Wall Street Benefits Twice from Bailouts

Do you feel the leaked information from a global warming alarmist organization is meaningful?

Senator John McCain attempted to disguise reality by calling the $700 billion Wall Street bailout a “rescue,” but it’s obvious that the only people he and his colleagues were rescuing were the executives who had made bad investment decisions, as well as the politicians who had pushed increased mortgage lending, irrespective of cost, triggering today’s crisis. Now it turns out that the companies getting bailed out will benefit twice.

Most everyone has seen the story of how executives at AIG partied at a resort after the taxpayers were stuck with the bill for an $85 billion bailout—now being supplemented with another Federal Reserve loan of $37.8 billion. But what’s $440,000, including more than $23,380 for spa services, among friends when the taxpayers are paying?

Normally politicians wouldn’t have any business complaining about the cost of a corporate retreat, but what might be unexceptional for high-flying companies in a booming economy becomes outrageous when taxpayers are getting stuck with the bill.  In this case they are paying twice, with the company collecting a new loan because its bottom line is even worse than originally thought.

Loan-two to AIG is small change compared to the extra benefits that Wall Street will receive.  Many of the largest firms will be going to the spa, figuratively, at least.  You see, someone has to manage all of the securities and other assets that the government plans on buying with taxpayer funds.  And who better to manage them than the very companies that bought the bad paper in the first place!

The Treasury Department has requested proposals for asset managers, and according to the Wall Street Journal, the government “wants large, established firms with significant assets to work for the government’s program.”  That means managing at least $25 billion, and in some cases at least $100 billion, in private assets.  There will be a lot of money in fees—typically 1 percent of the assets managed, which could come to as much as $7 billion a year or more if government purchases go past $700 billion, as is widely expected.

Wall Street is looking forward to milking this latest cash cow.  Since government jumped into the investment business, the Journal tells us that “a range of firms—from large investment banks to boutique real-estate companies—have been angling to grab some of the advisory business.”   Representatives of some companies showed up in Washington to lobby even before Congress approved the bailout.  And who can blame them?  The Journal reports that “sales, financing and other traditional forms of real estate business have dried up with the credit crisis.”

Of course, most of these firms helped cause that very crisis.  Most of the companies bidding for government business are suffering big losses and preparing to unload lots of bad paper on the government.  Bad paper that other big companies with big losses and lots of bad paper will manage.

And so the circle will go on endlessly, at taxpayer expense.

The only problem is potential conflicts of interest, since companies will, notes the Washington Post, “be managing the assets while also selling their own troubled securities to the government.”  But officials say they will attempt to “minimize” any conflict.  No doubt, Washington won’t let a little thing like ethics stand in the way of letting everyone on Wall Street profit.

Indeed, politics are starting even before the president’s signature on the bill is dry.  One analyst predicts that the Treasury Department will focus bailout funds on regional banks and thrifts, thereby providing “critical political support for Treasury’s efforts.”  After all, “Congressmen who had to swallow hard to vote for this think will feel a lot better about it if they see the impact in their local communities.”  Which is just another name for pork, like the spending programs and tax preferences loaded into the $700 billion bailout bill to win votes for passage.

All of this is politics as usual in Washington, and it won’t change whether Sen. Barack Obama or Sen. John McCain is elected president.  Both of them supported the $700 billion Wall Street bailout, as well as the many other bailouts that preceded it.  Both of them are part of the political establishment that helped create today’s economic problems. Neither of them will take the steps necessary to ensure that this sort of economic crisis doesn’t hit again.  Only Bob Barr and the Libertarian Party are offering the sort of fundamental change that the American people need and deserve.

"Republicans have become the party of fear and Democrats the party of hate..." - Bob Barr

Libertarians are the party of Liberty.

Fear, hate, Liberty...which do you support?

Anne and others
Do you know what a coonass is? Many who are a coonass view the term with pride, others don't. It is very similar to the term redneck. Rude, ignorant, and arrogant I may be, but at least I know what an actual Marxist and communist is and Obama is not. Taken as a whole or taken in part. And Anne I'm still here. As for name calling, your friend Summers (the woman of the thousand names) engages in that first (as do you since neither of you have anything of substance to say). And I tend to have a zero first-use policy in regards to that--she called me a Formosan Termite and I called her a coonass in response.

