Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Even in this age of high-tech toys, two of my young grandsons can still be entertained by the emission of little iridescent spheres from a plastic loop that has been dipped in soapy water.  I am talking about bubbles – the kind that last for only a few seconds before bursting.

A bubble can also be a metaphor.  Old King Solomon talked about emptiness in the ancient book of Ecclesiastes.  One word the wise ruler used to describe the fleeting nature of life without meaning was vanity – and it can be loosely translated as “soap bubbles.”

Of course, most of us have heard about economic bubbles.  They occur when factors such as speculation drive prices to a level far beyond actual intrinsic value.  In the past few years we have seen a dot.com bubble, a Chinese stock bubble, and of course, most recently, the real estate bubble

Charles Mackay, a nineteenth century Scottish journalist, wrote a fascinating treatise entitled, Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds.  First published in 1841, the book chronicled “the most remarkable instances of those moral epidemics which have been excited, sometimes by one cause and sometimes by another, and to show how easily the masses have been led astray, and how imitative and gregarious men are, even in their infatuations and crimes.”

Mr. Mackay describes an assortment of nefarious financial schemes dating back to the early 1700s.  He noted that they were then nicknamed Bubbles.  To him, this term was “the most appropriate that imagination could devise,” adding that, “the most absurd and preposterous of all, and which showed more completely than any other, the utter madness of the people, was one started by an unknown adventurer, entitled, ‘A company for carrying on an undertaking of great advantage, but nobody to know what it is.’”

This could well describe American politics du jour.

When bubbles burst people who have been hypnotized by their splendor tend to be disappointed - like children who see something compelling one moment, only to witness sudden dissipation.  And sometimes, when bubbles connected to intensely personal concerns burst, there is discouragement – even disillusionment.

It might be constructive, maybe even essential, to think of the whole Barack Obama phenomenon as a gigantic bubble.  It has captured pan-cultural attention and transcends the humdrum of mere mortal politics.  Expectations are inflated.  Rational analysis has been muted.  Look, up in the sky – it’s a bird, it’s a plane no, it’s Super Senator above the political fray soaring in his designer soap bubble.

The value of Barack Obama’s stock is sky high these days.  His most devoted followers assume this upward trend will continue.  Happy days are just around the corner.  Can’t you just feel the love and unity?  Not to mention the change?

And back on earth, those who should be watching more closely, and asking tough questions, seem to have temporarily (we can only hope) suspended their capacity for serious investigation while following the bubble-beacon here, there, and everywhere.

What does it say about legacy mainstream media outlets when it is left to the likes of Katie Couric to ask the man from Illinois an actual tough question with a measure of ferocity (at least for her)?

Here is the problem, though.  No one, not even Barack “The Man Promising Personalized Pieces of Blue Sky” Obama, can possibly sustain the level of near universal affection and acclaim indefinitely.   Human glory tends to be a fleeting thing - especially the political variety.  In fact, the issue is not if Obama’s bubble will burst, but rather – when

And when it does, there will be a lot of unhappy American campers.

There is a saying: “Motivation without implementation produces frustration.”  In the political arena this means that when someone inspires people without eventually following through, the result is significant disenchantment.  Barack Obama’s style over substance campaign is very much a bipolar candidacy.  We are seeing the manic phase now.

Stay tuned for the depressive future.

Rarely has a political figure generated the kind of near-universal acclaim that the junior senator from Illinois seems to receive.  His recent trip abroad drew enthusiastic crowds at every public event.  People sought to touch the hem of his garment.  Obama’s speech in Berlin was given before a crowd of more than 200,000.  Take that Camelot.

One German publication actually referred to Barack Obama as “President of the World.”  That’s heady stuff.  For an American politician to get that kind of response in Europe is remarkable.

But it is not unprecedented.

Ninety years ago another American received the royal treatment on the continent.  His name was Woodrow Wilson and he became an international hero, at least for a brief and shining moment.  Within days of the signing of the Armistice ending The Great War, the man who led our country into a war to make the world safe for democracy crossed the Atlantic to become president of his world.

As Mr. Wilson’s train arrived at the Hoboken pier in New Jersey on the morning of December 4, 1918, a great crowd gathered to wish him a safe and prosperous voyage.  A band played the national anthem as the George Washington set sail on the ten-day trans-Atlantic voyage.   More than ten thousand people viewed the scene from a distance in lower Manhattan.  They wanted to witness history.  You see, not only was the chief executive going abroad to save the planet, he was, in fact, the first president up to that time to travel outside the country while in office.  Zeppelins hovered overhead.  Planes looped and swooped.  It was the media event of the decade.

When the ship reached the Port of Brest in France, it was met with even greater enthusiasm.  Margaret MacMillan, great-granddaughter of Wilson’s contemporary and collaborator at the Paris peace conference, David Lloyd-George, described the scene in her excellent book, Paris 1919: Six Months that Changed the World:

“The streets were lined with laurel wreaths and flags.  On the walls, posters paid tribute to Wilson, those from right-wingers for saving them from Germany and those from the left for the new world he promised.  Huge numbers of people, many resplendent in their traditional Breton costumes, covered every inch of pavement, every roof, every tree.  Even the lampposts were taken.  The air filled with the skirl of Breton bagpipes and repeated shouts of ‘Vive l’Amérique! Vive Wilson!’”

Woodrow Wilson was the most popular man in the world.

But a year later it was different.  Someone in Barack Obama’s camp should start searching used bookstores, or the Internet, to find a copy of a 1964 book by Gene Smith.  It is directly on point.  The title says it all: When the Cheering Stopped.  President Wilson came to understand that the deafening sound of grand and glorious bombs bursting in air can, all too quickly, give way to the pathetic whimper of a bursting bubble.

By 1920, the man who had so recently been hailed as the greatest international statesman ever, watched in physical and emotional brokenness as his nation rejected what he hoped would be his lasting legacy.   They voted Republican and would twice more in the decade.  Mr. Wilson died in 1924 after another in a long line of strokes.  But doubtless somewhere in the mix were complications due to a bubble that burst.

People are fickle and the bigger the bubble the bigger the mess when it inevitably bursts.  Barack Obama is riding high now, and he carries the hopes and dreams of millions who have bought into the notion of nonspecific change.  But he will sooner or later descend from the heights according to the political law of gravity.   And when he falls to earth there may be weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth.

