Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Members of the Mafia have to take a vow of silence, and if they break it, they face the very real possibility of winding up dead. Liberals have their own version of the vow. However, instead of having to keep quiet about murder, drug deals and extortion, they must promise not to ridicule their own kind.

The price of breaking the code isn’t death, it’s something far more serious; namely, exile from their social circle. Dare to make fun of Joe Biden’s statement that in 1929, President Roosevelt went on TV to reassure his fellow Americans about the Depression, and don’t expect to be invited to write for the Huffington Post. Dare to laugh at Nancy Pelosi’s contention that 500 million Americans are losing their jobs every month, and you can forget about being invited to brunch at Streisand’s or to pitch a movie idea to Tom Hanks or Steven Spielberg. Believe me, for some people, that’s a far worse fate than swimming with the fishes.

When you remember what a big deal the press and the late night jokesters made out of Dan Quayle’s merely misspelling “potato,” you get some idea of what partisan hypocrites these people are.

Now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, I’ll let you in on a few other things that annoy the heck out of me.

To begin with, there’s Alex Rodriguez. In the interest of full disclosure, I’ll admit I’m a fan of the New York Yankees. Let me add that I had hoped ARod would break Barry Bonds’ home run record. Now I can no longer root for him. What I would like to see is for all the cheats -- Bonds, McGwire, Sosa, Palmeiro, Giambi -- to have their records stricken from the book. So far as I’m concerned, Roger Maris still holds the single season home run mark and Hank Aaron, the career record. For good measure, I would make Commissioner Bud Selig walk the plank. They pay this bum, who can’t run, hit or throw, eight million bucks a year to oversee the national pastime, and he’s overseen it right into the toilet.

Getting back to politics, I’d like to see them get rid of all those people who are always standing on the back of the stage every time someone gives a speech. I know the reasons they’re there, but that doesn’t make it any better. One, when the speaker is a creep like Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton, it’s supposed to con us into thinking that the speaker represents someone and something besides himself and his own self-interests. Two, when it’s the president or a senator who’s speaking, it’s supposed to give those bystanders some reflected glory. Well, let me break the news to them that it doesn’t work quite that way. If the guy giving the speech is the least bit important, standing behind him and staring at the back of his head makes you look like dress extras or, worse yet, like a painted backdrop.

Unlike liberals, I found the first few weeks of the new administration endlessly amusing. For one thing, even I wouldn’t have guessed how quickly Barack Obama would doff his halo as he worked to push through the Pelosi and Reid pork package and get a bunch of tax cheats and lobbyists on his team. That being said, I almost felt sorry for Tom Daschle. I, for one, believed him when he said he hadn’t realized he had to pay taxes on his car and driver as a private citizen. After all, he’d had a tax-free car and driver when he was a senator. What I would really like to know is why my tax money is going to pay for cars and chauffeurs for our public servants. After all, the more isolated these weasels are from normal life, the more they see themselves as royalty. Here in L.A., we used to have a mayor who lived on a hilltop in the San Fernando Valley. He commuted downtown to City Hall by helicopter. Do you think he spent a lot of time worrying about potholes on the street and traffic on the freeway?

The argument, of course, is that these people get a lot of work done going to and from the job. But why would anyone buy that malarkey when we know how little work they actually do when they reach the office? Most of the actual work is done by their staff, while they, themselves, concentrate on raising campaign funds so they can continue living like King Louis XIV.

Finally, I’m starting to wonder if President Obama is now telling the kids that they’ll get their dog, but only if he’s re-elected in 2012.

One thing for certain is that the First Dog is being vetted a lot better than was his Secretary of the Treasury.

Annoying to me is...
that we all come in here and talk the talk and when we leave we don't walk the walk, that's why these crooks run the country. Before you start on me, I included myself.

Let's start by sending melvin some toilet paper.....

Cheap Toilet Paper Needed.
There are many low wage earners that cannot afford state payroll taxes and are given an exemption. But they cannot avoid the sales tax. It is outrageous to force a minimum wage worker to pay a sales tax on toilet paper. Billions of dollars in state sales taxes are collected on toilet paper alone. Workers have to go to work smelly and dirty unless that tax is paid. This law must be abolished at once. This hygiene problem should be taken up by the new administration. Any new stimulus bill should include financial help for low wage toilet paper users. It is a filth producing tax and it smells.

great article. Maybe the first dog will oversee our porkulus bill. It'd do a much better job than those in power.

baby is over-stimulated again
Stop wanking and stuff it, Baby.

There is no liberal honesty in this country today. Do you think coming here to rain on the conservative parade makes you an effective or courageous liberal?

Firstly, you're likely enough a woman. Effeminate causes are bunk, you and your vibrator are feeble excuses for the truth. Prelutsky at least has a sense of humor.

You and the mirthless left are only gorgons, to turn a man's face to stone. Let's hear it for water-boarding in the cause of American defenses. Down with panties on the body politic! Spank the morbid left!

burt is the real retired geek

Why am I telling myself, "Ah, Prelutsky, you dawg! Always regaling us with laughter!"

Then a peek over at the Geek. Peek at a Geek, get it?

"Liberals want 'Separation of Church and State', institute that ON GITMO prisoners, NO prayer rugs, NO foot washing facilities, NO call to prayers, NO copies of the Koran or any other religious materials."

Bravo, there oughta be a law!

"100% Pork diet to save money (Pork is cheap), Pork mixed vegetables, Pork mixed fruit and Pork entrees.

Feeding the prisoners all the 'Pork' they can eat - certainly cannot be construed as 'Torture'.--

Hey; just a min. Retired Porky Pig is OUT! Them's good vittles. Feed those clowns Mexican pork chorizo, and pickled pig's feet; save the ham and chops for American menus.

"Removing religious trappings - certainly cannot be construed as 'Torture'."

AMEN, Geek! Whilst they pray let 'em hear Klezmer music (sung in Yiddish) over the PA, full volume! Nothing could approach that for spiritual comfort! Lol!

D
You make a great point. Israel had to hit the ground running after she came into being and must be hawkish. Maybe, with such high unemployment here we should start doing what Israel does and do away with the volunteer army. Do you think Israel is right though, in taking the West Bank?

Say it ain't so...
Burt, did you really say that you're a Yanks fan? You're in the evil empire, as they say?
Man, that's heartbreaking news - I'd always imagined that a guy like you, he'd root for te underdog. Got news for ya, the Yanks aren;t underdogs anymore, not with Sabathia, Teixiera, et al. Maybe we oughta ask the Steinbrenners for a loan (better still, a gift) to bail us overtaxed and neglected taxpayers out. Can't hurt, all they can do is say no, right?

OK, so I like the Red Sox instead of the Yankees... but you get out of the doghouse with your comments about all the PED cheaters in baseball. They, along with Selig, ought to be tossed out of the game they helped corrupt.
Cleaning the books of Bonds records (and any others, Sosa, McGuire, Clemens, etc.) won't entirely solve the problem of what to do with tainted stats, but it is a start. No HOF for these people, either. Team stats we won't be able to change, but individual honors we can expunge, and we should. Or, alternatively, open an all-steroids wing to the HOF; these cheats don't belong along side Mays, Williams, Joe D., Mantle, Aaron, Maris, and all the others who earned it the old-fashioned way.

Go Cubs, go White Sox, go Red Sox - beat those Damned Yankees!

I wonder
Is this the first time that the dollars we send to the IRS will actually be signed by a tax cheat?

BTW
Are there any sites collecting Joe Biden's wonderful gaffes into one spot? If last-ditch libbies still collect the apocryphal errors of Dan Quayle, we need a web site we can refer them to.

Also, a final peeve -- the current meme of grousing about the "octo-mom." If you're a conservative complaining about her, you're really just giving ammo to the folks who say "you should need a license to be a parent!"
Yea, that's what we need -- a parenting permission bureaucracy, perhaps run by Hillary Clinton. Be careful what you grumble for -- you might get it.

Bob tx
Yeah and Calif is in debt to the amt OF 42 BILLION?