As for other comments, while one can debate the US forces in Iraq today as a force of occupation, there is no debate that under the CPA, the US was a force of occupation--from April 9, 2003 until June 28, 2004 just as the US troops in Japan under SCAP from late August 1945 until September 8, 1951 were a force of occupation (something our expert Anne doesn't accept).

Barr is getting around 1% support, so he will have zero impact on McCain losing and he will lose.

Many DC Whores Will Become Lobbyists
Many of the elected Corporate Welfare Socialist Whores in DC in both the GOP Socialist Party and the Democratic Socialist Party will now be thrown out of office by the American taxpayer only to stay in DC and become lobbyists for their Corporate masters to the tune of several million dollars, a substantial pay raise with largesse to boot. They will be given lucrative positions on Corporate Boards with nice stock options packages as a reward for playing the faithful corporate whore. Many will eventually join the new scam they have just voted into law to make even more money off of the American taxpayer jsut as Jamie Gorelick, Louis Freeh, and Harold Ickes did with the FM&FM scandal. To think you will ever end this madness by electing more career politician lawyers from either of these 2 Socialist corrupt-beyond-comprehension parties in DC is to believe that we can end the drug trade in Colombia by sending crack addicts to go capture them - utterly ludicrous!!! Only a 3rd party can execute real justice and CHANGE in DC.

All That Will Come From This
is MORE, NOT LESS, government corruption. Is there some way I can put my stock in some sort of "corruption fund" because crime is apparently the only thing that pays in DC and on Wall Street??? You know, come to think of it, maybe I can ask the Federal government to buy back my Federal college tuition loans. Let's all make the most ofthis Socialism because, come what may, whoever wins after November the 4th, whether it be Obamanation or, by a longshot, McShamnesty, is guaranteed to be yet another Socialist. Welcome to the USSR: The United States Socialist Republic.

RealCon
The theory of Reganomics is sound. The only problem was that it didn't incorporate the greed factor. It didn't predict that since that time, thousands of laws would be passed to FAVOR businesses rather than letting them operate in a free market.

I am still a firm believer that businesses are the heart of capitalism and economic prosperity. But, in a free market, they would have to have to suffer the consequences of bad decisions or market whims. This means we would have to stand by and let the airline industry struggle after 9/11 (we should have if we truly believe in a free market.)

The real problem is that no one truly had faith in Reagan's plan, or even in free markets. And the power base decided to twist it to their advantage with a willing and whoring congress.

We can't truly say that Reagan's plan failed, it was honestly never even tried.

It is unlikely...
...any good will come out of this mess if McCain does not lose by huge numbers. It must also be obvious that a large number of those votes went to 3rd parties. A close race will convince the RNC power-elite that they must do a better job at more-of-same to stage a comeback in 2012.

You know, Obama's a dweeb,
no argument here, but if you put aside all of the hyberbole and look at what he's been able to accomplish, calling it a hill of beans woud be a generous assessment. Same with the current Congress. Somehow even putting these two zeroes together doesn't really scare me all that much. I dunno, call it basic math.

Now if you look at what McCain's actually accomplished while in office, McCain-Feingold, McCain-Lautenberg, gang of 14 (Can anybody seriously expect originalist SCOTUS nominees from him?)? How about the current fiasco? Who would have pressured Congressional Republicans to cave, Obama or McCain? Who would have helped lard it up with the goodies necessary to change their mind? Most likely Mr. "anti-pork".

Look at what his top two legislative priorities are: McCain-Kennedy (amnesty) and McCain-Lieberman (cap and trade, any of Obama's tax proposals are piddling crap by comparison to this monstrosity). Look at what else he's proposed: Dems in his Cabinet, Mario Cuomo (Dem, Clinton HUD Secretary who largely contributed to this mess).

Look what happened to polling numbers to Republican Congressional polling numbers when they opposed McCain and the bailout, they went up. Guess what's happening now that Mac and co. go them to cave?

Mac is the proven danger, as far as I'm concerned, and also poison to Republican chances in the House, which is the key point for me.

Thus, go Bob (or Chuck) go!

2012?
After the 'Years of The Bush Farce' republicans will be lucky if they are voted in again in 2112, never mind 2012.

You know
I stop at the same gas station every day on my way to work for a pop and a sandwich for lunch. I have found that when I choose a particular flavor of sandwich, it will be well stocked for about a week. Then, the following week, my preferred flavor is removed while there is now extra stock of the less popular flavors.