It would be infinitely better if the Barack bubble could somehow dissipate during the campaign, long before it threatens to leave soapy residue on the Oval Office floor – not to mention everywhere else.

Nobody cares whether Obama Stands With Muslims or professes to Be A Christian. The Point about Obama is that He Will Say Whatever is Expedient and Serves Himself. Obama has No Loyalty to Anything or Anybody. Look at the Toll of Those Who Supported and Drove Him For Years to get Him Where He is Today. He Threw All of Them Under The Bus, including his Wife Michelle, whose Racism Was Transparent and Obama had to Squelch her lest She Expose Him. He is Only Loyal to Himself, because of his Excessive Admiration and Love of Himself.

Obama is All Show and No Substance. You can dress up a Pig in pretty clothes, and you still have a Pig. The DNC miscalculated when they Picked This Puppet Obama to do their Bidding. Americans were supposed to just Bow To Him, because he Was Something New and Unique. What they missed was that their Puppet Was a Narcissist who loves himself more than Anything Else, and this Came Through Loud and Clear, and like Most Narcissists, he has spent so much time Admiring Himself, that he Became Delusional, and Now Truly Believes that "he is the man" and nothing else matters. He believes that all He has To Do Is Show Up and Smile and Say Hope and Change and Give His Arm Waves and Gestures and that people will Simply Overlook the Fact that He Knows Nothing of Substance, and Cannot Lead a Country. He reckons himself, a Rock Star. The DNC made a Fatal Error and They probably know this by now and are likely to Throw Him Under The Bus, the Same as Obama has done to All Of His Own Comrades when they brought Attention To Who He Really is And became an Eyesore and Liability to Him.

Besides his Narcissism, and Ignorance, this is Obama's third Worst Character Defects. Obama Has No Loyalty To Anybody and of, course we all Know He Has No Loyalty To The United States of America, as witnessed by his World Rock Tour Sponsored by the Mainstream Media. I am a Vet and This Man, Obama, is A Disgrace To This Country.

I'm sorry jagrmeister
Bush stood with the Muslims immediately after 9/11 and it has led, thanks to the undermining dims, to Muslims riding the fence when trying to decide if they will condemn murdering militants. If Muslims don't openly condemn murderers as they threaten Mohamed cartoonists then I will never stand with them. There are some vocal Muslims only heard on conservative radio that I will stand and we will vote against Oblaba. He can't be trusted because of his judgement of associates, his lack of knowledge about American policies and his shady flip-flopping to get the job then it will be back to his leftist ways.

Dense
> "I Will Stand with Muslims"
Quote taken from Audacity of Hope "I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction". Does anybody out there have the CAJONES to demand a public response from Fidel Hussien Obama on this statement???? BE AFRAID AMERICA! BE VERY AFRAID!

You are insane. This doesn't warrant a public response from Obama. I hope our leaders are willing to defend a minority from religious bigotry or violence. Not every Muslim is a terrorist; innocent Muslims SHOULD be defended just like every other American.

Well written article but could be summed up as, "What goes up must come down". I agree with the writer that I don't know where Obama stands on most issues. But for that matter, I don't know where McCain stands. He's served for some 30 years and has no accomplishments except McCain-Feingold which is perceived by many to abridge our first amendment rights. Obama may not have many years behind him; but McCain is arguably worse- having decades of inaction as a record of his public service.

That fine line I asked about earlier is thinner than a human hair.

"Senator Obama DID NOT SUPPORT the Illinois BORN ALIVE INFANTS PROTECTION Act because..."
*There is NO EXCUSE! Unless Barak feels infants ARE NOT WORTHY. (Remember his punished with a baby statement?)

"Similar legislation passed the US Congress, supported by Ted Kennedy and others"
*The Bill passed the Senate on a 99-0 VOICE VOTE!

"which gives rise to the charge that Obama is more radically pro-choice than NARAL or Kennedy."
*The charge is TRUE! Obama is more radical than 99 other Senators. No?

"Bill Bennett claimed the Bills were identical; he was wrong."
*The bills ARE essentially identical...BOTH REACH THE SAME END with different wording.

"Senator Obama would have supported the federal version."
*Riiight. If BOTH bills achieved the same result then we know Obama WOULD NOT SUPPORT EITHER!

Illinois version -
"A LIVE CHILD BORN as a result of an abortion shall be FULLY RECOGNIZED AS A HUMAN PERSON and accorded IMMEDIATE PROTECTION UNDER THE LAW."

The Fed Version -
"Nothing in this section shall be construed to affirm, deny, expand, or contract any legal status or legal right applicable to any member of the species homo sapiens at any point PRIOR TO BEING 'BORN ALIVE' as defined in this section."
*Do you know what PRIOR means in this context?
It means WHEN A BABY IS BORN ALIVE, THAT BABY IS A HUMAN BEING & GETS FULL PROTECTION UNDER THE LAW!
YOUR HERO BLOCKED A VOTE ON THAT (his best Pelosi immitation) AT THE STATE LEVEL!

"Saying he supports killing infants after there are born is propaganda."
*NO dca, IT IS THE TRUTH! And he wouldn't even give them a blanket to die warm in!

great metaphor
When I heard Obama for the first time - all I heard over and over was "we need a change." He never explained what he'd change. I read an article my joe klein in newsweek praising Obama's sincerity. I just don't understand where Klein's coming from - Obama just sounds so phony.

On the contrary, I remember a speech from Ted Kennedy (whom I despise) that was pretty darn inspirational. Hopefully I'm being objective.

Actually most seaweed floats.
Harold Ford AND DCR are both lower than whale droppings which ARE all over the ocean floor.

The Emperor's New Clothes
Now it's coming out:

A February 24, 2005, Washington Post article begins:

There's nothing exotic or complicated about how phenoms are made in Washington, and, more to the point, how they are broken.

"Andy Warhol said we all get our 15 minutes of fame," says Barack Obama. "I've already had an hour and a half. I mean, I'm so overexposed, I'm making Paris Hilton look like a recluse."