Another none sense by a conservative!
It is high time that the likes of this guy just shut, otherwise to their praise, so to speak, only blabbering, out of guilt in as much as so called conservatives handed Obama a real disaster as never before!

Yes, Ron Paul was the man ready to take over and safe America from sliding ever faster down to hell! But those conservatives including the writer of this article, treated him like leprosy!

Yes, America is heading for its very Waterloo! Yes, while most Americans do not know what is up! Why should average Americans know when Politicians are such traitors of America?

LoLo - Primate54
I apologize for using big words and even bigger concepts that trouble you. I will simplify for your benefit:
You are uncomfortable with any moral concepts other than black/white because any intermediates are too complex for you to understand. You are only able to conceive an either/or world of ogres and heroes. We won't need to torture anyone because there won't be any "clock ticking" terrorist quandary -- and Jack Bauer is fictional.
You are both simpletons and dullards.
Hope that clarifies matters for you.

Oh - oh! (2)
"He never provides evidence for his commentary, and seems to view his readers as idiots."

Error five - he gave reasons for all of his OPINIONS. Mr. Douglas would require Mr. Prelutsky to provide links to commonly-known news articles about V.P. Quayle, baseball's cheaters, and Daschle's comments while expressing his opinions on them? Mr. Douglas is good at throwing out opinions and deserting.

---

"It just one big discontinuous smear."

Errors six and seven - does he mean "it's"? Also, he doesn't tell us what the smear is, and what distinguishes a discontinuous smear from a continuous smear.

---

You shouldn't stand for it. Tell Prelutsky you want to be treated like adults - intelligent adults.

Oh, my - perhaps he should tell his wife to switch him back to caffeinated coffee before he sounds off. Another few hundred posts, and he might rise to semi-literacy.

===

Ever notice how the liberals can't stand it when conservatives are having fun?

PS: MS Word reports that my response above is grade level 7.9, probably above Mr. Douglas's reading comprehension.

NANETTE
Hey wait a minute?What about Kerry,Levin,Leahy,Kennedy,Gore,
Sharpton,Durbin,etc etc?

Oh - oh! Douglas has been banished again
to the basement with his computer. Here is our eloquent whiz kid, complaining again.

"Why can't these hacks write remotely intelligent articles."

Errors one and two - no question mark. Articles have no intelligence. (Ignored errors: the ad hominem attack with no evidence that the authors are 'hacks', and the obvious rebuttal that making the articles appear written by remotely intelligent authors as opposed to fully intelligent authors would, in fact, make them worse.)

---

"For Prelutsky, there's no coherence within the paragraphs,"

Error three - Prelutsky has no paragraphs - his articles do.

---

"and they jump from one to another in an almost random manner."

Error four - the paragraphs don't jump at all. Perhaps he meant that the author jumps from topic to topic; but then again, that is what the article was about. Burt certainly introduced each topic.

Post's from wrong thread on Douglas
will be correctly posted here. Sorry.

You have got to be kidding! "Why oh why did he let the right wing nuts take over his campaign?"

McCain was hammered by the right because the only "right" sided decision he made was to ask Governor Palin to be his running mate.

The main reason he lost was because he was liberal light, not an authentic conservative. The people chose the authentic liberal versus the fake one.

Listen, lets nip this "little water up the nose" meme once and for all.

In fact, waterboarding is just the type of torture then Lt. Commander John McCain had to endure at the hands of the North Vietnamese. As a former Master Instructor and Chief of Training at the US Navy Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape School (SERE) in San Diego, California I know the waterboard personally and intimately. SERE staff were required undergo the waterboard at its fullest. I was no exception. I have personally led, witnessed and supervised waterboarding of hundreds of people. It has been reported that both the Army and Navy SERE school’s interrogation manuals were used to form the interrogation techniques used by the US army and the CIA for its terror suspects. What was not mentioned in most articles was that SERE was designed to show how an evil totalitarian, enemy would use torture at the slightest whim. If this is the case, then waterboarding is unquestionably being used as torture technique.

ttp://smallwarsjournal.com/blog/2007/10/waterboarding-is-torture-perio/

What annoys me
is the three pictures of children that popped up when I downloaded this article. I suppose I was to choose one to "sponsor". What's worse is no "close" button existed. What gives?

curmie
That was McCain's discription, not mine. Do you really wish me dead? That's not very nice.

For instance, there has been considerable press attention to a tactic called "waterboarding," where a prisoner is restrained and blindfolded while an interrogator pours water on his face and into his mouth--causing the prisoner to believe he is being drowned. He isn't, of course; there is no intention to injure him physically. But if you gave people who have suffered abuse as prisoners a choice between a beating and a mock execution, many, including me, would choose a beating. The effects of most beatings heal. The memory of an execution will haunt someone for a very long time and damage his or her psyche in ways that may never heal. In my view, to make someone believe that you are killing him by drowning is no different than holding a pistol to his head and firing a blank. I believe that it is torture, very exquisite torture."

A very good post by McCain. Why oh why did he let the right wing nuts take over his campaign?

annoying? townhouse trolls
for example:Water boarding isn't the only thing that we did, but believe me it is torture.
As Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) has pointed out, there's no question that waterboarding is torture: "[T]o make someone believe that you are killing him by drowning is no different than holding a pistol to his head and firing a blank. I believe that it is torture."
------typical trollspeak. first, firmly state a lie, often and loud, and morons will accept it as true. worked for stalin, should work for taft. second, quote anything that a nominal republican says that a troll agrees with, and the "republican" must be speaking the unvarnished truth. third, state a foolish falsehood that you think supports your opinion, because you know that your fellow trolls dont know enough to see through it. this refers to tafts foolish comparison of waterboarding to holding a gun to a head and firing a blank. i challenge the troll taft, to let me fire a blank at his head, then i will allow him to waterboard me. the result will be a dead troll and a little peace and quiet in townhall. anyone but a troll knows that a blank fired to the head is fatal.

Prominent Orchard Park man charged with beheading his wife
By Gene Warner
News Staff Reporter
Orchard Park police are investigating a particularly gruesome killing, the beheading of a woman, after her husband — an influential member of the local Muslim community — reported her death to police Thursday.

Police identified the victim as Aasiya Z. Hassan, 37. Detectives have charged her husband, Muzzammil Hassan, 44, with second-degree murder.

"Blistering Open Letter from a Lefty Embed to Lefty Military Critic: You're a Coward....

As a journalist, criticizing military policy without talking to the military is completely incompetent. But with you, it goes deeper. You hide behind political artifice to lob your mines of pre-conclusion, like a craven wretch. And really, I think that goes to the solid core of the dregs of the problem. You're not a coward merely because you're afraid to seek the truth when it might not conform to your views ... rather your chickenshit views are shaped by the fact you're a coward.

I'm phobically allergic to the conservative Republican types the military is rife with, but I've only been in country four months and already I hate liberals. There's plenty of ugliness to report in Iraq (as there are thousands of stories of hope and headway)--and the U.S. military certainly isn't beyond reproach. Nobody's telling you to report on one side or the other. But manipulating the truth because of your own personal biases is wretched and works in the face of progress. The other end of the political spectrum disregards you, Dahr, and now I know why. I thought it was because you're a liar--but you aren't. You don't have enough backbone to be a liar. You're a craven obfuscationist, intent on promoting your agenda at the cost of a menagerie of much braver men and women."

Annoyances
I'm annoyed that while we slept, subversive communist slugs took over our schools, newspapers, entertainment industry, broadcast TV, and now House, Senate and White House. The American people(?) bought an empty wagon in November 2008. The "Beginning of an Error" is an understatement of biblical proportions. Sham, Scam, Shame, and Scandle: AKA democrat. This coalition of ignorance and indolence cannot survive long after real Americans are either dead or broke, but "Ah my friends and Oh my foes", what a lovely party the plan to have while OUR money lasts.

porkapoodles, ha ha ha (nickel MD)
Recent annoyances:
Calif delaying tax refunds(whose money is it?), but, still funding abortions.
Global Warming ads that use kids as guilt messengers.
Just plain annoying: Career Politicians, especially in Congress.(like oil in your car, politicians need to be changed every so often, this would eliminate legislation voted on just to be re-elected)

................
If I may add an annoyance.........

