Poll
Do you feel the leaked information from a global warming alarmist organization is meaningful?

Few of us had heard of Glenn Beck a few years ago. Now the conservative talk-jock is everywhere. His radio show reaches eight million people. He's performing live before sold-out crowds on a comedy tour.

He's had No. 1 bestsellers in both fiction and nonfiction -- plus a new book, "Common Sense: The Case Against an Out-of-Control Government" came out this week.

And now he's host of his own Fox News show, which, even though it airs in the ratings desert of late afternoon, has a bigger audience than every show on the other cable news channels.

Why is he so popular? Beck says it's because he really believes what he says. I don't buy that. Rachel Maddow and Lou Dobbs believe what they say, but their audience is a fraction of Beck's. I hope he's popular because of what he says, like: "Both parties only believe in the power of the party"; "if we get out of people's way, the sky's the limit"; and the answers to our problems "never come from Washington."

Much of the mainstream media despises Beck. "The Daily Show's" Jon Stewart quipped, "Finally, a guy who says what people who aren't thinking are thinking." MSNBC's Keith Olbermann has repeatedly named Beck "worst person in the world," and one of his MSNBC colleagues compared his TV show to watching a "car accident." On "The View," Whoopi Goldberg called him "a lying sack of dog mess."

Some of his critics dislike Beck because they consider him a Republican lapdog, but he attacks both parties. He criticized the Bush administration's spending and bailout of AIG. He says that politicians from both parties are "lying to the people that they're supposed to serve," "flushing our country down the toilet for power" and ignoring the Constitution.

He points to the takeovers of General Motors and AIG as examples of government grabbing power it doesn't legitimately have. "We're giving our freedoms away," Beck says. "The American experiment was about freedom. Freedom to be stupid, freedom to fail, freedom to succeed."

Though Beck is a success now, he struggled for years with serious personal problems. His parents divorced when he was a teenager. "My mother was an alcoholic and a drug addict," he told me when I interviewed him for a "20/20" profile. She later committed suicide.

"When I hit 30, I was going down that same path. I tried for almost two years to stop drinking. I was a jerk. I fired a guy one time for bringing me the wrong kind of pen,"

Yet, Beck says, "I'd look myself in the mirror every day, and say, "You're not an alcoholic. You don't have a problem."

"One morning," he says, "my kids came down for breakfast, and they said, 'Dad, tell us the story of Inky, Blinky and Stinky and the Island of Cheese.' And I realized that not only could I not remember the story I told them, I didn't even remember tucking them in. So I said, 'You see how much you remember. You tell me what was the story.'"

That night he went to Alcoholics Anonymous. Not long after, he became a Mormon. I asked him why.

"I apologize, but guys will understand this. My wife is, like, hot, and she wouldn't have sex with me until we got married. And she wouldn't marry me unless we had a religion."

I asked Tania Beck about that. She laughed, saying, "He's not joking."

Now Beck says that Mormonism has grounded him, so he's grateful to his wife.

Whatever grounded him, I'm glad something did. Because it's good to have a super-successful cable-TV host arguing that life would be better if government -- Democrats and Republicans -- just left Americans alone.

"We should reject big government and look inside ourselves for all the things that built this country into what it was," Beck says.

You have about 1/10th of the information concerning Obama's COLB.

A COLB is NOT a birth Certificate.
His sister Maya has an identical COLB that says she also was born in Hawaii, but was actually born in Jakarta Indonesia.

Here is the law

Hawaiian state law allows children born outside Hawaii get valid Hawaiian birth certificates (S. 338-17.8)

The following Hawaii state law (Hawaii Revised Statutes S. 338-17.8) allows children who are born outside Hawaii to obtain valid Hawaiian birth certificates, depending on the residency of their parents.

This law isn't restricted to those born in the other 49 states; a child could be born in a foreign country and still get a valid HI birth certificate.

This law was added in 1982, as confirmed by law librarians at the U. of Hawaii and L.A. County law libraries.

Note the fact that this applies to parents living in the "Territory" of Hawaii, an entity that was dissolved in 1959.

If this law had been intended to only include children born in 1982 or later, would they have referred to the "Territory" of Hawaii? Clearly, this was intended to include those born before 1982 as well.

The source is here, and here's the text of that page:

[§338-17.8] Certificates for children born out of State. (a) Upon application of an adult or the legal parents of a minor child, the director of health shall issue a birth certificate for such adult or minor, provided that proof has been submitted to the director of health that the legal parents of such individual while living without the Territory or State of Hawaii had declared the Territory or State of Hawaii as their legal residence for at least one year immediately preceding the birth or adoption of such child.

Oberman
I didn't think it was possible for anyone to be a worse voice for liberalism masquerading as a news person or journalist than Chris Mathews but Keith Oberman proved me wrong.

I almost feel sorry for him. Almost.

Go Beck!
There is precious little on television worth bothering with but Beck's show is one of the few programs I arrange my day around. The other must-see is the Dave Ramsey Show.

Mind-numbed liberals and elitists will never be able to understand or tolerate Glenn Beck because they're unable to abide the truth. It frightens them to actually have to THINK. To consider that there could be danger in letting the government grow into a monstrosity is just beyond their grasp.

They've sold their souls to the Nanny State ideology long, long ago. They worship Obama. They spend hours watching mindless drivel in the form of stupid "comedians", filthy "comedy" shows, idiotic movies, crude reality shows, and propaganda (also known as today's "news") and the thought of facing truth and actually listening to anyone who speaks truth simply terrifies them.

To Robert CA: you said re Beck:
"This cannot be healthy for a society to have a charismatic but unstable individual with a giant megaphone shouting, "America is falling apart."
What positive thing can come of it?"

The Democrats got that very person you describe elected in November with [America is falling apart and we need] Hope & Change. You're right, what positive thing can come of it?

Steve and George
Olberman is a waste of air time. He hasn't changed much since he was the sports caster for KCBS TV in LA.

I couldn't stand watching him when he was reading the scores and showing highlights of the day's sporting events.

Olberman has had an anti-FOX attitude ever since he was fired from Fox Sports Net.

Olberman criticizing ANYONE or ANYTHING means nothing.

He is a product of our society being more focused on entertainment than on important issues which impact every ones lives.

Entertainment is a valuable aspect of life, but it isn't nor should it be the main focus of our lives.

PT
I'll get the accusations from Robert and those like him of wanting to see America destroyed for the following but.....

I agree with you, and think it should be more than just doctors.

The "rich" and big business are the targets of choice for the modern day Progressives. They demonize anyone who succeeds or seeks success in life through their own efforts or ideas. For them it is wrong to want to profit, unless it is another profiting off others.

When the Obama taxes on the rich kick in the rich need to retire or reduce their income. Only earn $1 a day ($365 a year), this way they avoid the high taxes and may even qualify for government provided social services.

When the "Global Warming/Climate Change" plan of Cap and Trade kicks in every industry that produces emissions should shut down operations. No emissions means no need to buy credits form the government to emit. Laid off workers will be eligible for all the social services and extended unemployment benefits.

The point of this is to show progressives the results of their actions and get the pain of the lesson those who vote them into office need to learn over with fast and quick. The flaw is the Progressives will resort to out right Socialism, Marxism, or Communism to correct the actions of the people opting to not play their game, but that will reveal them for what they truly are.

Like rebooting a computer to get it to work we need to reboot our government. While those hurt by Progressive actions opt to not play the game, voters can work to vote out the politicians who are in favor of the Progressive actions.

Who will the looters loot from when there are no rich or companies left?

Dear George
If Beck has been oft-named "WPITW" by Olbermann, he must be doing EVERYTHING right!

Crazy as a Fox
Those of you who write Glenn Beck off as crazy should rethink that. Watching Glenn interview the ACORN lawyer was like watching Bugs Bunny working over Tony Suprano...it was great!

Refreshing
If Olbermann says Beck is the "worst person in the world," he must be doing something right.

LETTER EVERYONE SHOULD READ
This letter was written by woman from Arizona to Glen Beck. This is a portion of it:
I'm an American citizen, 53, registered Democrat all my life. Before the last presidential election I registered as a Republican because I no longer felt the Democratic Party represents my views. The fact is I no longer feel any political party or representative in Washington represents my views or works to pursue the issues important to me. Please stand up and tell me that you are there and that you're willing to fight for our Constitution.
One, illegal immigration. I want you to stop coddling illegal immigrants and secure our borders. No amnesty, not again. Been there, done that. Two, the TARP bill, I want it repealed and I want no further funding, we told you no, but you did it anyway. Czars, I want the circumvention of our checks and balances stopped immediately. Fire the czars. Government officials answer to the process, not to the president.
Four, cap and trade. The debate on global warming is not over. There is more to say.
I entrusted you with upholding the Constitution. Speed reading a bill is a mockery of the responsibility I gave to you.
We no longer care about your political parties. You need to be loyal to us, not to them. If you do or can represent me, my issues, my views, please stand up. Make your identity known. You need to make some noise about it. Speak up. I need to know who you are. If you do not speak up, you will be herded out with the rest of the sheep and we will replace the whole damn congress if need be one by one. We are coming. Are we coming for you? Who do you represent? What do you represent? Listen. Because we are coming. We the people are coming.
On Glenn Beck's website a petition with comments can be signed to go along with this letter to Washington. Goal:100,000 signatures.