Why does everyone believe Obama when he lies through his teeth. He has no ground to stand and criticize McCains new ad. Obama created it!(Thanks to "News Busters")

jmcdanal
Thanks. I could be wrong on this. I've got conflicting information on this---so I'll need more time to figure this out---I'll contact the Illinois legislature, get the Bill numbers and talk to some folks. I don't trust the spin from either side on this highly emotional issue.

Still, for me, this a rather peripheral part of the abortion issue. Since the number of cases this legislation affects is infinitesimal, its importance is dwarfed by the issue of our unacceptably high infant mortality rate and the roughly 30,000 children who day daily for lack of health care, food, and clean water.

jmcdanal
Interesting. Could you source that for me---thanks!

DCR
actually DCR - you are incorrect -

There was a second push of the exact same legislation in the Illinois State senate - except without the aforementioned language that you quoted... just as with the federal legislation...

and Obama still killed it.

I am
You have provided me with all the information I need. You rely on the "Polls".Also, your characterization of the events in Germany are vastly exaggerated to the point of being a "Lie".That's so sadddd...

I Am Sans Pareil
Let me say first off that I deeply respect the views of those who believe abortion takes the life of a human being. That we have so many differing views on this issue and it involves two primary values, life vs. liberty, its no wonder we have such conflict over this issue.

Senator Obama did not support the Illinois Born Alive Infants Protection Act because he believed it was part of a pro-life strategy to undermine Roe v. Wade. A similar but not identical legislation passed the US Congress, supported by Ted Kennedy and others---which gives rise to the charge that Obama is more radically pro-choice than NARAL or Kennedy. On a CNN piece Bill Bennett claimed the Bills were identical; he was wrong. Senator Obama would have supported the federal version.

The Illinois legislation stated, "A live child born as a result of an abortion shall be fully recognized as a human person and accorded immediate protection under the law." President Bush signed into law the "Born Alive Infant Protections Act" which says, "Nothing in this section shall be construed to affirm, deny, expand, or contract any legal status or legal right applicable to any member of the species homo sapiens at any point prior to being 'born alive' as defined in this section."

Differing with Senator Obama on the issue of abortion or Dilation and Extraction procedure is fair game. Saying he supports killing infants after there are born is propaganda.

@ dcr
Do you have a 'fine line' to determine where "Killing a BABY" and ALLOWING A LIVE-BORN INFANT (baby) TO DIE are different?

---------------- ------------
Excerpted from a story by Jill Stanek
© 2008 WorldNetDaily.com

"Legislation was presented on the federal level and in various states called the Born Alive Infants Protection Act. It stated all live-born babies were guaranteed the same constitutional right to equal protection, whether or not they were wanted.
BAIPA sailed through the U.S. Senate by unanimous vote. Even Sens. Clinton, Kennedy and Kerry agreed a mother's "right to choose" stopped at her baby's delivery.
The House also overwhelmingly passed the bill. NARAL went neutral on it. Abortion enthusiasts publicly agreed that fighting BAIPA would appear extreme. President Bush signed BAIPA into law in 2002.
But the Illinois state version failed repeatedly thanks to then-state Sen. Barack Obama. It only passed in 2005, after Obama left.
I testified in 2001 and 2002 before a committee of which Obama was a member.
Obama articulately worried that legislation protecting live aborted babies might infringe on women's rights or abortionists' rights. Obama's clinical discourse, his lack of mercy, shocked me. I was naive back then. Obama voted against the measure, twice. It ultimately failed.
In 2003, as chairman of the next Senate committee to which BAIPA was sent, Obama stopped it from even getting a hearing, shelving it to die, much like babies were still being shelved to die in Illinois hospitals and abortion clinics."

So ummmm, where did Corsi "misrepresent the facts" again???

A Prediction
Sometime in mid-October Barry will begin preparing his flock for the arrival of The Mothership in much the same way the HeavensGate cult was prepared for the disaster of the end of 'their world'.

Jim Jones got nothin' on Barry when it comes to picking the 'flavor' & dishing out the Kool-Aid.

Sweet Dreams Obamatrons.

Perhaps it hasn't occured to you that the "Aplomb" you mention was from Most (not all) of the Media Cheerleaders that tagged along with The Obamassiah.

Do you REALLY think it is a coincidence that Barry's numbers have FALLEN & that McCain is NOW TIED in MOST POLLS...except the "Most Likely Voters" poll where Sen McCain leads, since 'Barry's Excellent "Citizen of the World" European Adventure' ended?
Wasn't THAT trip supposed to be the final nail in the GOP coffin? LMAO

His "intermission speech" between two of Germany's superstar musical acts acts didn't even get the response he thought it should...NOT EVEN FROM A CROWD OF 200,000 FREE-BEER SWILLIING TEENAGERS!!!!

Ya' can't make this stuff up!

Face it...Barry has tapped ALL of the un-informed vote, ALL of the Anti-Bush/Anti-war vote, ALL of the youth vote & oh yeah, did I mention, ALL of the black vote that is available!
Now all he has left as he tacks to the center is the liklihood he will LOSE voters (especially those of the youth & anti-war people)...hahahahaha

On the swiftingboating Just click on the site--it will take ten seconds. Skateboarding, nope. I've got to get back to bathroom remodeling.

To save you from some strenuous clicking, check out Corsi's characterization of Obama's position on abortion:

On the August 1 edition of Fox News' Hannity's America, Jerome Corsi -- author of the book, The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality (Threshold Editions) -- falsely claimed of Sen. Barack Obama's time in the Illinois state legislature: "Even if a child was born, he said the woman still had the right to kill the child in an abortion." ... In making the false assertion about Obama's position -- Obama has of course never supported giving people the right to kill their children -- Corsi was also misrepresenting the legislation to which he was referring, a bill amending the Illinois Abortion Law of 1975. Opponents of the bill said the legislation was unnecessary as the Illinois criminal code unequivocally prohibits killing children, and said that it posed a threat to abortion rights. (Media Matters)

@ dcr
"there's too much to summarize"

So in other words - You Got Nuthin' !!!

Aren't you missing out on some quality Skateboarding time?

DCR - oh. come ON
Re the townahll format - you assert that somehow it benefits Sen McCain because the camera leaves him and focuses on the questionerss in the audience.
What a stretch.

Please. I can't even say "Nice try" on that one.