The series of books “____ For Dummies” should be boycotted. This weekend I was checking out some of the mobile websites on my cellphone and there was a mobile for dummies site with links to various topics. I checked out the Middle East link and almost threw my cellphone out the window. The Dummies mobile website had a list of the various terrorist organizations [hamas, islamic jihad, al aqsa martyrs brigade, etc] and a description of each one. They also added a Jewish group among these Islamic subhumans. The islamic jihadist groups were completely cleansed of terrorism and violence and only referred to as militants at worst. The Jewish group however was referred to twice as “extremist” with a spiteful tone throughout the description. Of course the leftist filth never mention that this Jewish organization was set up do defend the Jews from arab pogroms since the British, who controlled the area, failed to do so.

Some years back I did buy a “___ for dummies” book; it's going into the fireplace tonight.

Carlos & Brickhouse

It is easy to confuse Fat Al Gore and John Kerry and John Edwards. All three of them are empty, elitist vessels.

Actually, I am kind of surprised than even more of his kids aren't screwed up. He abandoned them when he was inventing the internet.

Denise ... More Gore

Interesting was the incident with Gore's son - driving 100mph in a Hybrid Prius, loaded with prescription drugs and marijuana.

http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=3345350&page=1

Not only did the young Al Junior find himself trapped in a lethal cycle of self-abuse... He also found himself fatherless.

Sadly, Daddy Gore couldn't bring himself to go visit his son during this time of need.

Al Gore is a very disturbed man.

Denise: My Bad, You're Right
I was on a PO-roll and confused their names. As bad as these Johns are, my preference is Edwards.

"A momma's boy who despises his Father"

who grew up in a D.C. hotel suite.

Yes, that was "reality" for him then and mansions/private planes now.

Besides, anyone that partners with the Naked Emperor Hank Paulson deserves great skepticism.

Denise ... Al Gore's a kook...

Al Gore is an optimistic, greedy, secretive, light-hearted, narrow-minded, underhanded, bottom-feeder. A momma's boy who despises his Father.

I actually don't know Al Gore at all - That is my analysis of his handwriting.

Psychopaths are pretty easy to identify through their handwriting.

The Good News.......
Dr Douglas "He never provides evidence for his commentary, and seems to view his readers as idiots."

The Bad News: It is the ignorant that need be provided evidence.

Common knowledge need not be cited in a conversation amongst equals. When a person cites behavior that has manifested a clear pattern, it is not a smear.

Pattern: The Reds, Pinks, Dupes and Useful Idiots object to conversations that would tend to spread a base of common knowledge amongst the "masses" and reduce tolerance to politically motivated behavior.

Me Bad.
Sorry for duplication.

I Hate Fat Al Gore.

Period.

Several weeks ago, he was caught on tape telling 12 year-olds not to believe their parents. That they were smarter than their old, dumb parents. That their parents are liars.

Schools, who now, encourage students to patrol and report their parents carbon emissions and amount of garbage.

I thought that parents were supposed to be the parent not the children.

I am sick of your fraud. Of course, you did partner with the Naked Emperor Hank Paulson in a carbon credit scam. He of "too big to fail". You of the world is on the verge of a climate catastrohpe.

Hand up, ears closed, mind shut, go to Hell, Fat Al.

Well, Denise,
The One is using precious energy resources to fly out here to Colorado in order to sign the spending spree. That ought to get the windmills around Boulder going, though sunny skies are not in the forecast.

I'm with you-why didn't he stick around Friday night to sign it if it's so danged important? Sure wouldn've saved a heckuva lot of taxpayer dollars, to say nothing of the fuel. Then again, maybe he's conducting secret research on solar-powered jets...

Might it be that The One is just a fearmonger after all?

different standards
The most clear example is Obama's choice of a church. Anything else (Pelosi or Biden being factually way off on something) is minor in comparison. Wright was a revisionist bigot ("all whites" are guilty of crimes against "people of color" -- what historical evidence of that exists). Ironically, Obama (ulike the "typical" white person) had multiple white ancestors who owned black slaves. Yet, merely point this out (like Rush Limbaugh did) and you will be called a racist (like he was by Keith Olbermann). That is right -- just name-call and that solves all problems. The result of being politically correct can be found in examples like the Duke lacrosse case -- where totally innocent people had lives almost ruined by "educated" radicals who have money. This is our country -- like it or not. Even question revisionist history and you are automatically a "racist" -- so forget about employment in education, the government or large companies.

The Economic "Catastrophe"
Remember, last Thursday, when Obama said that it would be a catastrophe from which we might never recover, if his porkulous bill was not passed. The nearly 1100 pages was dumped on the House late at night, with 5 1/2 hours of debate only to pass it.

So, it is passed? But, where is Obama? Why did he leave Washington to meet Michelle in Chicago for a date? If it was so enormously important why is it unsigned?

Most sane people knew what he was doing with his doom-and-gloom cr@p tactics. The MSM, who just repeated his claim, helped scare both Americans and the World in believing that we are on the verge of a nightmare so you better hold on to whatever you have. Meanwhile, Europe holds 76% of the former Eastern-bloc countries debt, oil in free fall, which is making the petrocrats more like dictators, Russia and China are wary of our spending, Mexico is on the verge of collapse, etc., and Congress passes a boondoggle Band-Aid that Obama still hasn't acted on it.

Doesn't all of this resemble a pre-WWI & WWII environment? There are even protests against Jews in Europe and at least a third of Europeans believe Jews are to blame for the financial meltdown.

Still voting present.

Annoyance Ad Nauseum
The incessant use of the words "diversity" and "inclusive." Is it just me, or do the people who use those terms seem overtly self-righteous and bloated with self-importance? Of course they do! Plus, they act like we've never heard the terms before and think that we need to be beat over the head with them until we act and speak in the homogenized tones that they do!

Don't Torture GITMO Prisoners

Feeding the prisoners all the 'Pork' they can eat - certainly cannot be construed as 'Torture'.

Removing religious trappings - certainly cannot be construed as 'Torture'.

Pelosi's 500 million unemployed...

More evidence that Liberals cannot keep their inner fantasies separated from reality.

Pelosi's head is full of magical thoughts - with many zeros in tow - streaming like the long tail of a kite.

And it looks like her delusional disease has spread to the White House squatter.

He's not my president!
Please DO NOT refer to B. Hussein as "President Obama". Refer to him as "the illegal alien residing in The White House" if you wish, but he has yet to prove that he actually has the legal right to be called the POTUS.

If an armed revolution (or some similar act) does not eventually overthrow this treasonous administration, I will lose all faith in the good judgment of the American people. As it stands, I have very little faith left. After all, it appears that this devil incarnate was able to fool the majority of U.S. voters.

By the way, why do you good, rationally-minded people insist on debating with irrational, hate-mongering leftards such as Daft, RumpRanger, et al? Do you not realize that Liberalism is a mental disorder, and that it's virtually impossible for a Liberal to deal with reality?

Hey, I realize it can be [somewhat] entertaining to put these imbeciles in their place, but why give them any reason to continue their trolling spree? I simply flag their idiotic drivel and move on to the sensible posts.

Anyway, just my 2 cents.

Have a great week, my fellow Conservatives!

Perhaps when RW gets done with his dictionary and looking up the big words you are using, he can look up the word 'surrender', tell us the meaning, and explain why it is not a tactic used to win any war. While he is at it maybe he should look up the word 'appeasement', and then show me any place in history where that worked as well.

BTW... that was a really stupid sentence but the day is young, and I am willing to bet so is RW.

I don't know what you are smoking but you really should stop. You obviously have no idea what war actually is. Study that. Not from a tactical view but from a philosophical view.

Your only solution is appeasement and surrender. Nothing helpful there either.

I think that is worth a try,if it only discourages a few its worth it.

bostguy112

Agreed.

It may not be "politically correct", but I have absolutely NO PROBLEM if our enemies or potential enemies are SCARED TO DEATH about what we might do in retaliation to attacks.

For instance, some people believe Islamic terrorists have no fear because they are so willing to commit suicide in their attacks.