To Highlander Juan & the birth
certificate conspiracy crowd:
I am no fan of Obama’s and never have been, but this argument of his citizenship is just making the conservatives look crazy & deranged. The facts are Obama is President and he was legitimately elected by the people, now move on and deal with the crises at hand. There are so many more important topics to deal with and sticking with this one is just silliness. This will not get Obama out of office, but it WILL make the conservatives come off as crazy as the 9/11 conspiracy theorists and destroy the valid arguments we have.

Babies born to American mothers are American citizens: http://travel.state.gov/law/info/overseas/overseas_703.htm l

However, with that said, Obama was not born abroad, he was born in Hawaii and has shown his birth certificate. It was issued and certified by the State of Hawaii. People lose their birth certificate in fires and in family moves all the time and they need to be replaced with new copies from the state where they were born. He doesn’t need to show any more documentation. This birth certificate would be good enough to get a passport or any other government agency. If this doesn't satisfy you then let's hope you never lose your original birth certificate and need a passport. Please move on to another subject now and drop this one!

Good Luck
Glenn,I have followed you for a number of years.You always give us something to think about.
Please continue your search concerning Acorn.I think this could make Richard Nixon look like he had put his hand in the cookie jar.

Physician, heal thy self
Robert from California considers Beck a dangerous person. Ha! Are we supposed to listen to the resident from a state with a $24 Billion problem? I didn't know the the river called Denial ran the length AND breadth of California. Robert, we do have a problem, a major problem. In the course of any successful treatment, the first step is to ADMIT IT!

How about the fact that we can prevent the country from falling apart?

LOL
I enjoy Beck, Ingram, and Savage, they usually are logical, albeit at times emotional regarding abortion.

I am prochoice, and realize we need health reform. I am tired of dentists and doctor's claiming I need $$$ worth of work, or pills that I neither need or want. For example, try having high blood pressure and an idiot m.d. trying to prescribe amphetamines to lose the 20lbs extra I carry around on my 5'3 1/2" frame.

That said, please send a few $'s to keep our first amendment rights, and prevent the government from eradicating opposing opinions.

We still have freedom of choice, speech and though, so let us keep it.

So, if I understand you correctly, obeying American law is irrelevant in today's world?

Obama has shown, by his duplicitous words and deeds, by his secretive dealings, by is hiding every record of his own past, by his callous disregard of the rule of law, that he is not to be trusted by anyone.

I will drop the qualifications demand on Obama when I feel he has been truthful and complete in his disclosure of his birth records and of his past.

But, you see, I don't believe Obama will ever, and I mean EVER, be open and honest, so the issue of his qualifications by birth to be eligible for the office of the president will not be settled unless or until he is outed by someone who is presently protecting him and who knows the truth.

Obama is a narcissist. He is not in office for you and for me - it's all about him and all for him. Obama will destroy the United States of America if left unchecked for the remainder of his illegitimate term as POTUS.

The more pressing issue of the day for me is to GET OBAMA OUT OF OFFICE as soon as possible.

There are none so blind as those who will not see - unless it's those who will not look.

And that seems to be someone just like you.

BTW, there is still freedom of speech in America, and until that is gone, I will continue to express my opinion, whether you like it or not.

Have a nice day.

Rush and Glenn

Can Rush and Glenn do anything to keep us from having another liberal RINO as our candidate for president in 2010? It seems we never have a consistent conservate like Dr. Tom Coburn. We need a slash and burn president that wouldn't fear overturning all of Obama's executive orders. He would have to have no future political ambitions. Sen. Coburn fills the bill.

Eddie Too:Obama is a U.S. citizen
This is an argument that needs to be dropped by conservatives because it's a moot point and it just makes conservatives look petty and silly. Obama is President and he will never be "un-President" by this argument. Children born abroad to American mothers are automatically American citizens. Obama's mother is a natural born citizen and therefore, Obama is a natural born citizen, regardless of where is he was born.
Please drop this argument and move on to the more pressing issues of the day, of which there are many!

Ask the leftists to prove

that obama is an American citizen. It always sets them off because they know they cannot prove it.

Since the leftists support an unproven position, it is easy to prove they inhabit the simpleton, non-thinking segment of society.

Tinfoil hats indeed. They make that accusation about conservatives and yet they are the ones who have put what little faith and reason they possess behind an unproven assertion.

An unproven assertion that, by the way, is one of the most damaging actions by the left this country has ever encountered.

The leftists are soooo funny when their foolishness is outed.

Answer for Lilly; question to Tyler
Lilly says: “I simply don't get this conservative demonization of government”
Answer: Let’s just put it this way: If we get a government run health care system we get to look forward to a machine that is as friendly as the IRS and efficient as the DMV (only this time they’ll be holding our lives in their hands … literally!) The majority of Americans do not want the power of government running their lives. The fact is with private enterprise and free market trade competition requires customer service to be friendly and efficient and the companies to be well organized if they are to survive and grow.

Tyler says: “Beck is a total loon who lies on his program and then gets called on it.”
Question: “Lies” always seems to be the last talking point of the left when they have nowhere else to go with their argument. I certainly understand not agreeing with someone and having differing points of view is what makes this country great, but can you give some examples of just some of the lies you’re referring to?

Glenn Beck
Glenn beck is refreshing and very passionate about what he believes. I agree with him almost all of the time. Finally we have someone who is not intimidated about getting out the truth. and standing for what most of us believe

We have needed a good investive reporter and commentator Thank you Glenn Beck

Lilly
You say "hate to break this to you but the government IS the people. We are them. They are us".

That is an incredibly simplistic POV. Liberals demonize corporations. Can we not also say "the corporations are the people. We are them. They are us."???

What separates us from them are LAWS. Laws that establish them and their powers. Our Founding Fathers despised government and feared the expansion of it. These founding principles worked very well for a long time. Socialism has NEVER worked.

Glenn Beck
By Golly, I know why Beck... along with Limbaugh, Hewett, Medved, etc., are enjoying huge success! The elitists on the Hill, and entrenched liberal media, disdain, dismiss, and ignore "the people"! It's reached critical mass! Ordinary people are LIVID! I honestly don't think the Administration, Congress, or media has any idea how deep and widespread the opposition is... or how fast it is growing. They ignore our voices at their peril!

Japan had to bomb Pearl Harbor, before we committed to WWII. Hello! Washington has "bombed" taxpayers with TARP I, TARP II, (son of TARP), Bloated Budget, Bailouts of Private Industry, appointment of czars to circumvent Constitutional checks and balances, the cap and trade scam, the nationalized healthcare scam, the firing of Inspector General Walpin to protect AMERICORE and ACORN from investigation! We were temporarily "shell shocked", but by God, they got our attention!!! We're awake, focused, and mobilizing! Enough political sluttery! Enough lying, misrepresentation, and fraud!

Incumbants in BOTH PARTIES from City Councils and State Houses, to Washington D.C. better be looking over their shoulders. THEY WORK FOR US, and we have a one-way ticket home.... inhand, and ready to present at the polls.

I'm grateful to Beck, and other conservative media for giving voice to the ignored! FLASH! We are NOT ignorant, stupid, rightwing rubes! We are working, productive, informed, citizens.... we were silent and complacent for too long, but no more!

Tyler is under the illusion that Beck
lied.

It has since been revealed that ABC DID reserve seats for Whoopee and Bawrbwra on the Amtrack and they did have police escorts for them. Those two so called "hosts" spent the whole first segment ragging on Beck about the whole scenario when in fact they did get special treatment (which is what he was tirading about) On the view, he simply wanted to actually get into the meat of an actual issue instead tirades about what did or didnt happen on the Amtrack.

Lilliputian & Tyler

Beck would be considered a revolutionary to George III and Woodrow Wilson.

Thomas Paine would be his compadre.

The FF would say, "Go, Beck, Go!"

He has never advocated violence.

The two of you would find yourselves at home in Stalin's USSR.

The two of you are not worthy of carrying his iPod.

Frankly, my dears, I don't give a F about either of you!

The reason why Beck is so popular

is because he is saying things the majority of Americans know, understand, and believe in. Beck is dead-on accurate in what he says.

Libs and progressives - take notice - your days are numbered. I wouldn't be able to say that if you had OUR best interests at heart, rather than your own.