Why do you suppose that is? Couldn't be a company trying to promote an unpopular brand by limiting my choices, could it? Why would a company intentionally short a store of its most popular selling products while giving it an abundance of things they never sell?

Anybody else notice this with vending machines, too?

See, I just won't buy anything when they do this. But how many people fall for it and just buy the lesser of bad things? Obviously a lot, or the strategy wouldn't keep getting practiced.

This is essentially what the republican party (and the democratic party) have colluded to do. Just like the recording industry, movie industry, oil companies, etc... While they act like competition to each other, they always meet with each other and conspire to limit the markets to benefit the whole industry.

This is why when there are trillions of dollars of taxpayers money up for grabs or something comes across the desk of our congress that is really bad for our country and the taxpayers but very good for the power-base, they will always somehow "find" bipartisan support for it. See, they don't really care that it hurts America. They want a global economy and a global government anyway. They realize they are getting to the point that they just can't suck too much more blood from the American taxpayers and soon they will have to dump the whole "USA" concept and just throw us all into a global slave... uhh work force.

The fools are those that believe this is only the goal of the other party. Their is no "other party."

Great News!!
Our latest polls conducted and released by the Rockefellar institute shows McCain is in the lead against Barney, the purple dinosaur! This is great news and cause for celebration! If this trend continues, by 2012, people will be voting republican again.

Don't worry, we have negotiated with the dems to ensure that enough of the taxpayer's money and government socialism will find it's way into our coffers. While we would obviously prefer to win outright and control the theivery so we can compensate your hard work on the forums, we are going to have to settle for only being able to afford six-figure incomes for the top elite. We aren't forgetting you, though, and truly appreciate all your efforts.

Oh, I also was just informed that the news from last month that we would be outsourcing our forum propoganda campaign to India may not be as big as originally reported. Since we won't be able to pay you anyway, we are just going to keep it here and give much deserved raises to the hardworking elite.

Finally, you may suffer a job loss in the next coming months. Don't be too concerned about us, the GOP party will survive it. Our expert economic-terrorism panel has scheduled this to scare the American people into accepting a very high-profile theft of the economy that we have been planning for about a year now. You probably won't be able to recover that job, but knowing you are conservative, we know that you will tighten your belt and make it through it. The important thing is that our party and GOP elite will be fine and it is a regularly scheduled plan. Once we exceed the greed of our glorious elite leaders, we will make sure the rest is finally sent to you. So, keep up the hard work and high morale; the reward will eventually come! Trist us- the check is in the mail!

IMPORTANT MESSAGE
Apparently the memo didn't reach all of our subscribers, so please listen carefully:

The "McCain wasn't my first choice, but..." line has been grossly over-used!! Warning! It is becoming too obvious that it is propoganda. It initially had a good run and was very effective. But the official memo dropped it about 4 months ago. Please, stop using it.

I repeat, this line has been backfiring on us for nearly a month and somehow many of our subscribers missed our repeated attempts to stop it. Please check your junk-mail folder as you may be inadvertently filtering our messages. From now until Nov. 7th, all of our messages are timing critical. It may not be unusual for you to receive updated talking points every few hours. Please check your email before beginning your work on the forums!

Keep up the good soldiering and we will make sure some of the taxpayer's money ends up in your pockets, too.

Thanks,
The GOP elite

Thought you guys
might like the template I provided so you don't have to keep retyping the same crap over and over. Just copy and paste it, then insert the proper names in the appropriate spots. Be sure to use the latest templates because after people see it a thousand times coming from different people, they will recognize it for what it is. Feel free to add some of your own personal style and misspellings to it to add variety, but please stick to the official talking points. These talking points were chosen by a very talented think-tank of advertising and marketing personnel. If you stick to their buzzwords people will think you are smart. Stray too far off the official line and unfortunately, we will have to come and yank you off the stage and remove you from the talking points mailing list. We will also call you a moonbat and find one of your coworkers also on our list to ruin your reputation at work. So, please, just stick as close to the official talking points as possible. Remember, if we loose the other guys get the benefits of the government socialism. Obviously, we want to keep it for ourselves.

GOP TP Template:
Look [insert conservative here] are (sic) armed forces are not occupiers and you only called them that because you had to get the unendowed vote of the [insert conservative party here.]