First of all - there are punishments worse than death.

And one thing they ARE concerned about is the afterlife they believe their martyrdom will bring them.

I say coat all munitions with pig's blood. Bury dead terrorists with the carcass of a sow, etc.

War is HELL - and it is not supposed to be something that allows antagonists to sleep well at night.

NOLA- I believe it.

I have been writing about NOLA and the Katrina effects on the populace for some time. I find Katrina very similar to what is going on nationally in social services policies. It is too bad that so many cities want to drink the proffered poison of the Feds.

bostguy112, Re: "RW"

People like "RW" seem to have no problem "moralizing" about so-called "torture", but who would also probably find all kinds of ways to justify moral equivalence where none should exist, such as "child porn".

And they NEVER offer an alternative solution.

My view is simple. We play by the rules our enemies employ as a matter of public policy, PLUS one level. (See "The Untouchables", Sean Connery)

Katrina is a text book sociology study of how and why social programs are criminal and do more to undermine the fabric of this country than anything else.

My husband is an expert in disaster preparedness and response. You don't want to know what he said to Nagin, along with others many others. The swear words alone would get me banned.

I will tell you though that after that policies very quietly changed. The policy changes were led by Democrats but hidden from the public so as not to admit culpability, as well as they needed their weapon against Bush.

True but latter day education is nothing but TRASHING tried and true principles, rules and common sense. Brainwashing of a sort?"

A truly educated person possess' critical thinking skills. Taking and teaching an automatic opposite position, then forcing it at the point of a gun or grade, is hardly critical thinking. People who do this feel too much and think too little. Wallowing in self loathing rules the day.

It is brain washing, but in some cases it is fascism in it's truest form, not to mention blackmail. A critical thinker can never be brainwashed, but they can be blackmailed.

"NOLA aka Baltimore, Philadelphia, Chicago and other Liberal Cesspools."

True, but NOLA had the worst natural disaster in the nation's history and received billions of dollars in bailout funds. Of course, the City resembled other urban cesspools before Katrina.

The Nation's today is NOLA so yesterday.

Instead, of learning from the random failed policies, the gooberment is taking it to the streets all over the countries.

An e vs no e

JFK screwed a thousand babes and the Demos thought he was the great one. Newt screwed one that we know of, and the Demo Hate machine took care of him.

George Allen said one word as a joke, addressed to one person, who really didn't care. He apologized immediately, and no one else in the world would have even known he said that, but the Demorat Hate Machine made sure it was repeated, but not explained, a million times.

Obambam called people “bitter” and that was ignored.

A teacher gave Dan Qauyle a 3x5 card with a misspelled word, and the Demo hate Machine spread the word, but never mentioned the teacher. Dan did not want to embarrass the teacher, so destroyed the card.

Many years ago I sent the LA Times a receipt I had received from a well known store that said I bought “potatoe.” I have the letter in my file from the Times, that says they have a thousand examples of that spelling, so didn’t care about mine.

Quayle didn’t want to embarrass the teacher, so wrote the word once. He wrote it once and the media spread it a million times. Millions of Americans spell it with an “e” all the time, and the media and the Demorat Hate Machine (that is redundant) has never mentioned that fact. Living in Penna and Ind. I have seen it spelled with and e, as often as without an e.

One editor said to me, “I don’t care how many millions spell it potatoe, that is still wrong.” But look in the dictionary, the language changes to reflect what people are saying.

I once attended a DC gathering in honor
of Marion Barry. (My cousin was the host, so I went for the food and drinks) When the honorable Mr. Barry was late, I remarked he had probably segued to Philadelphia after hearing the Liberty Bell had (a) crack in it. I ended up going home with a woman I really didn't care for, but she was the only one who would talk to me after my remark.

G'twin - It's Doubtful

Will Cao get relected?

I don't know, but it his probably highly doubtful.

NOLA is, basically, a banana republic, with a corrupt and inane Mayor and a city council that gets in violent screaming matches over trash collection.

The National Guard still patrols the streets, but can't prevent the murder of a band member in the middle of a performance by some guy in the audience.

I often write about New Orleans because I want to people to understand what happened in Katrina and what occurs when the feds dump billions of dollars into the hands of corrupt politicans. (30% of the money received disappeared into the back pockets of politicans, their family members and friends.

NOLA's "catastophe" and federal bailout was so yesterday and now the government is ramping up the same, old, failed policies nationally.

Friends who we had met in the US (they visited in our home), used the names Andrew and Grace, because those are names that people in the US could easily pronounce.

Andrew was the son of Henryk and Irena (we met them in the Warsaw Campground, and later they spent a night at our home in Calif., and we then visited them in Gdansk), and the brother of Vicky (Henryk's daughter who lived in Santa Ana).

For a few months in the US, Andrew was a chauffeur, and drove a Lincoln limousine. Later there was an advertisement for some one to drive a 1991 Lincoln limousine in Poland, and since he was the only person who had ever seen, let alone driven such a vehicle, he got the job.

Some of his customers have been reporters, in Poland to get the “Real Story.” But Andrew said that from a limousine, they don't get the real story!(Pruszcz Gd, Poland)

UNITED STATES HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON GOVERNMENT REFORM — MINORITY STAFF
SPECIAL INVESTIGATIONS DIVISION
MARCH 2006

PREPARED FOR REP. HENRY A. WAXMAN

… This report assumes that flight operating costs are $56,518 per hour for Air Force One . These figures are based on the per-hour cost figures cited by GAO for fiscal year 2000, adjusted for inflation.

According to the Congressional Research Service, the President’s domestic travel also involves the use of accompanying cargo planes.

This report assumes one cargo plane accompanies the President on each trip at an operating cost per hour of $6,960. This figure is based on the per-hour cost cited by GAO for fiscal year 2000 for the C-17 cargo plane, adjusted for inflation…

The President flies on a VC-25. General Accounting Office, Presidential Travel: DOD Airlift Cost for White House Foreign Travel, Appendix I, at 10-11 (Aug. 2000) (GAO/NSIAD-00-209).

The VC-25 plane has a speed of 630 miles per hour. Air Force, Fact Sheet on VC-25 – Air Force One (online at http://www.af.mil/factsheets/factsheet.asp?fsID=131)…

According to the Air Force, the C-17 flies at 450 knots, which converts to 518 miles per hour. Air Force, Fact Sheet on C-17 (online at: http://www.af.mil/factsheets/factsheet.aspfsID=86)…

The flight time for presidential travel to campaign-related events was calculated by dividing the total miles traveled by the President by the cruising speed of Air Force I.

Distances were determined using two Internet-based distance calculators:

.....I could make the arguement that Babe Ruth still holds both records since Maris had the advantage of playing more games in a longer season and Aaron had the benefit of 2,000+ extra at bats in a longer career ...

.....Ruth was a heavy drinker and sometimes hit homeruns while hung over ...should he be penalized for hitting alchol enhaned home runs? ...if a player has a headache and takes two aspirin before he hits a homerun, should he have that hit be expunged because he was under the influence of a drug? ...

.....Athletes will always try to improve their performance by whatever means possible ...should they all have to eat the same diet and follow the same fittness program ...should they all have to weigh the same and have the same height and strength to make all their records pure and fair? ...

.....The facts are that Bonds actually hit those home runs ...the fact that he increased his muscle mass by taking steroids should not be a consideration unless it was spelled out in the rules of baseball that this was prohibited and all players were tested periodically and randomly .....COLOSSUS

It seems abundantly clear to me that IF the radicals (hamas or whoever) would just stop lobbing these un-aimed balls of hate into Israel the Israelis could MAYBE become more given to the Palistenian problems. It just SEEMS to me that hamas/radicals WANT to keep the conflict going regardless of the damage/deaths in civilian neighborhoods. The fact that Barack Obama wants to destroy Capitalism in America, sounds ludicrous to most Americans. Barack Obama knows that to achieve his goals - this is a necessary action.

Barack Obama has one central goal, Socialism.