Have a great day, America - we still have the best country on the face of God's green Earth, regardless of what the America hating Libs and Progressives think or say.

Time to Go Galt
What I think the AMA should encourage is a general nationwise strike or work slowdown on the part of doctors in America, to show people exactly what ObamaCare would ultimately look like.

How about MDs cut their patient loads by, say, 30%, or eliminate all elective surgeries for 6 months? And how about they refuse to treat any members of Congress for an indefinite period?

Of course, true emergencies would be excepted. But the MDs have power, they should USE it to stop this monstrosity.

Lilly
"Does anyone actually think that educated Republicans would vote for a Palin or take seriously a Beck?"

POST OF THE MONTH!

Too bad most people here are too dumb.

Beck
Is a total loon who lies on his program and then gets called on it.

What type of government, did you say.
OK I know it is nit picking to a few of you but the word Democracy in it real meaning (i.e. in the dictionary) has nothing to do with our form of government. If we lived in a "Democracy" we would have to spend our days watching a cross between C-span and American Idol, voting on all the minutia that makes our government a lean mean money wasting machine, but at least we would all have flat screen TVs and a matching keyboards, that is until the power fails because no one will actually work we will all be too busy voting ourselves entitlements.

We live in a representative republic, not (thank God) a democracy; also haven't you noticed that Freedom and Democracy do not mix?
Even Slate readers know (it was in Slate after all) that the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is not a nice place.

To Matt
re "Beck is a true American because he believes in the people and not the government."

Matt, I hate to break this to you but the government IS the people. We are them. They are us. "The government of the people, by the people, and for the people," as Lincoln said. We elect a Congress of our government representatives---they are our own folks, whom we send to Washington to represent our interests. We elect our President. The people who are employed by the government---the clerks who mail out your grandma's Social Security check, the guards at the Smithsonian, the scientists who do cancer research at the National Institutes of Health, the librarians at the Library of Congress, the folks who print dollar bills at the Bureau of Printing and Engraving---these are not criminals or monsters. They are folks with families. They do the best job they can. Many have a proud commitment to public service as strong as any soldier in the military.

I simply don't get this conservative demonization of government, this cartoon that says the Good Guys live in Montana and are People, while the Bad Guys live in Washington and are Government.

Shepherd Smith and The Big Purge
Meanwhile, I've been reading (not on townhall) that conservatives are furious with Shepherd Smith (who is much more moderate and centrist than other FOX anchors) for referring to the volume of venomous nutty emails that FOX gets and for speaking of Napolitano's warning that our social climate is now ripe for far-right shootings and attacks. It seems that some are calling for Smith to be fired, while others spread rumors that he is gay.

What all of this reminds me of is that every time an article appears on townhall that is halfway moderate (Kathleen Parker, George Will, Linda Chavez come to mind) posts immediately appear demanding that the writer be eliminated from townhall for not being sufficiently conservative: not following the party line. Then the next thing that pops into my mind is Cheney saying he would rather have the voice of the GOP be Rush Limbaugh than Colin Powell.

All of this is interesting to watch as history unfolds. What it looks like to an outsider is that the Republican Party is purging all moderate voices and espousing the most extremist. Up Beck, down Smith; up Coulter, down Parker; up Limbaugh, down Powell. I wonder if we may be headed for having a third party, possibly called The Conservative Party? Does anyone actually think that educated Republicans would vote for a Palin or take seriously a Beck?

Apocolypic Doomsayers
To all you apocolypic doomsayers, if Obama is as terrible for this country as you say, we can vote him out of office after four years.

America is not doomed! Our democracy works as well as it ever has. I was a boy when there really were riots in the streets and some people died there. Guess what? America made its way through it. We got better leadership and eventually solved the problems.

My beef with Beck is he doesn't believe in American democracy. He wants to see it fail so that his own sick dreams of apocolypse will come true.

So many posts here at TH have an undertone of dispair. Everyone seems sure that America will fail and face destruction. Why? You may dislike Obama. That OK. Elections happen every two years. Why do you not believe you can make things better over time?

It's a Sad Day in a America...
..when a guy passionate about the Constitution and the Founders is seen as dangerous.

vampire's reflection
after your retort about Beck, I'd say you have the perfect screen name for your hero, O-man. He sucks all the life blood out of the greatest country in the world and when it comes time to take the blame for destroying our economy, He will, indeed have a vampire's reflection...NONE AT ALL! He'll be INVISIBLE!

Beck Dangerous?
About as dangerous as the Founding Fathers were. Of course, he's only dangerous if you don't believe in the Constitution or Founding Principles.

He's only dangerous if you're a Proud Progressive. Or a noodle-spined RINO.

Barack Obama and his henchmen are the true danger. That's Beck's message--and he's right. Be afraid...very afraid. But not of Beck.

Robert
If you do consider the Democrat party stable I'd point at the state you put as your location.

It has been run by a majority of Democrats for many years. Even the few Republicans in office are more like Democrat Lite, and where is that state now?

It is on the verge of financial disaster due to their "stable" policies.

And before you say it, I am a 13 year survivor of California, SoCal, From Burbank to Long Beach to Santa Clarita before I escaped that chaos.

Robert
"This cannot be healthy for a society to have a charismatic but unstable individual with a giant megaphone shouting, "America is falling apart." What positive thing can come of it?"

So it is OK if the entire Democrat party and most of the Main Stream Media do it for almost a decade? Why? because you consider them stable?

Dangerous Guy
I consider Mr. Beck a very dangerous guy. He is completely invested in the end of America and the end of the world as we know it. This cannot be healthy for a society to have a charismatic but unstable individual with a giant megaphone shouting, "America is falling apart."

What positive thing can come of it?

Vampire's Reflection
Dismissal by labeling and associating is a tactic best left to the experts, like NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, et al.

I watch Glen Beck, but I don't watch O'Riley, Hannity, or Gretta. Beck's show is one of the few I watch on Fox News, except maybe Fox News Sunday once a week.

Want to know why I watch him?

Because he comments and covers stories in the news with out a party spin. The others say they do as well, but they still have a slight lean one way or another.

And guess what.....I watched him when he was on CNN!

It isn't the channel or the bias that draw my viewership, as I also watch Stossel on 20/20. It is the neutral coverage, sometimes in Beck's case with a humorous twist, which in the end only seeks the truth.

If either party are hurt but the truth, oh well, sucks to be them.

The "parties" are not really all that different anymore. It's like drinking Coke or Diet Coke. They taste almost the same, but one claims to be better for you because it is Diet.

Vampire's Reflection

Read all of my posts. You are in for a world of hurt. Even bloodsucking will not save you.

Additionally, Robert Gibbs basically said that your state is on it own ... No bailout for you or your blood banks.

re: Matt
"BECK
is a true American who truely cares about the direction this country is going. He believes in the American people, not the Government. This is examplified by the fact that he attacks both Repubs and Dems alike."

Ahh, yes, ye old "Fair and Balanced" canard.

So, as many people claim, Beck represents working America and not any particular party then the obvious conclusion must be that those who are watching him must be True Americans, as Hannity likes to phrase it.

yuk yuk.

Let us take a survey of Beck's audience. Let us find out if they are an equal mix of political parties, or perhaps mostly conservatives, or even more perhaps, mostly an audience that is just right of Attila the Hun.

I always find it amusing that conservatives have co-opted the words "American", "Patriot" and "Christian" for themselves.

Yet conservatives wonder why liberals think Fox News is conservative? I mean after all, Fox News is Patriotic, Christian Americans? Nothing conservative about that!

LOL.

Yes, let us do a poll and find out WHO is watching Glen Beck, shall we?

My guess is they are the same fair and balanced crowd who watches every other Fox News program.

Glen Beck! The All American! He'd better watch out though, Hannity might be gettingjealous of Beck usurping his title.

Wooo hooo!

I converted all of my "wealth" to precious metals, after paying taxes on it, over a year ago.

It has been moved overseas and is NOT in financial institutions.

Buy gold, not paper gold.
Move to repeal the 16th Amendment.
Do away with the Federal Reserve.
Do not buy union, if you can help it.
And, Go Galt!

St Denise
I have a great exit strategy that involves the elimination or near elimination of taxes if the goal of the client is wealth transfer. Can be done with part of the proceeds also.

Will "Pay-Go" Really Pay?
With his first two federal budgets projecting the largest deficits in U.S. history, each above a trillion dollars, Mr. Obama wants to be seen speaking the gospel of fiscal discipline and distancing himself from the free-spending ways of Congress, of which he was a member for four years.

With his first two federal budgets projecting the largest deficits in U.S. history, each above a trillion dollars, Mr. Obama wants to be seen speaking the gospel of fiscal discipline and distancing himself from the free-spending ways of Congress, of which he was a member for four years.