IN case you never noticed, in formal debates, the camera is on the questioner during questions and the answerer during answers too.

Sen McCain does townhalls all the time, and even after speeches he answers real questions from real people in the audience.
In case you hadn't noticed, Mr. Obama is a push-candidate. He pushes the info at people, and rarely takes questions in anything other than staged interviews.
Simply put, he would be at a great disadvantage in a venue where "people" were allowed to ask questions.
He knows that, or at least his handlers do.

David
As you very well know, being an expert on "Bubbles" and all, heat is extremely detrimental to a "Bubble".Mr.Obama was able to navigate a very difficult international maze.He made no major errors and came away with much more "Aplomb" than that received by Mr.McCain.Does Mr.McCain need need a "Do-Over"?Probably!However,in the role of President there are no "Do-Overs".Just like there are no "Bubbles" for Mr.Obama.But,you can continue to wish.At your age there is little else left, besides PRAYER.

nametabs--"Swiftboated" =lying attack
See this Factcheck site--there's too much to summarize. Happy reading, it's quite amazing that the likes of O'Neil and Corsi have an audience.

@ dcr
Could you maybe enlighten a Conservative Republican dolt like myself as to EXACTLY what is Barry's latest 'stance on abortion'?

AND

What EXACTLY is the misrepresentation Corsi is putting out there about it?

PS
I wouldn't worry too much about The Obamassiah being "Swift-Boated".
In Barry's case it would have to be "Not-So-Swift-Boated".

W/O=

Bubble...yep just as empty!
I couldn't have said it better.. a bubble, like soap bubble brought forth to the heat of the sunlight...bursts, for it's insides are empty and can't stand the pressure. Now the empty suit wants to buy your vote, and once more throws casualties under the bus, Pelosi and Reid hahaha...wouldn't it be nice to have been a fly on the wall when they sat down to worship his words during that press conference only to find out hthey were being tossed under? Oh priceless.

@ WHITE KNIGHT
"Why does TownHall allow this foolishness?"

The simple answer would be to ENCOURAGE THE EXCHANGE OF IDEAS.
OR
Because sometimes, there are more than just a few posters someone wishes to address.

I do think however that there should be some mechanism for posters to cast a vote for 'lies' or at least 'inaccuracies' & 'propoganda' to be flagged as such whereby they should be eliminated from the thread.

Can the assertion that the swift boater crews made false claims be substantiated?

"Reach Out To Those Not Paying Attention"

Excellent Advice!!

I found a way to do this with total strangers and others might think about doing something similar.
I make frequent (at least monthly) visits to my Primary Physician, and see two ther Drs. on a regular basis as well so I decided to "Reach Out" as you say by bringing along my copies of Townhall Magazine and leaving them amongst the reading material (most of which is decidedly Liberal - Newsweek, Time, etc).

In one of the offices they have a magazine rack where I placed the TH publcations. On every subsequent visit I've noticed the magazines in different slots of the rack and they are beginning to look 'well read' which pleases me no end.
Though I can't be sure my efforts have changed any minds of the other patients & visitors to those waiting rooms, especially in MA, I like to think that even ONE would be a victory and THAT voter will do some of the other things you suggest like talking to family members & friends about the 'new stuff' they have become aware of through reading TownHall Magazine.

I've wrestled with this too. I've seen literally dozens of posts by the same person on a single thread and wondered if an active web manager could increase the quality and diversity of views. Occasionally I'll post a lot on a thread, this being one of them. Its hard not to respond when attacked, often personally. I'm not the worst offender in this area however, and if restrictions were imposed I imagine a geek would be retired twice---for example.

Also, I misspelled Dr. Jerome Corsi's name in a previous post, My apologies.

Dr. Jerome Cori's book problematic
First off, any author left or right who engages in character assassination with an agenda should be viewed very skeptically to say the least. Why? Because they will interpret every fact or non-fact in a way to support an ideological viewpoint. I know many leftist poisoned with this affliction when it comes to President Bush or Dr. Kissinger---its a very myopic and paranoid world view that follows from interpreting someone through the lens of hatred--the object of their hatred becomes the devil.

Secondly, a book with many footnotes doesn't mean well-researched. These books, often not peer reviewed, are released with much fanfare, then as time goes by and the sources and claims are examined and falsehoods are revealed.

Dr. Corsi has already misrepresented Senator Obama's views on abortion, his drug use, and his father.

One example (with many more to come):

Corsi's claims Obama "never revealed if or when he stopped" using drugs: This is false.

When Sadik lost his own lease, we moved in together. And after a few months of closer scrutiny, he began to realize that the city had indeed had an effect on me, although not the one he'd expected. I stopped getting high." From Dreams From My Father, pg. 120

DCR Monopoly
I think the policy of allowing anyone to reply more than twice is crazy. Why does TownHall allow this foolishness?

Worry about congress
The problem is Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and the liberal sheep that follow them. These arrogant politicians must think that the American people are brain dead and need their guidance and only their guidance to survive. What is it now - 70% that want off shore drilling, yet the dems dictate our future and refuse to consider the will of the people. VOTE THEM OUT!! That is how you stop socialists like Obama.

DCR
it is interesting that you mentioned

The Obama Nation Now Amazon #2
I just checked the Amazon website.

"The Obama Nation -Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality" (as of this hour) stands at No.2 on the Amazon list!!

...and those readers commenting on it already (well over 300 people, are giving it RAVE reviews!!)

Maybe now the American people can find out just who the Lone Stranger REALLY is under!!

"Don't mind that man behind the curtain!"--The Wizard of Oz

Obama's

promises to "his" village in Kenya were empty, as is his promises to Americans.

I hope his Bubble bursts sooner than later.

Barack Bubble
People believe and follow what they WANT to believe, no matter how chimerical. Hitler and others have known this and capitalized on it big time. BTW, wasn't the messiahbama's crowd of 200k assembled there (in Germany) primarily for a coincident rock concert featuring free food and drink. One piece I read (and only one) noted this little aspect of that event.

Oh and...DCR
Perhaps your accusation has something to do with your comprehensive ability...

...I have already identified one "bungled fact" but it appears that you are the "bungler."

The author's name is Jerome R. Corsi,Ph.D. (not Jeremy Corsi).

