly centrist. Liberals and neoCons are the edges and they are the primary force in their respective parties so we have a pendulum that swings back and forth and it has nothing to do with a better defined message. If there was a true moderate party, they would win most of the time. The voters after eight years of conservative leadership with disastrous results made a decision to start swinging things the other way. In four years if this administration has gone too far to the left, they will be voted out.
The two party system does not offer much of a choice for most.

WHAT! You mean, it was all lies!

BWHAHAAHAHAAHHAHAHAHA!

What till the welfarites get a taste of THAT!

The Conservative Resistance Movement
gaining ground at the Anti Liberal Zone.

Time to serve UP to the left what they have been serving up since "they wuz robbed" in 2000!

HANDOUT DEMOCRAT WIN RACE
BEFORE OBAMA START HIS GREAT GIVE AWAY I PRAY THAT HE ACTUALLY REMEMBER SOMEONE HAS TO GO TO WORK BEFORE HE CAN COLLECT TAXES. IF HE IS GIVING AWAY CARS, GAS, HOMES, HEALTH CARE, WELFARE, TAX BREAKS FOR PEOPLE NOT WORKING WHO WILL BE PAYING FOR THIS. THE WEALTHY LIKE OBAMA ALREADY HAVE THEIR ASSETS HIDDEN. SO THAT LEAVE THE MIDDLE CLASS TO SUPPORT THE OBAMA GROUP HIDING THEIR ASSETS IN LEGAL SECURITIES AND THE WELFARE RECEIVERS OF THE POVERITY OPPRESSORS.

Jindal/Palin 2012.

Strips the race and gender card from the libs.

Motley Crue
The LAST so-called "moderate" RINO lost in New England.

The libs fail to note that when Conservatives run on Principled Conservatism, they kick butt. When they blur the lines, with, as Reagan put it, pastel colors, they LOSE!

2012 Ticket
Sarah Palin for Prez.
Joe the Plumber for VP.

Should be a winning ticket.

CONSERVATIVES CAN BE GRATEFUL

.....FOR ONE THING ...

.....That Obama got rid of RINO McCain ...probably the worst representative of conservatism that the GOP ever ran for President ...

.....What the GOP needs is someone who isn't afraid to pull out a can of Whup @ss when the Libs get out of line .....COLOSSUS

Standshisground
You'll notice that Hal Drunkahue has nothing to say about trying Hanoi John Fonda-Kerry, Nancy Piglosi, or Carter under the Logan Act.

McCain and McCain alone
was responsible for losing this election. HE, not Christians, chose his advisers. HE, not Christians, made the choice as to how he would campaign, and as usual his choices were completely boneheaded and out of touch with the conservative base of the party. So much so that many of us on the right would never have voted for him had it not been for the addition of a real conservative as his running mate. Even so, many on the right did not vote for him, and as a result he lost. The conservative wing of the GOP, whose voices were virtually ignored by McCain and most of the elite leadership, will now have to endure the results.

wrightsrong52
Actually, the Gov of Virginia was on the radio this AM and stated that VA was not a Blue State and far from it.

Were you and your "life partner" upset that gay marriage was being voted DOWN normal people?

To the best of my knowledge, the U.S. has extradition treaties with various governments around the world - but do we have one with the World Court itself? I doubt it.

Of course, if some government (say, the government of The Netherlands) were to indict Bush so that he could be sent to The Hague - well, then I guess, it's a different matter.

Yes, you're right that if Bush ever went abroad after leaving the White House to a foreign country, he would be at risk. Although I would imagine that if Bush leaves U.S. soil after January 20, he will take care to ensure that any country where he would be going would not arrest and extradite him.

He could make the issue even simpler and simply not leave the U.S. altogether as a private citizen; since he'll no longer be president, and now already having seen a good bit of the world, I doubt it would be much of a sacrifice to him. And thereby force any president who succeeds him to have to arrest and extradite him.

But this is idle speculation: as much as many Democrats would love to see the same sight as you of George Bush sitting in the dock at The Hague for some of his policies in our fight against terrorism, I think cooler heads would prevail in the Democratic Party if its leadership even ENTERTAINED such a notion.

Hal
Proof that BDS is not quite beat by this election. Do you agree with the idiot Iranian guy at WashPost that called for Bush and Cheney to resign before January 20th? I'd like to see him ask for Aquavelvaman's resignation and see where that gets him!

GET OVER IT, HAL! Bush will be out on January 20th, you have your Messiah and you will have to lie in the bed you made. Good luck with that!

Oh Well...lookin forward to 2012
I have to say yes that I voted for McCain, and yes I was let down, but I can say that I am excited in the "different" ness of this election. I don't think Obama is the devil I just horribly disagree with his policy. What is even more scary is that we now have a Democratic Congress (both house and senate) and a Democratic President, I can deal with Obama and respect the office but Pelosi and Reid too??? Agghhhhhh...

now lives in the BLUE state of Virginia.
That sounds real good. Still living in the 80's I see. Did you cry all night holding your Ronald Magnum action figure?

BTW, just to highlight a spanking, Ronaldus Magnum SPANKED Karter, 43,903,230 to 35,480,115 with 489 EV to 49 EV.

Now THAT is a spanking.

"You folks got spanked last night"

Before you start short stroking it, the Mystical Magical Negro (LA Times said that) won by only 7 million votes nationwide.

Spanked? Not hardly. And WHO KNOWS how many of those votes are faked by ACORN?

"GW is no different than any other Yank who commits felonies abroad."

Yank? FINALLY we get the truth. Hal Drunkahue was a wing wipe in the BRITISH RAF!

No wonder we could not find you on military.com.

Also, idiot, CONGRESS approved EVERY move Bush made and the Senate, complete with your buddy, Hanoi John "I voted for the war before I voted AGAINST it" Fonda Kerry and the rest of them approving it.

But please, continue to have your DT's on our time.

@ Motley Crue
Nice choice of words, but no, I don't need a sedative to ease my trembling rage. I think maybe, some of you folks do, I mean, look at the things you folks are posting. CHRISTIANS AND TOLERANCE, WHAT A JOKE, CHRISTIANS ARE SOME OF THE LEAST TOLERANT IN THIS COUNTRY. You folks got spanked last night, and all the moaning in the world is not going to change anything. What we witnessed last night was a tremendous shift in the electorate, it happened for a reason, that reason should be evident, but it seems, that it isn't evident to a lot of people on this site, your supposed to be smarter than that. Your angry I get it, but all the anger in the world isn't going to change anything. YOUR PARTY LOST, YOU LOST BECAUSE YOU DESERVED IT. YOU FORGOT WHAT THE PARTY WAS SUPPOSED TO STAND FOR. THAT IS A FACT, AND YOU KNOW IT.

Gunny. It was all those racist rednecks
who re-elected Murtha. Maybe he was running against a black guy.

"By the by, you still haven't answered my question: what U.S. law presently on the books would allow the Obama Administration to arrest George W. Bush once he's out of office and turn him over for trial to an extra-national entity like The Hague, as you apparently like to fantasize about (when you're not mentally replaying the Phillies' World Series win)? "

That is easy international extradition agreements already in force. GW is no different than any other Yank who commits felonies abroad. Torture is a crime even in the US. Heck Powell over a year ago warned the Bush Regime leadership to be careful where they went abroad