“Paying for what you spend is basic common sense. Perhaps that's why, here in Washington, it's been so elusive,” he needled an audience in the East Room this afternoon that included some House members.

But briefing reporters, White House Budget Director Peter Orszag conceded some of PAYGO’s limitations. It doesn’t cover discretionary spending.

“PAYGO only applies to the mandatory side of the budget and to revenue,” said Orszag. That means entitlement programs such as Medicare and revenue programs like taxes. It’ll cover the compulsory health care plan the president wants Congress to pass – but over five or 10 years. In a single year, the plan may exceed PAYGO limits.

It will not covered the "public option" of Obama Care.

In addition, about 40 percent of the federal budget, programs for education, energy, the military, etc., would not be covered by PAYGO, said Orszag. A different set of Senate and House rules apply to those programs, he said.

So what exactly does Beck's Mormonism "explain" to you? Better yet, what does it have to do with his stance for freedom and against both political parties when they try to deny freedom to us?

I'd really like to see an answer from you...

BECK
is a true American who truely cares about the direction this country is going. He believes in the American people, not the Government. This is examplified by the fact that he attacks both Repubs and Dems alike.

What best sums up Beck's show
At some point during his program during commercials airs a commercial for the 'emergency radio' as if disaster was about to happen. I know all you Beck fans have seen it, if not during Beck's program at least on Fox!

I don't have a problem with the guy, he's like a WWF character. An entertainer like Jabba the Limbaugh. After all, Glenn Beck really isn't his real name. His job is scare the bejesus out of conservatives or anyone near the fringe of the right.

He's pretty good at it.

I didn't know Beck was a Mormon?
always thought he was a jehova's witness. That explains a lot of things.

Now that was the response I was seeking. I believe it was Mark Levin I heard a few weeks back lecturing on the general welfare clause. He too mentioned that this was in the preamble and meant that it didn't really carry any weight. Combine that with what our Founding Fathers said, and you have something that has really been bastardized. Yet the liberals can't interpret the plain language of the 2nd ammendment-I'm not a gun owner.

Cookie
The "general welfare" clause is in the preamble and simply provides the reason for the body of text that follows: The Constitution.

It is astounding that people refer to the President, Congress, and other elected officials as "Leaders". They are nothing more than an agent (representative) of the PEOPLE who elect them. In other words, they work for us, not lead us.

God is my leader and I am free to vote for (or against) who I prefer to represent me as my President, etc.

Many, perhaps most, of the ones sent to Washington, or the various State Capitols, to do the governmental work of the people seem to forget this fact.

They need to be reminded of this every term, that they are hired by the whim of the voters and can be fired by them also.

St Denise
Very well said by you and Polly just before your reply. To me, logic would dictate that there be no need for a Constitution if the government could do anything it wanted under the General Welfare Clause.

But you and Polly are both right. Neither party, especially democrats feel the need to follow the Constitution. I had a discussion with a wild-eyed liberal friend a few years back. I said government does way to many things that it is not Constitutionally allowed to. He asked for an example. I told him that nowhere in the Constitution is the federal government allowed to spend on education. Hesaid, "I disagree." I said this is not something that can be agreed or disagreed with, it's not in there. You cannot argue with someone who wants what he wants, and no rules need be applied in those situations.

What type of law are you actually practicing?

Steve
Your dribble is uninteresting, your talking points are lies. You are obviously of a lower intelligence level than the norm. Why not go over to Huffy Puffy Post where you will be met with open arms. Cheers

GLENN BECK ROCKS!
My favorite afternoon show on FNC! Glenn Beck is honest, sincere and is not afraid to ruffle the feathers of those in power. He is the ONLY person in the media who is not afraid to bring about an investigation on corrupt groups like ACORN, the SEIU, and this administration! Keep up the good work, Glenn Beck. We love you!

Thank you. I am a practicing one, but now have a second career dealing with the moonbats.

"Don't have the time to find it but there was another liberal genius yesterday pontificating that the Genral Welfare Clause of the Constitution gives the government the green light to do or spend whatever it wants to. Your take?"

The General Welfare Clause was designed by the Founders to be very limited and the intention was if government acts, it must act on behalf of all. No cherrypicking or special interests. It was FDR that rushed through the court system the notion that the GWC should be expanded to almost catchall status and permitted the pervision of the interpretation of the GWC so that it could be for just about anything and could be used to benefit a special class to the determint of the remaining classes.

It is my opinion that such an interpretation violates the intent of the FF and the caselaw prior to FDR's Administration.

I hope that this helps and I welcome your reply.

Cookie
How about Thomas Sowell's take:

In a letter to Edmund Pendleton, James Madison, the father of the Constitution, said, "If Congress can do whatever in their discretion can be done by money, and will promote the General Welfare, the Government is no longer a limited one, possessing enumerated powers, but an indefinite one ..." Madison also said, "With respect to the two words "general welfare," I have always regarded them as qualified by the detail of powers connected with them. To take them in a literal and unlimited sense would be a metamorphosis of the Constitution into a character which there is a host of proofs was not contemplated by its creators." Thomas Jefferson said, "Congress has not unlimited powers to provide for the general welfare, but only those specifically enumerated." --Walter Williams, Townhall.com column, Good Ideas, March 11, 2009

You would know that the liberals would grab onto one thing in the Constitution, and ONLY one thing: Promote the General Welfare. Forget any limitations the founding fathers intended to place on the federal government. What did those rich slaveholders know, anyway?

The only question left is why do today's politicians even acknowledge the existence of a constitution that was intended to guide this country? It's not like they pay ANY attention to its enumerated powers. Or do they ever acknowledge its existence anymore?

All that's left is "power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely." Live it, love it. --Democrats & Republicans, Daily.

GREAT POSTS!

While I don't
agree with Beck on every single thing, Stossel either, i do value their opinions. Like Reagan said, if you 80% of the time, that's good enough.

I am of that 80%.

If you agree with someone's thinking 100% of the time, you are not thinking!

I always like Beck

Laura61 & Gay Conservative
Very well said by both of you (41&42). It appears that the dumba*s socialist hippie, Steve, finally left. I am also waiting for guys like Steve, his Hollywood friends, and class warfare a-holes like Bill Clinton to put up or shut up.

Clinton says we don't pay enough taxes, but no one is stopping the guy who deducted his used underwear and gave nearly nothing to charity from sending in more. Same for you. Ted Kennedy. Good old Teddy railing against repeal of the estate tax yet his family using every legal loophole to pay only $151,000 in estate taxes over the years from their illegal booze running business.

I am waiting for the Madonnas and John Kerrys of the world to give up their multiple houses and all that evil income. One house worth a million dollars is more than most have. Do Hollywood stars really deserve $10,000,000 per movie when people are starving? Should Madoona make more than $100,000 profit on a CD or a tour?

The left is great at spending and giving away the money of others but the rules they want never apply to themselves.

Why Beck is popular.

Beck is popular because he shares middle american values.

Liberals are outraged.

I watched 20/20 for the Glenn Beck segment. I was disappointed that more time wasn't allotted since he and ABC spent a large amount of time interviewing Glenn and others as well as recording his comedy show. To me, too much was left out and resulted in the segment seeming like a somewhat hastily put-together report. It definitely needed more time in order to make a better presentation of the material you gathered. Still, I appreciate John's effort to enlighten viewers with accurate journalism.

Where Is PETA? PETA is off in Seattle protesting the way the fishermen throw around dead fish (no, not Rahm Emanuel). They say that it is disrepectful to the dead. I kid you NOT.

Calling Planned Parenthood and Dr. Tiller's sucessor!

Since the fly was possibly pregnant, would not have Obama wanted to use tax dollars to send it to Planned Parenthood for verification?

If it had been pregnant, would he not have given it the "freedom of choice" to visit Dr. Tiller's successor.

Of course, if the baby flies had been born alive due to a flawed fly fetus abortion, the BAFPA (Born Alive Fly Protection Act) would not have applied. No, Obama would have insured that the Mother Lode had the right to let the baby flies die, cold and alone, inside of an utility closet.

For those not in the know, Rush killed a fly on television in 1995. Why do you not know this? The state-run media did not run endless, breathless loops of the fly murder.

Mainstream media hates Glenn
The media can't use anything against him because he has already confessed his sins,hang-ups,and flaws.And it drives them nuts.He is also absolutely right.

It's fair to knock quite a few college educated people since they go for things that don't have any value or meaning to society. How many Communications, [Insert Minotirty Group Here] Studies and even law majors do we produce? Yes, I said law, 90% of them are useless and exist only because other people with law degrees got in office and purposely made an obscure language, legalese, the official language of the US legal system. Lawyers simply beget more lawyers and if we wrote our laws in plain English and got rid of all the ridiculous laws and regulations in our society, we'd put 90% of the lawyers out of business and make the remainder dirt cheap from the sheer competition. Maybe that's why most of what goes on stays going on because no politician wants to put their brothers out of a job.