“The way to crush the bourgeoisie is to grind them between the millstones of taxation and inflation.” Vladimir Lenin

"The best way to destroy the capitalist system is to debauch the currency.” Vladimir Lenin

“The press should be not only a collective propagandist and a collective agitator, but also a collective organizer of the masses.” Vladimir Lenin

“The government is tottering. We must deal it the death blow an any cost. To delay action is the same as death.” Vladimir Lenin

Barack Obama must fulfill all of these quotes in order to install his Obamunism.

Barack Obama believes the destruction of the American economic system will be the success of the Obama Administration.

PRINCESS PELOSI'S COSTLY JET

I read an article outling the costs of Pelosi's new jet. She insisted on having a new one to fly to California every week because the previous one had to make a refueling stop. The article stated that the round trip costs each week was $60,000, one way. If this is true that would be over $5 million per year.
A quote from the article:
___
"Washington legislators who observed the Madam's Big Fat jet grinned with glee as Joe informed everyone that Nancy's luxury Jet will require hard working American tax payers, to buy thousands of gallons of expensive jet fuel every week. She only works 3 days a week but her gas guzzler luxury jet flights home, to California , costs taxpayers $60,000 one way! As Joe noted, 'Unfortunately we have to pay to bring her back on Monday night,' so there goes another $60,000.

Folks, that is $480,000 per month or an annual cost to taxpayers of $5,760,000. And she complains about the cost of the war? She could take the smaller jet which she says would cramp her style -- but since her flying in style takes precedence over war costs -- what the hell, eh?
Madame Peelo expects you and I to conserve our carbon footprint by driving smaller cars and buying a bicycle pump to over-inflate our tires for better economy while she and her hypocrite cohorts waste tax payer dollars. Ticks me off mightily! How about you?"
___

When congress was grilling the bank executives about their jet did they ever think how much we tax payers are paying to support Pelosi's life style? This woman is America's Marie Antoinette: Let them eat cake !

More from Peraeus
"Much has been made of the coalition’s recent successes against al Qaeda in Iraq. But only in a very focused way did Petraeus take an “enemy-centric” approach to the terrorist organization. Killing the bad guys worked because the killing was more discriminate and the hardcore elements were separated from the rest of the insurgency and the population support base. Thanks to new human intelligence gained from the population and former insurgents, these operations were more precisely aimed at small numbers of “irreconcilables.” Biometric devices helped create a computerized, shareable registry of possible insurgents, which led to more accurate targeting. Other technical means then allowed rapid targeting of entire cells, but it was human intelligence that ensured the targets were the right ones. Then, U.S. and Iraqi troops held the areas after counterterrorist operations, unlike in the past.

Another Pet Peeve....ACORN Operatives
I have no doubt many of these mindless musings from the left here at townhall are paid agitators for ACORN.

I did post a part of a solution, or, at least something better than destroying so much. His studies, ones used by Petraues in Iraq, show that winning minds is better than bullets. As Petraeus said

"FP: I was rereading an account of an Afghan veteran from Soviet operations there. After every retaliatory strike, he said, ‘Perhaps one mujahideen was killed. The rest were innocent. The survivors hated us and lived with only one idea—revenge.’ Clearly [U.S.] engagement in Afghanistan didn’t start out in the same way as the Soviets’ did, but one of the questions is whether all these occupations wind up similarly after seven years.

Taft

White Phosphorus
Taft: "The doctor whose 5 children never worked for Hamas. Besides how do you hide from white phosphorus? Do you know what that does to the body?"

It is immaterial whether the doctor ever worked for Hamas. He lives in a Hamas controlled area and Hamas uses him and his family to hide behind. He is aware of that. If he chooses to live under Hamas he is responsible for his own fate.

The use of white phosphorus for smoke and illumination rounds is not the same as an incendiary round and it would not have the same effect as an incendiary round. Israel does use smoke and illumination rounds but not incendiary rounds.

Palestinian Arabs are quite well known for faking injuries and even death. A Pallywood operation is quite an operation French Television has proven they faked the death of the little boy who everyone claimed was killed by Israelis during a gun battle.

Jerusalem and the Jews
Jews have been living in Jerusalem continuously for three millennia. They have constituted the largest single group of inhabitants there since the 1840’s. Jerusalem contains the Western Wall of the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism.

Jerusalem was never the capital of any Arab entity. In fact, it was a backwater for most of Arab history. Jerusalem never served as a provincial capital under Muslim rule nor was it ever a Muslim cultural center.

There is a double standard in that every Republican hiccup is a 'scandal'.

An actual murder would be called a 'mistake' if it's committed by a Democrat.

The MSM should pledge to tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth or close down. They are years behind already in truth telling.

Israel
Taft and other anti-Semites.

You imply that the Palestinian Arabs were pushed out of their homes by Israel. In fact the Arab population was pushed out by their own people. They were told to leave so the combined armies of the Arab countries surrounding Israel could come in and murder all the Palestinian Jews and then the Arabs who left could come back in and steal all the Jewish land. It didn't work and the countries that told the Arabs to leave Israel wouldn't accept them into their own populations. It is the Arab states around Israel that are the barbarians preventing the Palestinian Arabs from assimilating.

Taft
Well taft, just WHAT is your solution for stopping the Israel hating Hamas from just lobbing un-aimed bombs into neighborhoods in Israel? These flying bombs are just to cause terror and (hamas hopes) dead Israelis. Yea, yea, yea. Talk Talk Talk. That does no good with regard to the fanatics. With the information we get here Israel tries to target the locations from where the rockets are launched. From what we know Israel doesn't just fire missles into random neighborhoods or target known schoolyards. You know we would not put up with the hamas tactics here. At least we wouldn't in the past. Who knows what the messiah would do.,

Another good post
Interesting interview about Middle East coverage at Columbia Journalism Review with Sydney Morning Herald foreign correspondent Paul McGeough. A few excerpts:

http://www.cjr.org/campaign_desk/q_and_a_paul_mcgeough.php

People keep repeating that Hamas’s charter is opposed to the existence of Israel. Yes it is, but Hamas has not stood by its charter for the best part of the last ten years. Hamas has recognized the Oslo peace process, which it said it would oppose. It has taken part in democratic elections, which it has won. It has de facto recognized the two-state solution by seeking to be elected as the government of the Palestinian Authority. It has not struck outside historic Palestine; it never has. So to dismiss it as a terrorist group that has to be stamped out misses entirely the point of its position in Palestinian society.

And this:

I think if you look at the history of the last twenty years of Palestinian affairs, Fatah is the faction that consumed itself. It thrived on corruption. It represented so much of what is bad about the exercise of power in Arab societies. It wasn’t democratic; it was bullying. It was venal. And Palestinians—who, you would have to say, are one of most democratically inclined Arab societies in the region—could see that. They could see that you didn’t get a job unless your family was Fatah. You didn’t get the house. You didn’t get the car. You didn’t get your snout in the trough unless you were Fatah.

Paleocon
O.k. The strategy of the IDF was to hurt Gaza, collective punishment. It also helped their politicians get elected. As a WSJ article notes..

" GEORGE E. BISHARAT

Israel's current assault on the Gaza Strip cannot be justified by self-defense. Rather, it involves serious violations of international law, including war crimes. Senior Israeli political and military leaders may bear personal liability for their offenses, and they could be prosecuted by an international tribunal, or by nations practicing universal jurisdiction over grave international crimes. Hamas fighters have also violated the laws of warfare, but their misdeeds do not justify Israel's acts.

Taft not only ignored all the questions I posed. He also missed or ignored my points and offered only irrelevancy in return. (No, those children had nothing to do with Hamas or its rockets; but Hamas and its rockets had a great deal to do with _them_ and their sad state.)

I should've known better than to try conversing.

You can't use that crutch anymore. Own up to the faults of Israelis policy towards Palestinians as disgusting and work for progress.

Even the IDF sees the mistakes.

Not exclusive
>And the ability to tax, then punish if the taxes are not paid is a much more dangerous action to the people.<

You seem to be suggesting that this is exclusive to Democrats or the federal government.

Try not paying your property tax in a red state like Utah and see what happens.

sorry
Sorry for flagging Taft as offensive but I think most people find crass antisemitism offensive.