Perhaps if you would do a quick review of whatever else you might have read in his book, "The Obama Nation-Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality", you might well find more of what was "bungled" could be attributed to the reader...

...and not the author.

DCR
Anyone can make a charge that an author's facts are flawed. But unless you can be more specific, coming from a dyed-in-the-wool Obamamaiac such as yourself, we are then left to make a decision as to whether we believe your accuracy versus that of Dr. Corsi.

I've been reading the book which, by the way, is sourced & referenced in just about every paragraph. Every source is referenced with detailed endnotes at the back of the book. Chapter 2 (which I am reading now) has 71 endnotes citing names, dates, web addresses, etc.

You, however, have not provided even so much as 1 example of "bungled facts"....making your claim to at least have the appearance of a baseless prevarication.

Legitimate Criticisms and Concerns
Ask some of the folks mentioned in these articles if Obama is an empty suit or an empty heart....

Investigative article from Boston Globe:
Grim Proving Ground for Obama's Housing Policy (In South Side Chicago)
http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2008/06/27/grim_ proving_ground_for_obamas_housing_policy/?page=full

Unbelievable...Hope Oprah saw this one:
Barack Obama's Broken Promises to African Village (Evening Standard)London
http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23520981-det ails/Barack+Obama's+broken+promise+to+African+village/artic le.do

New Corsi Obama book flawed
After the Swift Boat hoax it's surprising that Jeremy Corsi still finds an audience for his new book on Senator Obama. I guess for those who have faith in their beliefs make them claims impervious to evidence. Mr. Corsi has already bungled facts about Senator Obama and readers should be forewarned that without research into his claims, or reading reviews of the book from a variety of sources, you will be given false information.

There are plenty of legitimate criticisms and concerns about Senator Obama without relying on misrepresentation.

Just as it was wise to avoid all the Bush bashing books, it would behoove citizens to use reliable sources in choosing the next President.

The Obama Nation #6 at amazon
Looks like The Obama Nation released Fri is now #6 on Amazon. Ordered my copy.

Saw an interview with Dr Corsi on Hannity & Combs where the gal lib got into it about the book covering the facts of BO's birth including info on his African father. The simple goat herder who came to the west looking for freedom and who inspired Dreams of My Father turns out to have been already married with a child in Africa when he fathered BO. Freedom's just another word when you have nothing left to say!

Don't let a few facts screw up a catchy title for your autobiography that needs to highlight your African roots!

A more appropriate title would have been "My Deadbeat Father a F-ing Nightmare."

Excellent Article
I guess it's just human nature to want to have all problems solved by a wonderful, charismatic guy. Most likely at the end of the day we will have a "burst bubble", lots of disappointment, and maybe some learning.

It's also possible -- although less probable -- that we are dealing with a Mussolini, Hitler, Lenin or Stalin. Certainly the current US has the needed ingredients for a takeover by a minority of "true believers" -- a concentrated left wing media, a cadre of young people who have been indoctrinated in hatred of America, and a citizenry which has no idea where the incredible prosperity of this country has come from.

We will just have to see. Need to be philosophical.

Reach Out To Those Not Paying Attention
Most of us have come to the solid conclusion that Obama would be a major detriment to America and our way of life. We KNOW this with every fiber of our beings. Unlike us, who pay close attention to the daily political happenings and examine what they actually mean, lots of people really aren't paying attention beyond what they are told on the MSM: Obama is America's most favorite candidate, everrrrrr!

Talk to the members of your family, all the cousins you haven't spoken to in awhile, the young adults in your family and their impressionable friends, those who are disgusted with McCain and are opting to sit-it-out. Talk to your neighbors, everyone and anyone you come across. Calmly, rationally, logically, non-emotionally explain WHY Obama would be catastrophic to our country.

The Silent Majority might forever have to keep our mouths shut if America is gone and a new & improved socialist/communist America is built. "Now is the time for all good men (and women) to come to the aid of their country!" We need to show up on November 4th and roar.

Logic overload frightens moonbats!!!
Indy, you're making WAY too much sense. Can't have that. You'll send all our moonbats back to their caves for progressive thought therapy.

"Brave" Obama ran away!
http://scaredmonkeys.com/2008/08/03/barack-obama-chickens-o ut-of-town-hall-debates-against-john-mccain-what-happened-t o-debate-mccain-any-where-any-time/

Bravely bold Sir Obama
Rode forth from Illinois.
He was not afraid to die,
Oh brave Sir Obama.
He was not at all afraid
To be attacked in nasty ways.
Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Obama.

He was not in the least bit scared
To be called a Muslim.
Or a leftist too,
And a celebrity.
And Britney too.
To be called a Paris Hilton type,
Clearly a racist sterotype
Brave Sir Obama.

And Rove sent men to aide McCain
They called Barack chicken
And yellow
And scared
And then Obama cried its foul
And ran around like barnyard fowl

"That's... that's enough debate talk for now lads,
*** there's dirty "cynical" work afoot*** ???."

Brave Sir Obama ran away.
("No!")
Bravely ran away away.
("I didn't!")
When campaign danger reared it's ugly head,
Obama bravely turned his tail and fled.
("no!")
Yes, brave Sir Obama turned about
("I didn't!")
And gallantly he chickened out.

****Bravely**** taking ("I never did!") to his feet, Obama beat a very brave retreat.
("all lies!")
Bravest of the braaaave, Sir Obama!
("I never!")

You missed the main point
These two candidates are the bubble of an election cycle dictated by the new media, the internet. The three main senator candidates completely dropped their job - where else could you implement the policies you espouse?- to campaign for almost two years.

Add to that the leftist Soros agenda thats banking Oblaba and pushed the indy-rinos in the first primaries to McCain and you have the present scenario.

Here's a novel approach. Elect reps and senators that will 1)Put in strict judges 2) Drill, build nuclear and refineries 3) Enforce border, build fence and document illegals/employers for work and taxes and 4) Let our troops fight the terrorists wherever they are like world wars are fought and stop the undermining.

Obama
plenty of things also point to Obama as being the anti-Christ as well... it should be an interesting election, but unfortunately the fun and games of Nov will lead to the dismay in Jan if Obama wins. The sea of change that he is promising will be very sweeping and catch a lot of people by surprise. Remember, a lot of dictators and world leaders touted change before they did it...