Beck is on the money & Steve is a loser
For over two years, I posted quite a bit on this site as I ran my campaign for President. I stated over and over that the two parties have become totally corrupted by power and had abandoned the rule of law, the will of the people, and the Constitution. I called out for common sense and for folks to reject the two parties and vote for Independent candidates dedicated to restoring Constitutional self government.

Alas, too many wanted to trust the GOP and once again voted the lesser of two evils. The end result was more evil. Einstein's proclamation was proved again.

So the question becomes, what will we do in 2010? Vote again for the lesser of two evils and trust the GOP to deliver us? Wake up folks!

The best answer I can give is for those of you who care, do the radical thing. Set up a campaign committee, enlist friends and relatives to help out, and RUN FOR OFFICE!

You can do it, and a local race is very winnable. I knew my Presidential Campaign would never win, but my goal was to alert us to the dangers of the two party system. We must end that and reclaim our inheritance by ourselves. There is no other way!

Thanks, Joe

I don't knock college education, but I acknowledge we often end up with educated nuts. It also doesn't guarantee they are good people. We seem to have one on site today.

Every day more people are beginning to believe they too, can make a difference.
Thanks to guys like Beck, And Stossel for beinging him into the light. Its becomming acceptable to think outside the box.

I am NOT left or right. I am simply a constitutional patriot.

And THATS scaring the p**p out of many. Enough to know that when their trying to tear someone down, Its time to pay attention.

Glenn Beck.
He is the right-est of them all. Freedom transcends party. But both parties are killing our freedom. Get government out of... In one instance, individual entrepreneurs are getting into the automobile business. They roll everything they have on their decision. The big companies shuffle "portfolios" and build "brands" not cars. And what a laugh having Amtrak and the U. S. Postal Service take over GM, Citicorp, healthcare (oh, Medicare already did that with 150,000 pages of regs and counting)and energy. Glenn Beck is heard and others need to support his words. Freedom is what the United States of America revolted for, why are we giving it up? Go Glenn!

http://www.periodictablet.com

Back in 2000...
...when I first heard Glenn Beck on WFLA, I dismissed him as ill-informed and too frenetic and unfunny. He is not a particularly bright fellow.

After listening to several of his first few shows, I changed channels. Since then I have succeeded in ignoring Beck on both radio and television.

Recently my ninety year old father-in-law asked me what I thought of Beck. I explained my view as above. However, because of my respect for my father-in-law, I decided to give Beck another listen. If Norm and his wife found something of value in Beck's recent commentary maybe I would too.

In sum, Beck has made genuine intellectual progress in the past seven years. He has disabused himself of some of his self-imposed ignorance. I hope he continues his quest for enlightenment. Those of us who actually believe in America, need a chorus of strong voices to deflect the tyranny that is coming our way. Beck may yet prove to be a valuable ally in the fight for freedom.

A Refreshing Spin on Cable TV
Thanks for the info. Did not know about Mr. Beck's earlier problems but would like to say that they probably have a lot to do with the great person he has turned out to be. When a person takes up the challenge and overcomes difficulty, he usually turns out the better for the experience. Exactly opposite of the whiners who want the government to take care of them. Refreshing indeed.

"You cannot spend your way out of a recession or borrow your way out of debt. And when you repeat, in that wooden and perfunctory way, that our situation is better than others, that we are well placed to weather the storm, I have to tell you, you sound like a Brezhnev era apparatchik giving the party line. You know and we know and you know that we know that it's nonsense. Everyone knows that we are possibly worse off than at any other moment in our history as we go into these hard times. The world has said so. Our people have said so. The Chinese have said so as we monetize our money or, as Mr. Geithner would say, we use quantitative easing, which all others except you recognize to be monetization. The Germans, the French, the Russians, and Pravda have all but said so. The value of our dollar says so, which is why it is falling like a rock. In a 18 months, the voters will have their chance to say so, too. They can see what the fundamentals say and what those not drinking the Kool-Aid have seen all along: that you are the devalued Leader of a devalued Government."

Are you happy now?

WE NEED MORE GLENN BECKS IN AMERICA

This country needs more people like Glenn Beck who stands up and tells it like it is. I attended the Glenn Beck's Common Sense show in Houston. It was a packed crowd and they gave Beck three standing ovations.

Where are the other large voices, among elected Republicans or Democrats who stand up and declare the abuse of our constitution, the enormous debt put on the back of Americans, the higher taxes to come and the hyper-inflation we will all face? There are a few, but not enough to stop the government abuses.

My greatest sorrow is that those on the extreme fringes of both parties are prepared to surrender their liberties. The Right does not question its leaders and neither does the Left. The Left is ready to cede this country's sovereignty and adopt the failed economic, social and governmental policies that have failed the world over.

The silly ones engage in willful blindness. They believe the words, but fail to look at the actions of politicians.

The HopenChange crowd follow Obama like those that gleefully followed Lenin, Stalin, Mussolini, Hitler, Mao, Krushchev, Che, Castro, Pol Pot, the Ayatollahs, Ortega, Noreiga, Saddam, Osama bin Laden, Chavez and a whole slew of tyrants. Like the followers of the above, they will follow Obama to the Gates of Hell.

In fact, Steve reminds me of one of those Stalin had arrested, held without trial, thrown later into the Gulag where they were tortured, starved, denied medical care, and mentally abused. What happened when Stalin died? Many of these same men in the Gulag CRIED.

Drunk on Jim Jones cult Kool-Aide while suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.

Hallelujah!
Here's a cheer for Glenn Beck. Anyone who can get under the skin of the politicians of both sides gets my vote. He must be doing and saying eomething right.
Pardon me! Janet Napolitano, but I'm a right wing extremist who loves this great country with a passion. God Bless America after God gets through with it.

I'm beginning to believe ...
that the Steve's and Dave's on these threads are paid by the writers themselves. I mean, really, can anyone truthfully say that they beleive ANY of that stuff. They'er just here to stoke the fire.

BTW, St. Denis, I truly admire the patience you showed with Steve. Always above the fray with just the facts. A wonderful lesson for all of us. Thanks!

Yeah the 2020 piece was a bit awkward as well. Didnt really do Beck justice IMHO. After watching his common sense gig, the Stossell piece was a bit of a letdown.

Signed,

Fellow Sick Twisted Freak.

Yes, it's true!
I happily call myself one of Glenn Beck's Sick, Twisted, Freaks!

I also agree that the piece was too short, but I would add awkwardly edited, no doubt by John's liberat colleagues!

Steve is one of the reasons
I want to leave the Peoples Republic of California. His arguments reflect the programming prevalent in the educational system in the country, especially here in California. Too many of the leaders of this God-forsaken state believe as he does.

Education without logic or reason.

Ah....governmental oversight....
Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You are?
by THEODORE GEISSEL
(Dr. Suess) 1973

Oh, the jobs people work at!
Out west, near Hawtch-Hawtch,
there’s a Hawtch-Hawtcher Bee-Watcher.
His job is to watch…
to keep both his eyes on the lazy town bee.
A bee that is watched will work harder, you see.

Well…he watched and he watched.
But, in spite of his watch,
that bee didn’t work any harder. Not mawtch.
But then somebody said,
Our old bee-watching man
just isn’t bee-watching as hard as he can.
He ought to be watched by another Hawtch-Hawtcher.
The thing that we need
is a Bee-Watcher-Watcher.”

WELL…
The Bee-Watcher Watcher watched the Bee-Watcher.
He didn’t watch well.

So another Hawtch-Hawtcher
had to come in as a Watch-Watcher-Watcher.

And today all the Hawtchers who live in Hawtch-Hawtch are watching on Watch-Watcher-Watchering-Watch,Watch-Watching the Watcher who’s watching that bee.

You’re not a Hawtch-Hawtcher. You’re lucky you see.

HMMM "numbers do not LIE

FACT:

BECK has more constant viewers than Oberman and Chris matthews combined.

this is a free country and everyone has an on and off button on their radio and TV. NO ONE FORCES anyone to watch Beck or to Listen to Beck.

Same goes for RUSH who has a constant radio audience of over 20 million, all by choice!

OBVIOUS: folks are voting with their on and off buttons on TV and Radio: THAT Is the ONLY thing they are still allowed to decide for themselves.

Talk radio is and has been winning in the "MEDIA' race.

The Dance Of The Death Knell Spiral

Smiley Face Fascism and Sugar Candy Socialism have been engaged in the Dance of the Death Knell Spiral for a century. Neither is viable nor are they different in essence. One side claims that both are Left and the Left claims that fascism is Right. This goes back to Stalin and Hitler making their own decision as to who would be considered Left and who would be considered Right.

