Illegal Alien Arrested Fishing On Jet Ski On Lake Erie

Last Tuesday was a tough day on the lake for at least one fisherman. ABC 13 News reports that a wanted illegal alien was arrested while fishing on a jet ski near the Ohio side of Lake Erie last week.

Air and Marine Operations and Border Patrol agents spotted two docked jetskis on the lake but something seemed off. Upon closer inspection, the watercraft did not have proper state registration visible. Agents then asked the two men who were fishing for proper identification. The two men admitted that they did not have proper immigration papers and were subsequently brought back to the Sandusky border patrol station for paperwork.

One of the men was released after authorities determined he was legally in the country under the Obama era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, aka DACA. But, the other individual was in the country illegally. After running a background check, border patrol discovered the man actually been ordered to be removed from the country back in December 2012.

The United States Border Patrol released the following statement regarding the illegal alien's arrested:

“During the summer months Lake Erie is one of the busiest boating communities in the nation. This case is a testament to our highly skilled law enforcement ability to differentiate between legitimate boat traffic and nefarious traffic.”

On Monday last week, Ohio Border Patrol agents also arrested an illegal alien who had been previously deported from the country in 2012 for drunk driving. That individual was arrested for transporting seven other individuals who unlawfully entered the country.
