Bible Passage: Bible Passage: Psalm 103:2-6, 8-13, 17-18

Discussion Question: What characterizes a great father in your opinion?

Food for Thought:

For most people, the Christmas season is equated with family time, family traditions and family memories. For lots of us, those family sentiments are warm and good, but for some, they're painful.

Where is your father in your Christmas recollections? For too many of us, Christmas included an absentee father, or maybe it was one of the few times we saw our father. Tensions can arise at Christmas because of imperfect families.

Most of us, whether we have good or bad memories of our fathers, have thought at some time, "I wish my dad was more ________." Don't feel bad if you're ever wondered that. All fathers are imperfect.

The mistake we don't want to make is equating the qualities and traits of our physical father with God the Father. We could create a list of qualities we wish our own dads would have, and God the Father goes far beyond that. Psalm 103 helps us see just the kind of Father God is and how He wants to relate to us as His children. Use this study to venture into this wonderful psalm and discover the truths about the ultimate love the Father has for His children.