Give me integrity over oratory...
I don't care how articulate an elected official is. Public Servants need to be able to communicate their ideas and ideals, but EVERYONE puts their foot in their mouth occasionally. To use a verbal misstep as proof of idiocy is foolish in my opinion. I want to know what their ideals and standards are. Do they 'practice what they preach,' or are they self-serving hypocrites who say whatever their audience wants to hear?

When I find a candidate of integrity, whose values I agree with, I will vote and support them without reservation, even if they can't say two coherent words. (I'd personally rather read something written anyway and let their record speak to their sincerity.) If I feel a candidate has integrity, I will respect them even if I disagree with their views on an issue.

The other thing to realize is that articulation can be learned. I believe it was Demosthenes who was said to put pebbles in his mouth when he practiced his speeches in order to overcome a stutter. A speech impediment or incoherence can be overcome with training. Idiot notions require much more work to overcome, and unfortunately, most people never apply the mental effort to do so.

Water boarding isn't the only thing that we did, but believe me it is torture.

As Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) has pointed out, there's no question that waterboarding is torture: "[T]o make someone believe that you are killing him by drowning is no different than holding a pistol to his head and firing a blank. I believe that it is torture."

my two cents
Burt - good piece.

Baseball - integrity is like virginity - once it's lost it's lost forever. That is - forever.

Major league baseball is a farce. Baseball is still a great game, but major league baseball is a farce. To pay a man twenty five million dollars to play baseball for one season is obsence. The fact that another man - manny ramirez - turned down an offer of that size is only proof of the fact.

On the other hand - to grab a brew and sit and watch high-schoolers battle it out, or possibly go watch the Portland Sea-Dogs, is still fun.

But major league - forget it.

My Annoyances

Are posters such as "RW", who write such things as:

"Columns by Burt Prelutsky, who never lets having nothing to say prevent him from saying it."

... but yet take the time to not only read, but comment, on a "nothing" article.

Makes one wonder about the definition of insanity.

Seawolf
I disagree. These people are as good, or bad, as any other. When the conception of an Israeli state in Palestine first arose, the Jewish people represented 7% of the population, now Palestinians are pushed out of their homes in the West Bank and blockaded and starved in Gaza. The man who lost all five of his daughters, was actually seeking peace and not interested in fostering hate or supporting suicide bombers.

I see some real hope in the youth of Israel.

"Omer Goldman, daughter of a former head of the Israeli intelligence organization, Mossad, has gone to jail as a conscientious objector.

She visited the West Bank and came to know too much about what the colonists were doing to the Palestinians to be able to serve in a military that is an adjunct to colonization.

Annoyance
>The most strict adherence to the vow of silence comes from the MSM whose only purpose nowadays seem to be to provide cover for their mob bosses.<

My annoyance is people who use the term MSM, then distort it's meaning to scapegoat the press in a disingenuous way.

I'd like Ohiolad to give an actual definition of the MSM, then back up his accusations with facts,

Here's some facts from me.

CNN has only one real opinion show, Lou Dobbs, hardly a strict adherent to to a vow of silence on any issue.

CNBC has a show featuring Larry Kudlow, who I believe contributes to TH sometimes.

George Will(TH columnist) and William Kristol(considered a father of the neoconservative movement) are regulars on George Stephanapolous.

Conservative Joe Scarborough anchors the morning show on MSNBC.

Charles Krauthammer's column is in the Washington Post.

There are many more examples. The above quote is dishonest in its representation of the nation's media, which remains the most broad and diverse in the world, especially now with the part played by the internet.

RW
What REALLY annoys me is that some think throwing water up a terrorist's nose is 'torture'. Nevermind that said water-enhanced interrogation provably stopped at least three planned terrorist attacks....

FWIW, I don't watch '24'.

Taft
I never said liberals could not also be Christians.

The liberal definition of charity, though, is not one of helping those who truly cannot help themselves. It IS one of envy (A has more than B-how unfair!) and theft (therefore, we will steal from A to help B-after we take our cut).

True charity seeks to teach a man to fish.

That's where I'm coming from.

Taft
Why are they refugees?
Because no other arab country WANTS them and their problems. The arabs use them to further their aims against Israel and they are too stupid to see it.
The Israelis give them citizenship, but they reject it and peace because of their ideological hatred. What other group raises their own children to be suicide bombers?

"People" like these are evil, stupid and vicious, they are akin to rabid dogs, I cannot have any empathy towards them or their plight, it is their own fault.

Annoyances...
-- Use of the word "proactive." It doesn't exist, at least in the misusage popular with 98% of the population (the opposite of "reactive").

-- People (especially fellow conservatives, who should know better) who try to justify torture by saying "what if ya got a ticking time bomb, and you gotta get the terrorist to tell ya where it is before it explodes, huh? What then, huh, huh? I saw that on "24" just the other night!" People who work really hard to justify torture will always find an excuse to let their ugly impulses out.

Newest Parody from my blog
I know...he hasn't grabbed our guns yet, but it is just a matter of time. First our liberty, then our corporations and healthcare...next is guns folks. Quite a job for less than a month in office, eh?

Paul McCartney (The Beatles)

I'll follow the Sun

One day you'll look and see he's wrong
But tomorrow's a game
So you'll follow the One

Some day you'll know he took our guns
But tomorrow brings pain
'cause you followed the One

And now the time has come
Hawk or Dove, he must Go
Although you hoped for change
He's deranged and you know, oh

One day you'll find that he was wrong
And tomorrow brings pain
'Cause you followed the One
When Obama brings pain
You'll wish for your gun.

And soon the time will come
Hawk or Dove, he must go
And though he promised hope
Rope a Dope is B.O. Oh. Oh. Oh.

Some Day you'll see that he was wrong
When tomorrow brings Pain
'Cause you followed the One

true loss of liberty
I find it quite amazing that Democrats are so concerned about tracking financial transactions for suspected terrorist or listening to telephone call of suspected terrorists because those acts "are a threat to our liberty" and then support the largest spending bill in history. They also supported the ill fated TARP act. Both acts are far more intrusive on my liberty than either of the others.
You see, I am not a terrorist and I try to obey the laws of the country so the first two actions I see as attempts to protect all Americans. The last two are just the government trying to sustain their unconstitutional interference in our lives. The Federal government is the only body that can use force to take our freedoms. And the ability to tax, then punish if the taxes are not paid is a much more dangerous action to the people.
So, if you are going to criticize one administration for violating our civil liberties, be equally critical of the next administration that singles out one group of people to provide gifts and handouts for others, whether they are politicians or their constituents.

Seawolf
I know there is bad on the other side as well, but I'm not ignorant of the history of this region. The reason Gaza has so many children is because it's had large numbers of refugees coming there because they have no where els to go. The West Bank is being invaded right now. No American would for one second allow that in our country.

Paleocon
These children had nothing to do with rockets. One 4 year old, whose four older sisters died too, never even voted for Hamas.

My annoyance
Describing any combination of events as "the perfect storm".

taft in #39
This kind of post is why liberals are considered to be naive fools.
No-one wants to see a child suffer, but people like you never bother to look for the root of a problem.

If the arabs had accepted Israel and left her alone after 1948, the Israelis would never have had to fight any war or defend themselves. There would have never been even one dead arab at the hands of the Israelis, not one.

Therefore, if you're honest, you must admit that the poor child is a victim not of the Israelis, but of the arabs themselves. it is they who murder innocents for their twisted idealogy not the Jews, it is they who would cut the throats of your children given the chance.

No-one here is hard-hearted, the people here are simply not naive, they understand history and do not want to see it repeated either on the Jewish people or ourselves.

There are very bad people in this world my friend and they cannot be reasoned with, so other options must be utilized, singing kumbaya isn't one of them.

liberals and the mafia
I found the opening analogy between liberals and the mafia very apt because it does seem like the country has been taken over by an organized criminal mob. We cannot put any trust in their honesty. They give the appearance that think they are above the law, many of which laws ironically they have authored. Most of all, they rely on coercion and the 'my way or the highway' approach to getting what they want. The most strict adherence to the vow of silence comes from the MSM whose only purpose nowadays seem to be to provide cover for their mob bosses.