Make no mistake, both will always fail and capitalism will always succeed even if only within the black market.

Thanks, I agree of course. I was not clearly stating my case that I am referring to the whole of the economy, not just the banks.

Capitalists have to be free to take risks. Once the apparent success of a risk venture takes hold, other investors follow. In the long term - the risk may fail & take enough damage to temporarily contract the economy (this becomes inflated by govt intrusion in the marketplace). Gov't allows the risk to be falsely minimized through insurances and legislation, but the risk is true and pain will come from bad risk.

That's more what I meant.

Thank you so much for your caveat and insight. Always welcome.

Further
Law don't matter anymore. They are non-binding.

The U.S. Constitution has no standing against our govt.

Making more laws is not the answer. We have so many laws we are already having to pick & choose which ones to enforce. If only bribery were one that was enforced. Then we would not allow political donations by corporations, lobbies, institutions, organizations. Only private U.S. citizens.
Also, no more tit for tat bribery attached to every bill. One bill for one thing, and one thing only.

Having more oversight is not the answer. There will never be the perfect collection of overseers who can adapt to all crises, foresee all looming disasters, and implement oversight fairly and equally.

Its always been a fool's errand to try & force the economy to always be charging ahead. Corporations vote & pander to democrats because democrats eliminate their competition. Ever increasing regulatory burdens the smaller players cannot afford to comply with.

The mafia has a thousand times the integrity of our public servants.

Fuzzy
One caveat, the business cycle is not natural, it's a byproduct of the fractional reserve banking system. Fractional reserve banking creates assets out of nothing and when creditors come calling, not all of it exists. This causes a crash when unbacked debt folds on itself. Much of the so-called business cycle would vanish if we didn't allow loans to be provided when an equivelently long deposit didn't exist. Meaning, if you take out a 30 year loan, it should be becuase someone else took out a 30 year bond in exchange for it.

How it works now is banks are able to loan out up to 70% of the money deposited in demand accounts. If you deposit $1,000, the bank can make loans up to $3,333. The $700 loaned from your deposits are deposited back in the bank in a demand account, from that $490 is then loaned back out. You can guess how this whole thing collapses. When people come asking for their money, the bank only has $1,000 with $2,333 as a made up asset number that doesn't really exist.

A central bank perpetuates this by delaying the collapse by adding another layer of phantom, unbacked loans. We could fix the boom-bust cycle by dismantling the Fed and disallowing banks to make loans on demand deposits, ie full reserve banking.

Steve finally went to bed
Since Steve was up all night slinging left wing arrows, he must have finally gone to bed or to his government job.I have often wondered how ANYBODY in their right minds could possibly
vote for the remarkably wrinkle-free Nancy
Pelosi, but after reading Steve's ridiculous
comments , my question has been answered.
Is there anything that Obama could do that would
upset a lefty like Steve ? Bye the bye; I love both Back and Stoessel(not that there's anything wrong with that)

Denise
Keep up the thoughtful and precise writing. You seem to throw a fast ball right down the middle and the libs do the inevitable, swing and a miss. I love when the lib flame throwers get extinguished. Facts are always better than fiction!

Getting Information
These days it is extremely difficult just to get the information one needs to make a judgement on what is happening in this country.
With the exception of the Fox News Network and The Wall Street Journal, the media is so "in bed" with the Obama Administration, imformation is distorted or under reported, if reported at all. A case in point, the recent firing of the IG inspector. I hope programs like Glen Beck's gain in popularity. Is it any wonder that President Obama doesn't like Fox News? I guess if Fox would go to the White House to do their news program and then do a show in support of Obama's plan to change health care in this country, they wouldn't seem so "out of step"!

Denise
I pray for secession often because I've passed the tipping point and really don't care if a nuke hits DC anymore.

I say a complete idiot this morning on tv saying the Fed should be watching over the financial system and make sure U.S banks are behaving. He thinks gov't oversight can eliminate the natural cycle of boom & bust and determine which institutions are too big to fail.

We have reached the saturation point where each time the opposing party takes power, they will have to do nothing but undo everything from the previous administration as fast as they can. If you think congress can't take the time to read bills now, wait until they have to be passed by the dozens in the middle of the night.

You are wise to have no allegiance to tyrants, even those who rule over this great country.

Would Steve be suprised to know that
Daniel and John beat his prediction of a one world government by thousands of years? If the fear of the Lord is the beginning of all wisdom, I am not suprised that Steve shows none. Steve may not think God exists, but unfortunately (for Steve) He thinks he does exist. The scary part is that He also thinks He is going to judge everyone in this world. I hope Steve is not disappointed in his destination.

Why the liberals hate Beck:
He's smarter than they are and they all know it.

Nuff said.

Why do you guys
bother to argue with Steve, Zap, Hal D, etc.? They are smug self-righteous wanna-bes. The world is buning all around them, their idol is turning into a dictator before our eyes, but they're too busy staing at a Jackson Pollack.

Not Any More
I used to have some respect for John Stossil.

love the guy
I love Beck....just one more guy that Obama can obsess over. Beck IS the real deal.

John

Like Beck, you’re a rare breed. And that’s unfortunate.

The numerical count of your supporters is directly proportional to the amount of common sense remaining in this country.

Keep writing and reporting.

Steve
Just roll over put your shorts on backwards with a quarter in your hand and the govt. will put sand in the vasoline.

You'll love it dummy!

St. Denis In OBRA and Steve
Give it up Steve, St. Denis is talking facts, you are running on a very narrow path of emotion. I have traveled the world and guess what? It is not what you read in the travel brochures and the drivel you get in college. I love Glenn Beck because he exposes folks like you Steve, and you literally have nothing but reliance on government for your happiness and comfort supported by a string of one liners.

Thanks John
Thanks for a great show on Glen Beck. Just wish the segment could have been longer. You can always be counted on for keeping journalistic integrity and your piece on Beck was very much appreciated.

Abrogation
It strikes me as more than a little masochistic, this slavish dependence upon goober-mint by the leftist's of the world. After all, goober-mint creates absolutely nothing and cannot exist without it's imposition and denial of freedoms over those it would govern. Goober-mint is nothing more than a plague of locusts, devouring everything in its insatiable and unrestrained march toward total domination over every aspect and idea of freedom. And yet, most willingly give freedom away to a percieved benificent authority in hopes of bettering our station. We abrogate the very posession of our soul when we submit to goober-mental absolutism. How pathetic!

Witness to a Whipping
We have all just witnessed Steve from CA being toasted by Denise.

Obama mimics the failed CEOs
Wall Street and the failed investment banks, and the difficulties of the auto companies and insurance companies and the mortgage entities such as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac all failed by being too far in debt that getting out was impossible. Now, to save all of the failures, he is putting all of America in debt which will also cause the failure of America. Now that is the change you better believe in, because its true. Now you know. All the riicicule foisted upon George Bush will pale in comparison to the ridicule that will be foisted upon Obama. Watch and see!

Me too, I love the guy
Beck is amazing. Absolutely a gift to this country. Stay well, Glenn! God Bless.

St. Denis
Don't bother, steve's on Obama's payroll (probably welfare).

Steve
Since you believe in helping the poor so much, perhaps you ought to give much of your money to those deprived individuals. Therefore, you can lead an austere life that would not make you a hypocrite. But if you have a wealthy paycheck and don't give most of your dough to those "raped by the system", you are like most of the lefties in this country.

Forget steve
He is too far gone. Want to know how Mao marched millions of people into matching uniforms and to their death? How a bunch of ignoramuses destroyed the Cambodian economy and slaughtered 2 million of their own people by forcing most of them into concentration camps? How Kim Jong Il maintains labor camps where hundreds of thousands have died, and holds a death grip on the rest of the country, where 2 million have starved? How Castro took one of the most prosperous little Caribbean islands and turned it into a ghetto? How the Soviet Union imprisoned and killed millions of the people it controlled?

Because of people like steve, who believe everything they are told about how "government will save you." Who know little history, and what they do know, they doubt or distinguish ("Oh, golly gee, that can't happen here. OUR communists are just such good guys.")

Ignorance is the gunpowder in the weapons of oppression.

Oh, and Jesus was not a socialist. "The poor ye shall always have with you." And "My kingdom is not of this world." Not the words of someone who was preaching utopia on earth.

Steve
It's nice that Steve has no clue about Beck. The man is a libertarian, not a Republican. Perhaps if you would read the article, you could learn something about a great philosophy. And Beck rarely talks about religion on his show. Frankly, if he did, I wouldn't listen since I'm an agnostic.

