Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

A vital oil pipeline runs through Georgia, for example. One word from Putin and it shuts down.

In the face of all this, when we need desperately to take advantage of the vast stores of oil that lie beneath our feet and off our shores waiting to be exploited, we allow the Democrats to place all that petroleum off-limits as they have since the Clinton administration all but banned drilling.

They scoff at the vast majority of Americans who are demanding that we drill and drill now, using the lame excuse that it will take years before the oil here can be brought to the surface and refined and supplied to the nation’s gas pumps.

Instead they dream of presently unavailable alternative sources of energy that may never become realities, and in any case are years in the future.

Realists don’t dream. They recognize that if we start to drill now, sometime in the not too distant future -- two, three five or even ten years from now -- America will have all the oil we’ll ever need and we won’t have to worry about what Vladimir Putin or Iran’s President Ahmadinejad are doing to threaten our oil supplies.

If we listen to the dreamers ten years from now we’ll still be waiting for the promised age of alternative energy to get off the ground -- and we’ll still be dependent on foreign oil at only God knows how much per gallon.

Note: Peters’ full article can be seen here and it’s required reading for anyone who wants to understand what Putin is up to.

About The Author
Michael Reagan, the eldest son of Ronald Reagan, is heard daily by over 5 million listeners via his nationally syndicated talk radio program, “The Michael Reagan Show.”
I think many,here,…
are simply, and , once again, … underestimating President Bush! Despite his reckless spending, he has been very consistent in policy and commitment, ( Lord knows, he stuck with Rummy through thick and thin! ). Remember, also, the framework in which his presidency is cradled. He is probably the last vestige we have of the Reagan/Bush era of International development, ( that would be the one that broke up the USSR ). These guys, ( Rummy included,… he's still alive and a vital resource ), know the regions and attitudes well, as HW was CIA right before VP.

It is difficult to believe our intel was not aware. I somewhat think the plan was already in place to have Sarkosy and Condi at the ready for deployment. Truly, there was some small measure of serendipity that stretched the envelope of belief. I believe President Bush sat down in that booth at the Olympics fully aware of what was to transpire. I further believe there was probably communication between him and Putin no one will ever hear.

We are trying to assess this river of events' current, while standing mid-stream. What will resolve may well be predetermined, though by others than we might think. We are as passengers upon an airliner; the pilot is the guy who occasionally tells is where we are, and has the controls. The guy we hired is Bush. We'd best pray he and his team are one step ahead of Putin and his! I like to think they are!

Vladimir the Tough and Bush the Gentile
How is it that Russia fooled George Bush and rolled the tanks into Georgia before the rest of the world even finished breakfast? No, it was not a sneak attack.

Once again, America’s overrated CIA missed the lead-up. Perhaps analysts like Valarie Plume were busy with other things. More likely, CIA operatives deep in their cubicles in Langley, Virginia were analyzing old satellite photos from a couple years ago (budget cutbacks?). Anyway, we were taken by surprise.

Now, all we can do is give stern rhetoric and demand Russian troops withdraw. Hope Vladimir is not laughing too hard. Fact is, our lead-up for the last ten years was to frolic in our own financial and social designs. We really thought we were “cool”. We have gotten soft, like a former heavy weight boxer who gained 50 lbs. We are not in any shape for any more fights with Russia.

Heck, way too many Americans are incapable as a society and individually of removing wildlife threats from our own neighborhoods. Coyotes and Cougars are free to kill as many fidos as they can find and nobody can stop these carnivores from stealing another juicy meal. An example is the recent coyote attacks in Lake Tahoe. A woman was walking two dogs in broad daylight near Incline Village when a pack of coyotes attacked and killed her dogs right under her nose.

In another instance, a cougar visited a homeowner in La Canada, Calif. (Bob Brown) and took his 45 lb. Sheppard mix right off the balcony. Not a shot was fired. He refused to buy a gun.
Let me tell you, if you are not strong at home first, forget about beating the Russian Bear. We are just not up to it, and Vladimir Putin knows it. All we can do is crow while a carnivore licks his chops.