Barack Obama -> The Judas Goat

Barack Obama is nothing more than a 'Judas Goat' leading his 'worshipers' to certain slaughter.

Barack 'Judas Goat' Obama, will take America down, while his glassy eyed followers chant 'Yes We Can'.

Barack Obama believes the failure of America will be the success of his Administration.

Selectivity, thy name is Taft
"I just watched on line a video of a child in a Gaza hospital that was burned severely and has no medicine because the Israelis block it."

How was that child burned? By Israeli regulars trying to stop incessant rocket attacks against Israeli civilians by Hamas cowards hiding behind Arab civilians? By a malfunctioning Katyusha that some coward tried to launch from a schoolyard? By a bomb factory next door? And how many borders does Gaza have? Does it not also adjoin Egypt? Does Egypt block humanitarian aid, too? How can Egypt prevent bandages from reaching Gaza if it is, as it says, powerless to interdict weapons?

"Some pretty hard hearted people lurking in these threads.

You would know, for yours is evidently one of the hardest.

First Thing I Noticed
is that this article contains more true statements than the last 20 speeches we have listened to from our esteemed President. My new daily query is: Is there ANY natural law that the Left has not tried to reverse in the last 100 years? How much do you suppose that has wasted in terms of money and/or natural resources? Are they crazy? Or clever? Why don't we call the stimulus bill by its rightful name - The Great American Gargantuan Reparations to Fix Every Wrong the U.S. has Ever Committed and the Rest of You Can Go to Hell Bill?

Obama's Math Adviser - Joe Biden

"If we do everything right, if we do it with absolute certainty, if we stand up there and we really make the tough decisions, there's still a 30 percent chance we're going to get it wrong." Joe Biden

Barack Obama's response: "You know, I don't remember exactly what Joe was referring to, not surprisingly."

Even Obama 'The Messiah' doesn't follow his Math Advisers numbers.

What a pair, 'Is this the Blind Leading the Blind'?

Primus
Yes, Obama has goofs too, and because he's one of our most inexperienced presidents ever, will make political ones too. We're hoping he learns from them.

Eddie
I agree, but what I object to is the continual vilification of Obama.

SeaWolf,

When did Obama ever say he's "stand by the Muslims?" He just had some 30 killed with a predator drone.

here's one
When the left comes on to any thread, they get all tingly if it means they can spew BDS rather than look at the facts. You know how they hate those pesky things called facts.
I also dislike chest-puffers like Dr.Douglas, Robert and Hal.

Spot on, Burt!

Obama's $377,647 date My pet peeve

Remember when Barack Obama showed his derision towards the TARP CEO’s for their private jets and their taxpayer paid Las Vegas trip plans, and saying "the party is over"?

Well Barack Obama has a date with Michelle on Valentines day - certainly nothing wrong with that - in fact that is a good thing.

The date is in Chicago, IL.

Obama flew to Chicago Thursday morning, then back to Washington, DC, Thursday night, presumably for something about the 'Stimulus Bill'.

Obama then flew back to Chicago for his date Friday morning.

Where is his 'Carbon Credits' for his date?

Henry Waxman did a cost analysis on Presidential travel in March of 2006, trying to make then President George Bush reimburse the government, for what Waxman called personal travel.

Using Waxmans figures, Air Force One cost $322,153 and the cargo plane cost $55,494. For a grand total of $377,647 for Mr. Obama’s three round trips, for his date.

Will Waxman demand Barack Obama reimburse the government for the 'Obama Date'?

"Liberal Democrats hiding behind Christian virtues (while having no idea what the term really means) to advance their agendas annoy the heck out of me."

Why do you say this. Liberals are Christians too. This is why I try to get the Christians here to stop supporting Israelis murder of children and the US to stop their torturing of people. I just watched on line a video of a child in a Gaza hospital that was burned severely and has no medicine because the Israelis block it. Some pretty hard hearted people lurking in these threads.

Taft

Just two off the top of my mind:

Who said something about visiting all 57 states?

Or said something about not looking like ALL the "men" on the DOLLAR bills?

Pretty sure he is your president.

Taft -- 7:54 a.m. post

Taft, your Quayle quotes are hilarious. V.P. Quayle, without a doubt, was a first-caliber nitwit.

Mr. Prelutsky's point, however, is the liberal (and media) mindset refuses to acknowledge -- and in fact censors any comments on -- the unbelievable stupidity that issues daily from their side.

If you, Taft, can laugh at Dan Quayle, but not at a far-stupider Joe Biden, then you have a partisan blind spot.

Taft
Apparently the point you seek to make is that a Republican's gaffes are newsworthy; something to mock.

The Democrat, on the other hand, is unassailable.

Is that about right?

daft: YOU'RE annoying. In fact, if there

was room, I'd list every single one of YOUR posts.

Taft
Quayle may have been gaffe prone, but he never called our constutution a "flawed document".
He never advocated his own army.
He never vowed to "stand with the muslims".
He never advocated "spreading the wealth around".
He wouldn't have disassembled the very operations that have kept the country safe for 8 years.
He wouldn't have tried to pervert the constitution by co-opting the census.
And he never associated with nor was mentored by communists and outright thieves, let's call him a gaffe prone patriot in contrast to what might very well be the destruction of this republic under the clown we have now, which you and your fellow travelers seem so willing to do.

Mine:
"for the children" and all its' variations and permutations. It seems to elude our elected gentry that every thing a parent does is for the children, while nothing the Government does is. What could be good programs (Head Start for one) got so politcized its' a total failure, but we will fill that black hole with more money "for the children".

My annoyance
The phrase: "With the economy the way it is..." or any derivation of it.

Dr Douglas
Did you read the title of the column?

Major Annoyances
Spot on again, Mr. Prelutsky. As an adult, I do indeed understand your article.

One of my major annoyances -- D.C. elected officials acting holier than thou in those hearings they conduct. What hypocrisy.

Too many to list
Here's One: How many hours/days/rolls of film are expended on the Obama Photos on every magazine cover except Field and Stream?

I'm sick of seeing the Big O's toothy grin and/or grinning family. I'm actually surprised he hasn't displaced Oprah's ever-present photo on her O Magazine! (Or did I miss it?)

Just remember: Obama Lied and Liberty Died.

Burt's Burps
It is amazing that Burt can week after week write more stupid posts than the one before. His man just got picked as just about the worst president in history!

http://www.c-span.org/PresidentialSurvey/presidential-leade rship-survey.aspx

Gaffes
Burt--you failed to mention Obama's "I've been to 57 states.." and his "my Muslim faith" comments. I'm not sure the second was at all a gaffe. He sure has very close ties with the Muslim faith, especially in his childhood, a time in which ones primary values are formed. I've been told that one of his books even states that the Muslim call to prayer is (one of) the prettiest sound, and that he will side with the Muslim should the tides turn. Perhaps these are internet miss-quotes, I don't know, but I haven't seen a whole lot of liberals stating that they are lies.

Burt-are they factual or not?

Dear Burt
I'm going to do something that I never expected to do. I'm going take advice from our visiting expert on everything, Dr. Douglas: "Tell Prelutsky you want to be treated like adults - intelligent adults."

I do indeed wish to be treated as an intelligent grownup. Please arrange with TH to have Dr. Douglas excluded from this forum so that we intelligent grownups might converse with fewer interruptions. Most of the trolls on TH are like ten-year-olds trying to disrupt a dinner party by racing around the punchbowl and shouting all the naughty words they know. This one is especially bothersome because he thinks he's reciting Shakespeare.

P.S.: Just kidding. I'm glad that TH is more tolerant than, say, the Daily Kough. Further, even Dr. Douglas, who evidently won't use a question mark or apostrophe that isn't subsidized by the taxpayers, has entertainment value, albeit slight.

Dr D
you must be one of those 8 year olds commenting here.
Facts?
Just how many of Obambi's cabinet selections are tax evaders? But don't let that confuse your 8 year old brain housing unit. You don't even qualify for brain housing group yet!