Inevitable?
According to Steve-I-don't-have-a-valid-argument-so-I-launch-personal-attacks-and-spout-my-masters-talking-points it is inevitable that America will loose it's soul and become another servant to the NWO. And he is looking forward to it. Isn't that nice? I hate to burst I-love-socialism-Steve's little bubble but his misunderstanding of the second amendment is going to come back to bite him in the a$$. While it looks unlikely now, I believe freedom loving Americans will eventually say enough is enough with this experiment in central planning and control (ala the former USSR) and take back this country...one way or another.

$62,500 Per Individual
Yesterday, the CBO estimated that the current Democratic Senate health care bill would increase the defict by $1 trillion over 10 years while leaving 30 million uninsured, forcing the White House to distance itself from the legislation. While liberals have tried to emphasize that the CBO provided only a partial analysis of the draft legislation from Ted Kennedy's Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, a more comprehensive analysis of the legislation will only serve to drive the bill's ultimate cost higher. For instance, because it was only working with a draft of the bill that had holes in it, the CBO did not estimate the costs associated with increasing Medicaid elgibility to 150 percent of the poverty level, or the full cost of providing subsidies to individuals with incomes at up to 500 percent of the poverty level to purchase insurance through state-run exchanges. Once this is taken into account, liberals are right that the final CBO estimate will reflect more people being insured, but the cost of the legislation will go up as well.

Health Systems Innovations Network, a consulting group, went ahead and estimated the full cost of a bill that included the subsidies and Medicaid expansion, and reduced the number of uninsured by 99 percent. With these assumptions, they estimated the cost at a staggering $4 trillion over 10 years, resulting in the shift of 79 million Americans to government-run health care. The report does not include possible tax increases or spending offsets, but notes that, "this would be a challenging proposal to finance with budget neutrality."

The price tag for each individual covered is $62,500 per year.

Revolutionary War

Sorry for the spelling.

Stunned

It never ceases to amaze me that some Americans are dying to cede this country's sovereignty and desperately want to adopt the failed economic, monetary policies, and governments of KNOWN LOSERS.

They are going to wind up with Weimar or Mugabe's Zimbabwe economic catastrophes with hyperinflation within a depression. If they are lucky, they will get a Lost Decade a la Japan, another Great Depression, or the decades of failed Argentinian borrowing and borrowing.

Hell, why did our Founders even fight the Reolutionary War. At least with the George II and later the Windsors, you know what you are going to get. Now, these fools believe that Obama is a King, a Tsar, a Messiah, a Savior, and a God all rolled into one.

News Flash: Steve and Zippy are the pigs
Never try to teach a pig to sing. It only wastes your time, and it annoys the pig.

Actually, we had Torries back in the Revolutionary War, that had similar traits as Steve. Who prevailed in that one? How did the one world order guys do in that one, Steve?

What A Moron!
"This is just too good....where ya gonna go?"

Don't you worry. I have many places to go that will not be part of a NWO.

"The ONLY countries that will allow someone with money to hide out with their bank roll are a few of the Muslim states like Dubai."

Honey, I paid my taxes on my wealth here, cashed out of financial institutions, converted cash to gold, and moved it OVER A YEAR AGO BEFORE 09.15.08. I went Galt then. I am SOOOOO far ahead of you.

"What could be more ironic than right wing idealogues running off to the Mid East to escape suitably progressive tax rates?"

It will not be in the ME. Not even close.

"Priceless!"

Yes, it is PRICELESS for losers like you, who can never afford it.

And, Who Is Blocking It..
Howie Klein has a rundown of all the money that the people who are blocking real reform in health care have received from the health care industry.

Arlen Specter (R-D- PA- $4,026,933)
Max Baucus (DLC- MT- $2,833,731)
Mitch McConnell (R-KY- $2,758,468)

"And when you just go right to Big Insurance, the non-presidential candidates who got the biggest legalized bribes were the 7 senators who have been tasked with the job of killing single-payer":

Ben Nelson (DLC-NE- $1,196,799)
Max Baucus (DLC- MT- $1,184,113)
Joe Lieberman (DLC- CT- $1,036,302)
Arlen Specter (R-D- PA- $1,035,530)
Chuck Schumer (D-NY- $981,400)
Mitch McConnell (R-KY- $929,207)
Chuck Grassley (R-IA- $884,724)

Plus, the Senator from MBNA, Chris Dodd, who is against a single-payer system and taxing health care benefits.

Obama does not have the votes in the Senate and he will be unable to achieve a single-payer system with only House Liberals.

Steve.
It seems those societies and governments you like the best are virtually all white folk. Not that there's anything...and so on.

The Real Agenda...
Last Thursday at a town hall meeting in Rio Rancho New Mexico President Barack Obama was asked why, when “so many people go bankrupt using their credit cards to pay for healthcare. Why have they taken single-payer off the plate (audience applause), and why is Senator Baucus on the Finance Committee discussing health care when he has received so much money from the pharmaceutical companies? Isn’t it a conflict of interest?” (more audience applause)

“Healthcare is one-sixth of our economy, so it is a complicated and difficult task. Congress is going to have to work hard, and everybody is going to have to come at this with a practical perspective as opposed to being ideologically pure in getting it done… Why not do a single-payer system? … A single-payer system is like, Medicare is sort of a single-payer system, but it’s only for people over 65, and the way it works is, uh, the idea is you don’t have insurance companies as middle men. " - Barack Obama

Question: More than 80 House Democrats are supporting a single payer, Canadian-style, Medicare for all healthcare system. It's HR 676. Why don't you support it?
Pelosi: "I've always supported single payer."

Health insurance companies will be eliminated, people will not have a choice, bureacrats will run the system, rationing will be necessary to pay the tab, and our healthcare will be ruined.

News Flash, steve

News Flash: I have enough money to leave. Do you?

"and all believe that basic food"

Yes, if they can afford it. They might get lucky and have enough money to pay for the equivalent of an $8 tiny Coke a few times a year.

"shelter"

Barely, to say the least. Just ask the people on the dole in Britain or the poor, elderly and immigrants in France.

"are more important rights than your misreading of the 2nd ammendment."

HA! You will NOT even have a 1st Amendment right in the Europe. Criticize a protesting Muslim in England and you go to jail. Criticize the Muslims' treatment of animals and you will be put on trial in France, convicted and fined... Just ask Brigitte Bardot.

Hell, the High Court in Britain ruled recently that bloggers do not have a right to anonymity

steve - II
"But in NO countries have they decided to implement 'free market' ideology."

We have not had a free market in the US since, at least, 1913 when the Federal Reserve was created. Further, the Securities Act of 1933 began the imposition of numerous rules and regulations, which grow in size every year. I know. I spend over $10K a year on SEC books for my law library.

"All Western European countries put social services above profit"

Which is why they have dismal economies. Look at Britain. It has depleted its Treasury, lost its AAA credit rating, and is now printing money and monetizing its debt. This economics and finance double major and holder of a Master's degree in econ. will tell you that this is BAD news.

"all take care of the less fortunate"

Really? If you lose you job in Germany, you will receive one year's pay. After that, you are own your own. In Spain, unemployment is ~20%, which is the reason they are paying their immigrants to go home. In the Czech Republic, the immigrants get an one-way plane ticket.

"before they give tax breaks to the wealthy"

No one gets a tax break. In France, the highest tax bracket is 50%. Plus, EVERYONE, rich or poor, MUST pay a 19.6% VAT on all purchases.

Assuming Facts Not In Evidence
"but you will wind up with one that looks a lot closer to the ME than the traditional European type of Democratic Socialism."

"All Western European countries put social services above profit, all take care of the less fortunate, before they give tax breaks to the wealthy, and all believe that basic food, shelter and health care are more important rights than your misreading of the 2nd ammendment."

Wow! You really know nothing about Europe.

Health care? Sure. In the UK, if you need a knee or hip replacement, you must wait at least 15 weeks. Back surgery and antibiotics are not permitted in the numbers here. If your parents have macular degeneration, they must lose their sight in one eye in order to get the medicine to save the other. If you are obese, smoke, do drugs, have unprotected sex, or are alcoholic, you may well be denied treatment because of your "lifestyle choices". If you have stomach cancer or a woman that you know has a type of breast cancer, you/she will be given "feel good until you die" meds because the cancer drugs are too expensive. And, on.

In Canada, if you need heart surgery, you must wait 3 YEARS. Brain surgery? A little less than 3 years. Need a MRI in a timely fashion? Hurry up and come here before Obamacare destroys our health care system or go to a veterinary clinic in Canada.

Hope that you are neither poor or elderly when a heat wave strikes France. I was visiting my sister during the Summer of 2003 when 18,000 people died.

Assuming Facts Not In Evidence
"Reactionary republicans like to make hay out of recent elections in Europe"

You do know what they say about one who assumes, don't you?

I am not a Republican. I am a fiscally-conservative, Constitutionalist without party affiliation.