We know the facts except you forgot about the Kernal of the issue whichs is [insert liberal organizations here.] You blab about greed and corruption but you are just selling out to the Chatty Kathies of the world who can't see that you have [insert insulting dismissal contradicting your level of anger here] of doing anything this cycle.

Your ignorant stunt can only serve to siphon vote away from [insert our choice of liberal Republican here] which if sucessful would give us to [insert democrat here.] I think that qualifies you as an [insert childish temper tantrum here] with a dangerous understanding of the future of this country.

Not everyone is reading your form-letter for the first time, so call them a conspiracy theorist right away to discount them before they get a chance to point it out to everyone.*

Just goes to show
that you can't fix stupid!

If Barr takes votes away from McCain, wouldn't that be because people find his policies more attractive than McCain's? Why do you think that is?

If Barr has a "dangerous misunderstanding" about our foreign policy and that simply isn't compatible with conservative beliefs, wouldn't it stand to reason that the "anti-war, traitor liberals" will vote for him, NOT republicans? Why do you think conservatives would vote for this, and take votes away from McCain?

Does MY conservative vote somehow BELONG to the republican party? YOU want to LIMIT my choices?

I am so glad the GOP hacks have decided to spit out this crap ad nuaseum. It defies reason so much that people actually wake up and say "wait a friggin' minute!" And also realize that the "Republicans" are just fine with their corrupt crony system of socialism and don't intend to change. No, they just want to stomp their feet and cry "You can't vote for someone else! Your vote BELONGS to us..."

Folks, if we get Obama, it is YOUR fault. America was voting "Republican" Why do you suppose they won't be this time?

It'd be different if we actually thought the GOP wanted to clean house, but they don't. The "Ron Paul crap" proved that beyond a shadow of a doubt.

We get socialism, it is YOUR fault, not ours. We voted for conservatism. What did you vote for again?

You just can't fix stupid.

Barr is grade A+ moron
Look Bob are armed forces are not occupiers and you only called them that because you had to get the unendowed vote of the Libertarian Party.

We know the facts except you forgot about the Kernal of the issue whichs is CRA. You blab about greed and corruption but you are just selling out to the Chatty Kathies of the world who can't see that you have ZERO chance of doing anything this cycle.

Your ignorant stunt can only serve to siphon vote away from McCain which if sucessful would give us to Obama. I think that qualifies you as an irresponsible jerk with a dangerous understanding of the future of this country.

I really used to highly respect your opinions but you have lost it Obama is a nightmare we don't have time and this ain't the place for you Ron Paul light crap!!!

Bar Bob Barr
Bob,what are you getting out of this run? Who is paying you to throw the election to Obama? Is it Soros?

When Ross Perot ran ,he gave us Bill Clinton, because he hated the Bush Family. Who do you hate?

If you truly wanted to make a run for it,you would have started long ago. You are playing right into the left's hands. I hope yours are clean.

Barr makes some good points! BUT, it is

NOT TRUE that "Both of them are part of the political establishment that helped create today’s economic problems."

Many of us have already posted, countless times, Pres. Bush's request (2003) and McCain's (co-sponsored) bill (2005) to have the mortgage industry investigated and some oversight put into place.

And, we've ALL seen the C-Span clips of the dems resisting any and all need for investigation.

Sorry, this entire mess can, and is being put at the feet of the dems... going back as far as Carter.

Earlier today, someone observed that IF there was ONE Republican whom the dems could blame for this mess... that Republican would have already been publicly drawn and quartered!!!

Akagi: Obama IS, by all means, a

Socialist/Marxist/Communist!!!!

You can pick apart a plank here or there, but as a WHOLE, his philosophy and agenda IS Socialist/Marxist/Communist.

As many times as you've tried to "baffle us with your BS," you're still just spewing BS.

And, as far as calling Summers a "c**nass?" You are completely out of line. As hard hitting as I often am, you are one of the rudest, most ignorant, arrogant posters on TH.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if, tomorrow morning, when the moderator returns, you're not banned.... as you should be.

That kind of name calling, and "name" is not something that should be tolerated... kind of like YOU!

Akagi, the Formosan termite
If you knew your colloquial epithets better, you could appreciate how off the mark you are.

I have seen Chuck Norris' columns but have not read them. I do not recall one written by McCain, Romney or Huckabee. When were they? I have seen posts by Fred Thompson but they were after he had left the race.