There is no reason
that these fools on the hill should be up there as anything other than part-time legislators.
That's not what was intended. They only "work" 4 days a week and think of themselves as indispensible.
They cover each others butts and insulate themselves from prosecution until it becomes so blatant even the MSM has to report it.

This mortgage mess can be fairly laid at the feet of clinton, fwanks, dodd etc.Fwank should be prosecuted for his lies, yet we see this pompous pervert having the gall to grill CEO's for taking advantage of a system HE helped design.

The dems trolling for ever more votes amongst the "poor" will bring this country to ruin.

Daschle it all...
(Apologies to Mark Steyn; that line was too good not to steal)

Unca Alby #4: You beat me to the punch. The phrase, "I want to give something back to the community...", and all its permutations, is one of the most grating of phrases in all of the English language.

If one cannot laugh at 'Hairplugs' Biden when he miscounts the number of letters in the word *JOBS*, or The Speaker-ette of the House whenever she is at her most self-righteous, then I suspect one is without a sense of humor.

OBAMA Our liar in chief....
I have been wondering about the dog too. I guess he has as little understanding of his own kids feelings as he does for the veracity of his promises. Maybe he can get the kids to want a lobbiest for their pet. Maybe a Porkapoodle.

Where is AlGore?
Why isn't he screaming about BO creating fear among us?
He rants insanely about everything except what should be ranted about.

Burt, you nailed it again!
The line.."The price of breaking the code isn’t death, it’s something far more serious; namely, exile from their social circle." is priceless and oh so true!

Me too, Burt
How about having each pro-illegal senator stand before his constituents and tell them why they prefer illegal aliens to them. Tell them how "diversity" enriches our country. Tell them why poorly-educated, low-skilled lawbreakers are much better for a nation that loyal, patriotic taxpaying legal citizens. Tell us how it's okay from the border jumpers to bring 10 members of his family to feast at the table. Tell them how they must ante up the funds to take care of all these people. Tell them it's fine for their babies to become automatic citizens who will perpetuated generational poverty and swell the welfare rolls until this once-proud nation is simply another third world country, with clogged highways, unbreathable air, little water and filthy neighborhoods. Tell us, you champions of diversity. It will make fascinating listening.

Why can't these hacks write remotely
intelligent articles. This is the third one today. McCullough writes for the 12-year-olds, adams for high-schoolers, and Prelutsky for the 8 year olds.

For Prelutsky, there's no coherence within the paragraphs, and they jump from one to another in an almost random manner. He never provides evidence for his commentary, and seems to view his readers as idiots. It just one big discontinuous smear.

You shouldn't stand for it. Tell Prelutsky you want to be treated like adults - intelligent adults.

If we all wanted to throw the bums out..
then why are they still there?

Burt...

Dang it all, Burt !

If you want a lot of comments, you have to write more controversial articles.

I read this couple hours ago and said, "AMEN".

Now, I find out that everyone else agrees with you also.

I can only conclude that all the left wing nutjobs agree also, because I don't see where any showed, yet, up to refute your facts with their sublime ignorance.

Are you losing it?

Check Dr. Adams' column. Nutters galore ! OK, I realize that includes me.
Mea culpa.

Sorry, big guy.

Burt's big fan, AKA The Rat, ret.

Fat Al Gore

Is beyond annoying.

It is bad enought that he and his environuts have assaulted us, but when Gore tells a group of 12 year-olds not to listen to their parent because the savvy youngsters are smarter than their old, dump elders.

Parental subversion. Fat Al, meet brick wall and face the parental firing squad.

Brickhouse - Confusing Johns

It was John Edwards of the Two Americas that got caught leaving the hotel room of his "second" family.

John Kerry was the triple-shot in the arse Purple Heart Recipient.

I don't blame you for confusing your Johns since they are both millionaires, who patronize to the "poor". They both talk the same con game, but John Edwards has better hair and doesn't look like a Frankenstein creation.

Annoyed That America Always Gets Blamed
Another thing that really bugs me is how with the Democrats in power, America is always the aggressor, the greedy one, the bully. They tell us America uses too much of the world's resources, that's why they'd prefer to see America rocked back into a third world country, living Ahmish style. They forget that Americans are entrepreneurial geniuses; America invents the coolest stuff, and we share our technology with all our friends.

America is the greatest country in the world, not the problem. If our leaders cannot see America's greatness, how can they possibly inspire the country? This is why it is so easy for Obama to go out and knowingly give a speech that that he knows will depress the economy.

Washington, D.C. isn't on the side of the American citizens any more. Their concern is for the world. Obama is now campaigning for the position of President of the World.

Some REAL Annoyances

All those, who claim that we are "unpatriotic" if we fail to pay more in taxes, but decide not to check the box to forked over more voluntarily.

All those, who claim that taxes are good for the Gooberment, but fail to pay taxes at all.

Want to show some real annoyance? Get your taxcheatstamp.com bumper sticker.

And I'm Sick Of Nancy Pelosi Too
I hate listening to Nancy Pelosi, I hate looking at Nancy Pelosi. I see an evil, old woman.

All that botox injected into her forehead has poisoned her mind. Botulism on the brain; just look at her math and reasoning skills. Time to send Nancy back to San Franciso to her rats. She's done enough damage to America!

I'm Sick Of The Double-Standards Too
One set of rules for the Democrats; they get very little negative media coverage, and usually it's very sensitive and understanding coverage. Poor John Kerry, caught coming out of his mistress and love child's hotel room at three in the morning. Poor John, his wife has cancer you know. It must be very, very difficult for him." Tom Daschle purposely forgetting to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes is simply a "mistake." No big deal.

A Republican caught tapping his foot in a men's room or sending naughty e-mails is forced to resign in disgrace.

Sick, I'm sick of it.

Corrupt Career Politicians Annoy Me
I'm in favor of term limits on Congressional and Senatorial seats. Two 4-year terms (at the most), then go home and go back to whatever they did before going to Washington, D.C. to lend their expertise. If they have a "plan" the country would benefit from, eight years is enough time to pass legislation; if not, they were either useless or the "plan" was stupid to begin with.

Eight years doesn't give these politicians much time to forget who they work for. These corrupt Legislators have dug themselves deeply in the crevices of power, greed and corruption in Washington, D.C.

Look for example the nitwits in San Francisco who keep electing Nancy Pelosi and making the entire country suffer her. Nancy Pelosi is poison to America, as are most of the Democrats in power. They are infact, anti-American in their ideas and goals.

What President in your lifetime have you EVER heard purposely talk down the economy. To go out of his way to depress it?

I think it was Thomas Sowell --
I think it was Thomas Sowell who had a good annoyance -- the concept of some wealthy person "Giving Back to the Community" by doing some sort of charitable work -- the presumption being of course that by virtue of being wealthy, he must have "Taken" something.

Generally when somebody "takes" something we try to sic the cops on 'em and lock them up.

People don't get wealthy by "taking", they get wealthy by "trading". They have *already* "given back" to the community by selling us something we wanted to buy, and we happily made them wealthy because we wanted what they had to sell.

There's nothing wrong with charitable work -- but the implication that charitable work is "giving back" something that wasn't supposed to have been "taken", as if the wealthy person is supposed to feel guilty for being successful -- is annoying.

There isn't enough room
to list all the things that annoy me. But let me submit one.

The phrase bipartisan. I hate it, especially when they try to use it to describe some legislation. It means two sides. It usualy requires that one side cave and set aside most of their idology in favor of the other sides political view. The result is usually bad legislation.

I'm for non-partisan legtislation. That indicates everybody dumped their idology and did something in the best interest of the country.

A Few Annoyances

Is Class Warfare Waged by the Ruling, Wealthy Politicans.

Another annoyance is the L.A. lawyer, who filed a FOUR BILLION DOLLAR CLASS LAWSUIT AGAINST MILEY CYRUS. The lawyer claims that her "one million" Asian-American clients had their civil rights violated because a teenager made a goofy face in a photograph.

And, just as annoying are the octo-mom and the fertility doctor that implanted anything in her after she had six kids and was living on food stamps and disability payments.

My Annoyance
That idiotic phrase, "From Main Street to Wall Street." Enough with that bs already!