The Bubble At Max Inflation
As your tires should be according to The Obamassiah's grand plan to ease the Oil Crisis we now face.
Though in fairness, he has tailored his message for the people of FLA the last couple of days. Wonder what tomorrows plan will be when he speaks to some other crowd in some other state.

The trip to the ME was the high point of Barry & Chuck's Excellent Overseas Adventure and by the time he finished speaking in Berlin his stock was on the way down.
Barak found out a day too late that We The People are a Nation of folks who think of themselves as Americans First, "Citizens of the World" some time later.

To intimate that only he can restore America to its former glory is reprehensible. If my memory serves me, didn't Germany elect Merckle and France DUMP Chirac & his Party BEFORE Barak Hussein Obama became "the one" THEY've been waiting for? Talk about hubris!!

A sign that even Barry (or someone on his team) can do the math, and realizes the sum total doesn't add up to a victory, that he has topped out his support, is his recent penchant for Flipping his positions on issues ranging from Off-Shore Drilling - to the War - to Reparations all the while claiming "this is what I've said all along" and praying that there are still some voters out there who can be bamboozled.

IMO the Novice Senator is about to find out that some walls are just too high, some bridges a tad too far away for grandiose speeches to have any effect upon. Especially the walls & bridges spoken of in Europe.

His REAL countrymen care not about knocking down imaginary walls in Germany!!
The vast majority of us are more concerned with BUILDING a wall on our Southern Border as a matter of National (as in US of A) Security.

We are tired of bridges being built that go nowhere and cannot/will not trust someone who PROMISES EVERYTHING to EVERYONE IN THE WORLD to put a stop to to it.

NOBAMA in '08!!
NOBAMA NEVER!!!

There's a difference between being a political moderate holds views described as "centrist" and what I'm talking about, which is basic respect for those who hold differing political views.

When one compares Senator Obama to Hitler or the Anti-Christ, one response would be to insult their intelligence. Another would be to offer argument and evidence to show why those are faulty views. However emotionally satisfying personal attacks are for some, they add nothing to figuring out ideas are the best ones. Of course, we may be working at cross purposes. If one's intent is simply insulting others or saying things so others of like opinion congratulate you--then I know not to take your posts seriously because they're for emotional catharsis and getting positive reinforcement. I suspect however, that you want to engage in ideas that are different than your own and see if they hold up--that is the basis of politics in a republic.

I'm with DCR
DCR--I agree that the level of discourse on this site is sometimes really childish. altho IMHO it's much worse on, for example, TPMCafe where, if you question anything about Obama, you're vilified as a racist.

even tho there's a lot of name-calling on this site, at least most commenters generally welcome people of opposing opinions. that's more than I can say for some of the lefty sites.

but look, people: why are you spending your time hunting down Obama's birth certificate? McCain was born in the Canal Zone, and some people are saying HE isn't eligible to run. does it matter? it's a stupid law anyway, and it's probably going to be changed soon.

similarly, the whole "O'Vomit" and "McLame" thing is getting old.

McCain supporters: do you think referring to the Dem candidate as "Hussein" is going to make people not vote for him? do you think perpetuating the (incorrect) idea that he is Muslim is going to work?

and you Obama supporters: do you think it helps you with the Clintonistas and the older voters to constantly talk about "the old man" and how you're surprised McCain's campaign even "knows how to use the internet" and so on?

I'm a Hillary supporter still, but now that she's not running I don't know what to do. what I DO know, however, that my decision will be based on the candidates' stands on THE ISSUES. there are plenty of REAL reasons not to vote for either of these guys...I'm waiting to hear a reason to vote FOR one of them.

The new Book out now, Obama Nation, should be distributed to every household in America immediately. There is still time- but precious little time left to expose the real Obama to America!!

Some Respect
One measure of the civility and seriousness of discussion is the language used by the participants. I hated MoveOn's 'General-Betray-Us" as much as I hate O'Vomit etc etc.

Is it too much to ask, regardless of their politics, to be respectful toward the candidates and their supporters. Including Bob Barr--and this will be hard--Ralph Nader?

Wouldn't Town Hall be a better place for it?

Wrong comparison
Comparing O'Vomit to Lincoln is like comparing Dr. Mengele to Alber Schweitzer!!

When it comes to debates candidates want their strengths emphasized. Townhall meetings take the cameras off Senator McCain and to the questioners and the venue. Senator Obama does not benefit from this format. If I were a Senator McCain supporter I'd want townhall meetings. But I'm not, and unfortunately for Senator McCain the side by side debates have more tradition.

The two campaigns want the political theatre that best suits their candidate. Let's not make this about fear of facing the people etc--all that is silliness.

This is politics. Senator McCain lost the format battle.

dcr --huh??
You wrote: "Senator McCain's desire for townhall meetings rests solely on the advantage of dissipating the focus and attention of the negative side-by-side comparison of an older less articulate and less compelling man with Senator Obama".
And called Sen McCain's challenge to joint townhalls unprincipled and political.

If you think he'd come off so badly in a side by side event, I don't get your logic.

AFTER the convention please
We should all hope that the inevitable burst of said bubble comes after he is the confirmed nominee. Otherwise we have to deal with Mrs. Clinton. We're better off with bubble-boy.

early2rise
We both want to put this issue to bed. If its a conservative canard like the bizarre obsession with the supposed Hilary Clinton complicity in the "murder" of Vince Foster--well, I'm not with you. I'm afraid the Left has its "9/11 perpetrated by the Bush Administration" nuts, and the right more than its share of conspiracy nuts and hate mongers--the Jeremy Corsi types.

You see, many claims are made by conspiracy "theorists" and then the expectation is that if they are not proven false, the original claim has validity. And if one believes strongly in the claim, evidence is always responded to with more "what ifs." MOST IMPORTANTLY, IT IS NOTORIOUSLY DIFFICULT TO PROVE A NEGATIVE, "prove you didn't know about the plot" etc. Its a distracting and silly ideological game offered by those without reasonable standards of evidence and argument.

So, if there is anything to this claim, I want it pursued. Why? Because Senator Clinton should be running instead of Senator Obama, and Senator McCain will make a fair but not good or great president.