Europe is trying to free itself from the chains of socialism because it is key to their survival. The EU average for annual growth of GDP is an anemic 1.9%. They have a dismal birth rate of 1.3, except for the Muslims.

France is projected to be a country with a Muslim majority in 2030. The Netherlands, Germans, Italians, Swedes, Dutch, Spainards, Portugese, and Brits have large and growing Muslim minorities.

You want a Scandavian or Western European NWO, but you will wind up with one that looks a lot closer to the ME than the traditional European type of Democratic Socialism.

pushing rocks uphill
continue to argue, continue to swim against the tides of history. The rest of the '1st world' isn't wrong while the USA is unilaterally correct. We are the ones who will change, not them. Deny it till your dying day; reality is reality.

Sweden
And they reverted back to "pay or die" health care? didn't think so

And they did away with guaranteed old age pensions? didn't think so

They instituted 'for profit' prisons? didn't think so

This could go on for a dozen pages, but I'll get to the point. Reactionary republicans like to make hay out of recent elections in Europe. But in NO countries have they decided to implement 'free market' ideology. All Western European countries put social services above profit, all take care of the less fortunate, before they give tax breaks to the wealthy, and all believe that basic food, shelter and health care are more important rights than your misreading of the 2nd ammendment.

steve

You might be interested in knowing that the Swedes voted out the socialists last year.

steve

Jesus was not a socialist. He believed in personal responsibility and freedom. He did not FORCE anyone to do anything like socialists countries do. He was not even liberal and he would certainly detest abortion and homosexuality.

As many posters here know, I have lived in two socialist countries, the UK and France. If you have not lived for a length of time in a socialist country, then you know not what you seek. You will find that there are really only two classes of people socialist countries - the elites, comprised of the wealthy and the politicians, and everyone else, who lives a less than American middle class life.

And, do not even get me started on socialized medicine. I would suggest that you study the NHS' criticisms of its own system, Britain's NICE Board, and the Canadian health care system. Why? Because this is what is proposed in the Kennedy-Dodd health care plan. Additionally, you might wish to read Tom Daschle's book, Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis. His plan has been praised by Democrats, but it will make your head explode when you read how he wants a health care board that will act like the Federal Reserve, bureaucrats that will ration or deny outright health care, and blow the deficit in to another galaxy.

poor choice
"Yeah, I want to be treated like women in Africa"

Neither would I. But then I wouldn't want to be treated like Native Americans here in the USofA. I am hoping for something more along the lines of Scandinavia, although some combination of greater Europe, Canada, Australia / New Zealand and Japan is a more likely outcome. And if you really dread the future so much, plan on much misery, as progress is inevitable. The era of the robber barons and their serf-like, non-unionized labor, is gone for good. Socialism is good, just ask Jesus.

NWO?

Yeah, I want to be treated like women in Africa, the ME, and other Muslim countries.

Thanks, but no thanks.

and
Obama saw Bush's socialism and double down and quadrupled raised it to new heights. Obama fired CEOs of companies and boards and replace it with him cronies. I heard one report that GM was in a meeting with a new Obama appointee and he was telling GM what they needed to do. Raise the mileage of cars, make cars that people want, make them green, and blah, blah, blah. One of the GM engineers told him that what he wanted couldn't be done because it was against the laws of physics. This idiots response was, "We will just change the law of physics." ROFLMAO.

Ignore Zap

He has posted the same thing numerous times even though I have pointed out that oversight is always the duty of Congress, which failed to reserve to right to do so in TARP, and Chavez has called Obama both a ignoramus and to the left of him and the Castro Brothers.

When you give 5 hour speeches, you have to spew a lot.

no fear here...
"Why do you fear the truth?"

Amen bro!

You should have told Bush and Paulson. Paulson told top bankers last fall, that "they would have to accept government investment for the good of the American financial system."

Hugo Chavez, Venezuela's socialist president, found this a stunning move. He said, "Bush is to the left of me now!, Comrade Bush announced he will buy shares in private banks. Viva La Revolution!"

"I will never decide that it is proper to wear flats with a nice dress because Michelle does."

Then you are probably very short, sorry - I can only imagine the teasing you must have endured.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Actually, I am not short. I just have a lot more fashion sense than your first lady.
Good luck with the message
Most liberals simply lack the will or ability to intellectually confront the numerous and fatal problems with their ideology.
For example, it doesn't do any good to differentiate between individuals and the government because liberals believe that the government is the people and the people is the government. That is, unless the government is run by Republicans. Then it's them and us. This is illogical and intellectually dishonest, but these are the kinds of nostrums upon which liberalism is built.
Nevertheless, I applaud Mr. Beck's demolition work, noting that he has wisely picked his line of business because liberals will never fail to supply nonsense requiring demolition.
Dumbing Down?
Poor steve clings to his beloved intelligence that equates to liberal arts or some kind of degree. The problem you have is that intelligence doesn't equate to WISDOM and wisdom is actually what makes people and countries great. Obama and his cronies are intelligent but they have shown to have zero in the wisdom category. Obama has a war room of 8 behavioral experts to coach him on word usage and policy crafting to get the masses to follow him blindly (Time, May 09). Time glorified Obama but it really shows how blitzkrieg time frames and flat out lying can push stimulus crap, BS budget and government takeovers. The sad reality is that Obama will probably go down as a crappier pres. then even Jimmy Carter and thats bad... the Hamas sympathizer. What really makes me laugh at you steve is that your intelligent state has been bailed out by us dumb mid-westerners a couple of times and ya'll still can't figure out if your a foot or horseback!
flats?
Gee Steve
You seem to be upset at the notion that some of us think the government is dangerously meddlesome, far too big, and filled with power mad demagogues. And its appetite for growth is demonstrably insatiable.
Why do you fear the truth?
Who's Dumbed Down?
We actually know the Constitution, the law, science, philosphy, economics, history, finance and monetary policy.
I love the arts, opera, classical music, Nina Simone, etc. I detest Nascar.
All I know is that I am not dumb enough to buy what some snake oil salesman is selling.
I will never faint over a man.
I will never call a politician, God.
I will never cry my eyelashes off.
I will never weep and kiss a politician's statue.
I will never decide that it is proper to wear flats with a nice dress because Michelle does.
I will never name my dog after myself.
I will never be so arrogant and smug, as to dismiss the thoughtful considerations of people that disagree with me.
I do not think that I have a "special gift".
I do not think that I can lower sea levels and heal the planet.
I will never have a chip on my shoulder.
I will never take what is belongs to someone else so that I can spread the wealth to some pet cause of mine.
Yes, we know who is dumb ... the supporters of Obama, who are blindly following him into the Gates of Hell.
the dumbing down of America
Glen Beck:
- proud of his ignorance
- but too arrogant to be humble
this distinct faction of the Republican Party truly believes that NASCAR is preferable to the arts, and that our children would be better served by bible study than music, fine art and literature. (god forbid science, or philosophy!)
The good news is that this little dream world of theirs will never be competitive with the secular, foward thinkng societies of the emerging markets / developing world. Unless they barricade themselves into little Waco - like compounds, they will just be ignored by the rest of society.
Palin / Beck in 2012 .... you betcha! their campaign slogan - "We're Amercans, we don't need no fancy education, god will tell us what to do."
That's gotta hurt the resident libs...
"And now he's host of his own Fox News show, which, even though it airs in the ratings desert of late afternoon, has a bigger audience than every show on the other cable news channels."
-----
Yep... a bigger audience than Chrissy "leg-tingling" Mathews and the idiot ex-sportscaster turned rabid liberal shoutster, Keith Olbermann... and THEY are on during prime time.
BTW, Olbermann reminds me of a little, out-of-control terrier - always barking and humping the legs of visitors. Talk about "short-man's" syndrome!
I LIKE BECK
But then, I would. I like Rush, Prager, Tom Sullivan, and Hugh Hewitt, all for different, if related, reasons. I'd like to interject that I like John Stoessel as well. He is the only journalist on the three major networks with a shred of integrity.. I don't know how he keeps his job.
My Kids (30-something)...
...loooooooooooove Beck's manic style and common sense message re: Founding Principles.
The more Beck catches on, the better the country will be.
Here, Here
"Because it's good to have a super-successful cable-TV host arguing that life would be better if government -- Democrats and Republicans -- just left Americans alone.
"We should reject big government and look inside ourselves for all the things that built this country into what it was," Beck says. "
That says it all and fits perfectly into my call to re-elect NO ONE. Throw all the bums of both parties out. All the bums means every single member of Congress and the President.
Surprise, Surprise!
So the Left doesn't like Glenn Beck. How shocking. All he does is tell the truth about everyone. And he's popular. Maybe a candidate running for president should take the same approach?
Being named the Worst Person in the World by Olbermann is a badge of honor. Keith is very popular on DailyKos. Probably due to his being an objective, fair journalist.