Akagi, the Formosan termite
I have changed screen names due to problems with the TH system. I have worked through Chris the moderator. If you don't like it, take it up with him.

No, I do not have the time to sit at the computer constantly. I have seen nothing from John McCain, although many articles concern him due to the race.

Go work on your English, little termite.

Barr
Let someone educated you about hotel contracts since I've worked 'em.

The contract was likely signed and decided upon what services & minimums had to be reached as a result of the room block rate.

Unless you see the contract, you're an idiot who is talking out his *ss cause his mouth knows better.

Attrition, noted on the invoice by the way, is very costly.

By the time this situation came to manifestation the money had been committed.

CONTEMPT PRIOR TO INVESTIGATION

Read the contract, then be outraged.

Twit!

Subject: I know, Bob
General Patten

I felt as you a day ago. But I've had it. Face it, McCain is Socialism lite. I will be voting striaght ticket libertarian this cycle. A fundimental change is needed in our government and trimming around the edges is not getting it done.

Mr. McCain is a fine man but outside of a belief in a strong military he hasn't a clue. I too believe in s strong military but if the country is headed in the direction of not being not worth fighting for, what does it really matter then?

Akagi
"This didn't happen in a mere 8 years."

Just for clarification, I was not referring to dollars spent but to legislation such as the CRA of 1978 which made the meltdown possible.

You know as well as I do how the veto works. The spending gets tacked on to a bill the president won't veto or on to one that congress will make veto proof, as in our recent bailout bill.

You would have to ignore the New Deal, the Great Society and all the other monuments to big spending to try and fit this mess into a 8 year time frame. The game plays on both sides of the aisle, regardless of the party in the WH.

Bush has done more than his share but if you check you will find countless times that the proposed budget grew by orders of magnitude. The River bill started as a 4 billion dollar request and ended up as a 23 billion dollar boondoggle.

The unfunded liability is more on the order of 53 trillion dollars. That's the big meatball.

These are just a few of the reasons that sent me shopping for a third party this cycle.

I have had it with noseholding.

We HAVE to vote for Barr
The two mainstream candidates are both big government statists.

Stock Market Blues
I have lost everything including my live in girlfriend. My portfolio was worth over three million dollars only four years ago---now it is worthless. My creditors have been hounding me day and night and I had to disconnect my phone service in order to get some sleep. All I am left with is savings of less than 75 hundred dollars. I blame my stock broker for advising me to invest all my hard earned money in the auto industry and even my car needs a new transmission. Instead of me weeping I have started over again by mopping floors in the local fast food restaurant. We all learn from experience and what I learned is to keep my money under the mattress.

Sir, you and Mr. Buchanan can
head over to Harold Stassen's grave and pay tribute.

Your view that you're entitled to degrade the Republican Standard bearer in order to secure one vote in every state says more about you than you'd be comfortable having me know.

The enemy is a stalking horse socialist that may be taking pan-arabist money to finance his campaign. Yet, you'd mock and ridicule Sen. McCain?

Get the ego in check. Lower your eyes and get off the stage.

Barack the Baby Killer!
Barack Obama said that women should not be burdened with a baby they do not want. Barack supports the act of a doctor taking a live, screaming, kicking, crying baby and driving a wedge into it's skull ruthlessly killing it. Then, the doctor takes the freshly murdered baby and wraps it into a trash bag and throws it into a dumpster. Do you Obama supporters agree to this kind of murdering of children? Barack Obama thinks this is just fine. After all, women should not be burdened with those little babies. Democrat solution: KILL THE BABIES. MURDER THEM! Ah, the wonderful Democrats. True lovers and protectors of human rights. Barack is the anti-Christ. Anyone who could support the murder of kids is a despicable, dangerous individual. But, then again, Obama thinks there are 58 states in this country and that we can solve the gas crisis if we just make sure our tires are properly inflated. Obama is dumber than his own supporters! And he supports killing kids!!!! Do you?!

I wanted Baldwin but
Barr will do. He is actually on a lot of state ballots. I'm tired of voting for the Stupid Party.

"Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost." -- John Quincy Adams

For Any Who Are Tired Of Noseholding
This is the place for you, all discussion welcome, even if you haven't yet let go of your nose.

http://viewfromtheisland.blogtownhall.com/default.aspx

I'm with you Bob
I cannot hold my nose any more. We need Statesmen.