It strains credulity that a non-citizen would believe their citizenship status would not come up at some point.

Good morning Mountain Rose!
Thanks for your kind words on yesterday's BC column!

Anyway I seem to have torqued off a number of good online friends because I sent round this email on Obama that compares the changes he wants, and the media's refusal to investigate and define him to Castro's campaign. The fallout was surprising to say the least.

I was only a baby at the time of Castro's rise so can't speak to it one way or another at the moment. But still, isn't that how tyrants come to power in the first place? Promise to make the trains run on time and give everyone free whatever-he-needs and all will be well-until it is too late to see otherwise.

Dupees vs. Dupers!
I am just sitting here thinking: Who are the dupers and the dupes? Hope everyone else is too, because this is the name of this Presidential game! Yeah, it is a game of chance! Are you willing to take a chance? Not me!!!

"Senator Obama was born in Hawaii in 1961, which became a state in 1959. There is no citizenship issue."

BO has been registered at two different hospitals in HI to which he was supposedly born. The birth certificate he offered to Daily Kos is a forgery, and a bad one at that. He has yet to produce anything other than the forgery in spite of being asked multiple times for months. His mother has to be a U.S. citizen for at least 5 years, after the age of 14, for B.O. to be considered a citizen. Mom gave birth at the age of 18. A year, possibly 2, short of citizenship status. Pop was NOT a U.S. citizen. The hospital to which he was born is in question as several hospitals seem to have him born in their ward. (Not just in HI) BO could easily clear this up by getting a mere copy of a live birth certificate, this time with the state seal, and give that as evidence to quiet the suspicions. He refuses to do so. BO's words and forgeries may be all that's needed for libs, but the rest of America wants to see the REAL docs.

OBLAHMA
The crowd gathered in Germany for the rock concert that preceded O'Vomit, citizen of the world. Germany’s Stern magazine carried the headline "Barack Kant Saves the World."

One of their columnists, Florian Güssgen, wrote: "The man is perfect, impeccable, slick. Almost too slick … Obama's speech was often vague, sometimes banal and more reminiscent of John Lennon's feel good song 'Imagine' than of a foreign policy agenda."

Obama is pathetic - has no moral center - is lusting for power - is a socialist, an anti-capitalist, and a mommy state redistribution of wealth Soros' sock puppet.

America voters aren't stupid and NOBAMA is resonating as they realize the emptiness of Mr. Dissembler.

the oldest story in the world....
Man is undone by his pride. It's the story of Adam, and has repeated again and again and again.

Of COURSE Obama is going to fall. No man alive can live up to the promise. Even Jesus Christ himself was cruficied, and believe me, Barack Obama is no Jesus Christ.

Re: History does repeat!!!??
Does anyone remember 65 yrs ago when a 5'2" little unknown prussian guy stood up in a beer hall and a said he the answer and would change the world!! Remember all of the speeches and hoopla? Well, there is nothing different here except instead of the National German Workers Socialist Party it is the National African American Socialist Party!! History does repeat.

McCain strategy
Senator McCain's desire for townhall meetings rests solely on the advantage of dissipating the focus and attention of the negative side-by-side comparison of an older less articulate and less compelling man with Senator Obama. Insisting on townhall meetings is not a principled request---nor is Senator Obama's rejection of them. This is politics---let's not pretend its something else.

Well - if the people are going to get to see these candidates side by side - perhaps you could ask your man to stop ducking the town hall debates McCain has proposed.

I realize this is risky - no teleprompters, no prepared speeches, no pre-selected audiences, no free rock concerts - but hey, McCain could stumble!

That the messiah won't agree to this venue should tell you something - but it won't.

Your "emotion lever" is tuned to 110% - your "critical thought lever" at zero.

Obama is unelectable. Better to dump him in Denver and select Hillary - if you really want to have a chance of a Dem inauguration ceremony in January.

I liked the use of history by Mr. Stokes, but the general point was not very interesting and original. Sorry, guess I'm an elitist.

I'll be here November 5th regardless of the outcome. Senator Obama will win by the way. Believe me, after people see them side by side and hear their answers, and McCain is established as Bush lite.

Bubble boy is afraid of Pin
No wonder Bubble O had problem with his American Flag Pin.

Pins can be deadly when you live in a bubble!

DCR opines:
"So, Mr. Stokes is saying that Senator Obama's popularity has peaked and he will not be able to deliver change––so his support will plummet. (This claim is of course made after a history of bubbles.) Rather pedestrian piece."
-----
"Rather pedestrian piece."???

Is it any wonder that leftist/liberals are stereotyped as "elitist snobs"?

It will be very interesting to see how many "DCRs" will show up here at TH on November 5th for a little post-election analysis after Obama's sound defeat on the 4th.

Obama is unelectable...

"Intelligence" (and snobbery) does NOT equal "wisdom".

Going to be Ugly
when this bubble bursts. Democrats ignore those pesky flaws in their candidates obvious to the "average" voter - that is why there can be a big August splatter - might be delayed a little this year considering the late convention season.

OBlahBlah Babbling in the Bubble

Barak OBlahBlah has started talking like he thinks his bubble don't stink!

But of course, he has just come to believe his own press releases, and the fauning of the adoring media.

His lack of humility is becoming legendary, and worthy of ridicule. I think that the pro-McCain ad that lambasted him for being a celebrity took him by surprise. He is so accustomed to being treated like a star, he didn't think that anyone was noticing that he was full of... fill in the blank!

AynRandLives
Senator Obama was born in Hawaii in 1961, which became a state in 1959. There is no citizenship issue.

By the way, Ayn Rand couldn't have run for president.

Produce a birth certificate
I think the pin that will burst his bubble is asking him to prove that he is eligible to run for president. Where is his birth certificate? Can he prove that he complies with the restrictions on American citizenship for one born of a non_-American? I'm waiting.

Depends on the ROP
If the ReligionofPeace decides that (making the collosal mistake of believing that America=Spain) Obama their boy needs a little help, they will blow up something Real Good, something important to Americans (not another financial building this time, when Americans dislike financial institutions as much as the trrorists do) with the false assurance that America will then cave.

Americans being the type who respond to attack by kicking butts and taking names, coupled with Obamas inevitable hand-wringing, apologizing, America-Blaming speech from the ruins, this would hand the prize to McCain.