BTW
For a copy of the Treasury's Request for Proposal that Barr refers to, go to treasury.gov.

I strongly suspect that the urgency of that bailout bill was that the undisclosed details had been worked out far in advance by people who are about to be voted out of office. The clock was ticking on them, not us.

Vote against the one-party socialists
Vote Bob Barr! The only choice this election is: "Do I vote for the one-party Marxist system or against it?" Vote against it.

This is a bi-partisan train wreck...
Presidents propose legislation but congress spends the money.

We went into a recession in March of 2001 and that requires failed quarters that had not been reported correctly during the previous administration.

In 2001 we still had a World Trade Center and the Pentagon and Pennsylvania countryside didn't have smoking holes in them.

The foundations for this meltdown were laid over decades by democratic controlled congresses and larded on by republicans when they had there turn.

This didn't happen in a mere 8 years. That argument ignores the history of the congress in the later half of the 20th century.

Barr is correct in everything he said and that message needs to find a large audience and fast.

Amazing!
Since Bob Barr is a candidate for the presidency, maybe TH ought to offer this forum to the two major candidates for columns. It is not hard to understand why ole disgruntled Bob complains. If a columnist complains, let it be one without a vested interest in the campaigns.

WLL
You do have another choice.

Bob Barr.

That's who is getting my vote. More enthusistically after reading this article.

Bush & McCain: Total Failures on Economy

What has eight years under the Bush McCain regime achieved economically speaking?

Nothing. The US has gone backwards!

The Federal Budget had a $211 billion SURPLUS in 2001 when Bush took office, but is estimated to have a whopping $407 billion DEFICIT in 2008, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

Average weekly earnings of full-time workers were $595 in the second quarter of 2001 compared to $719 in second quarter 2008, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. This represents an 18 percent increase over 7 years, or, about a 2 percent average annual increase, not keeping up with the annual increases in living costs during this time.

Unemployment was 4.2 percent when Bush took office, and is now 6.1 percent. And, more than 760,000 jobs have been lost so far in 2008, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 10,587 the day George W Bush was sworn into office Jan 20, 2001, compared to a 9,995 close on Oct 6, 2008.

In 2000, the Federal Debt represented 58 percent of the Gross Domestic Product. In 2008, the estimated Federal Debt is expected to climb way beyond 67.5 percent of the GDP, which would be the highest level of debt since 1940. This is according to the White House Office of Management and Budget.

As the nonpartisan “Congressional Quarterly” has reported, McCain voted 90 percent in agreement with George Bush, so McCain deserves blame.

Bush and McCain:
Total failures when it comes to America’s economic growth.

True, Bob, but behind the scenes?
Can anyone be surprised that the post-Reagan Republican Party took care of its own: the country clubbers, the Rocky Reps, the Fortune 500 donors and Israel First plutocrats who have replaced millions of disillusioned foot soldiers of conservatism, keeping the GOP afloat as a "virtual" party?

Now Wall St. has presented the bill for bankrolling the pseudo-conservative, warmongering, liberalism-mark-two outfit-- during the 20 years dominated in Republican counsels by neocons advising members of the Bush crime family.

Of course the bill is steep. These are money men.

Meanwhile your candidate is a pathetic dotard who almost joined the Dems twice this decade, the veep pick is a decoy duck for gullible grassroots types, the fix is in for cheap labor and Amnesty, the blueprints are being prepared for bigger and better wars to delight the military industrial complex that Ike identified and denounced... and that'll go on whoever wins the Nov. 4 charade.

Obummer will keep the blacks temporarily quiet during the slump. He'll make fewer enemies overseas, which suits the globalists behind both parties. They have finished parasiting on the Republican branch of their single warfare/welfare shadow party, and are moving back to the other side, for whom the magic mulatto will be a dutiful servant.

McLame seems to have stopped trying too hard. He's too tired, or somebody whispered the game plan to him: "Don't try too hard, Johnny- honorable second place, that's the deal".

I know, Bob
But, the American people only have two choices in this election. Outright communism(Obama) or more-of-the-same big-government tyranny(McCain). I am a die-hard red, white and blue America-loving, troop-supporting, strict Constitutionalist. But, I feel I have no other options than to vote for McCain. Because nothing scares me more than to have a dangerous, anti-American, muslim, terror-friendly, communist as our Commander in Chief.