A lot depends on how desperately stupid Obamas friends in low places may be.

So, Mr. Stokes is saying
that Senator Obama's popularity has peaked and he will not be able to deliver change––so his support will plummet. (This claim is of course made after a history of bubbles.) Rather pedestrian piece.

Senator McCain recent tactics may work. He's keeping race front and center, exploiting racial anxieties, while claiming Senator Obama's at fault race is an 'issue." McCain's being disingenuous, but who knows, this smoke and mirrors show could work. Oh, McCain's also blaming Senator Obama for high gas prices and claiming Senator Obama is treasonous, that he'd lose a war to win an election. Oh, let's not forget, ala Harold Ford, the white women black man fear--if this slime sticks and dries, it will be a bigger factor than the history of bubbles.

Mr. Stokes' point is mundane, but true. Initial enthusiasm can rarely be sustained. However, after suffering through one of the worst and unpopular presidents in recent history, whether the US citizenry wants more of this remains to be seen. I suspect not. We may want back the tax levels for the wealthy during the prosperous Clinton years, a long-term energy policy weaning us from fossil fuels, health care for those who want it, focus on Al Qaeda rather than trillion dollar invasions, balanced budgets (hopefully if he follows Clinton), and a president who can inspire.

We'll see---but I think you guys might have a loser. But nasty campaigns based on misinformation and innuendo often work, so who knows.

Your first 4 paragraphs are dead accurate. I hope the prediction of the 5th follows suit.

The bloom is already
going off the rose. Every time this clown opens his mouth, he reveals a little more of what he believes in when he clamors for change and it is ugly.
His core values are un-American, his knowledge of economics is nil, you don't raise taxes in a slowed down economy and you sure don't hand out welfare checks to the entire country with a windfall profits tax on a company we need to supply the same fuel you refuse to drill for.

You don't pull out of a war you are winning and you don't "negotiate" with rabid dogs, to even think you can is to prove yourself a delusional fool.

Bambi has proven that any money expended on him for an education was totally wasted, unless one was looking to create a marxist BS artist, in that case they succeeded beyond their wildest dreams.

Compared to McCain, he is a total child and will get a spanking in Nov. for lying to the adults who still comprise the majority in this country.

O'bama's Bubble
McCain should also propose some things about correcting the economy as Obama has done showing that increased taxes are not the end-all and be-all of domestic policy.

Obama is hoping
that you do not notice every rime he changes his stand.

HOPE
I can't help "HOPING" that Hillary has one "BIG PIN" to use to burst obama's "BIG BUBBLE" at the demon-cratic convention.

Reverand Wright
The magnitude of the BHO bubble must be very large indeed( by definition: you cannot delineate a bubble's magnitude until after it has burst). But there is an available measurement. This consists of enormous avoidance by the media in examining what BHO and Michelle and two daughters were doing in Wright's church for 20 years. It boggles the mind that this man could actually become the president of the USA.

One of our least understood presidents.

Obama Should Be Soaring In The Polls
Considering the 24/7 non-stop glamorization of Obama and the fawning attention that the media has given him, Obama should be soaring in the polls rightt now. We went all the way around the world, taking pictures and shaking hands. Atlease 60% of America should love Barry by now. No matter the razzle-dazzle, Obama is having trouble closing the deal. He barely squeeked past Hillary, I doubt he can overcome McCain's steadily growing support. Obama appears flawed beyond hope; I wonder if the Democrats are having buyer's remorse.

ropati
Peaking too early? An excellent sports analogy. With any luck, by next election he'll be just a contestant on The Surreal Life TV show. And it could well happen. With all he as going for him, a young, slick talking, not unattractive looking presumptive nominee of the political party with positive momentum, Yobama should have a 15-20 point lead in the polls, but the best he can do is a statistical dead heat?

Aback Orama

We can only hope his bubble bursts well before November, but don't count on it.

What he preaches is what the masses want to hear, and believe in. Faith, even misplaced, is a powerful force and may well carry us into a far more Depressed era than we are now in.

Try to remember who ..
was the first person to declare his candidacy for President? Who was it that dragged Hillary into the race long before she wanted to be involved? Whose idea was it to drag this process on and on and on for two years? Yes, it is very same person who is now suffering from over-exposure and second thoughts. He would have been far better off to hold back 6 months or more. If he had, we would still be in the adoration stage. Peaking too early. Sorry, B.

It really is a fart in the bathtub...
We all take showers now so have forgotten those troublesome bubbles, but it is an excellent description of Bro O, the decadent Rappers friend and the hero of the world. The lowest and the highest. He has been smart enough to keep the light off of his mouthy wife, but he has the blaa, bla, bla that will reverberate until the convention. The Pied Piper leading our youth to drown.
Don Jones

Bubble Trouble
Back in January, 2001, AOL bought and merged with Time Warner. After the merger, shareholders in AOL received more shares in the new company than the shareholders in Time Warner recieved. AOL had made a timely trade of their stock at a point close to the top of the tech bubble. Two years later AOL Time Warner took a 99 billion dollar write off due to the devaluation of the assets that AOL had brought to the merger. The CEO of AOL, Steve Case, had, in retrospect, pulled off the first big deal (steal?) of the 21st century by trading over inflated AOL stock for the truly valuable stock of Time Warner.

The bubble I’m thinking about today isn’t economic, but it has things in common with an economic bubble. It’s a “commodity” that has a word of mouth buzz about it. Its market value has been bid up far beyond its underlying value. The underlying fundamentals of the “commodity” are characterized by a lot of hot air and not much foundation, and the “commodity” hasn’t been around for very long. Although stock of the commodity has a low intrinsic value, an army of salesmen is attempting to convert this overinflated stock into a much more valuable position. It is reminiscent of the AOL –Time Warner merger. The “commodity”, of course, is the expected Democrat nominee, and the valuable position is the presidency.

I’ve heard economists declare that all bubbles eventually burst and that over inflated stocks always come down in price. The big question is how long can the main stream media and the Democrat hot air machine keep the Obama bubble inflated?

Time will tell, but we can have hope that things will change and that the Obama bubble will deflate by November. Now that’s the kind of hope and change that works for me.
