The slow march of the collectivist thinker always leads society toward complete government control over every function of the individual -- whether it be the economy or your sex life, the only way the world can work under a leftist reality is if self-autonomy becomes obsolete. We were reminded of this again today after a self-avowed "secular humanist, feminist, physician" tweeted that certain parents should be banned from having children. In other words, she supports eugenics much like early feminist hero Margaret Sanger.
"Men and women who have bad genes with genetic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, cancer, etc. should not produce children. They have no right to make others suffer," Taslima Nasreen tweeted.

In what seems like a parody, she defended her position by claiming that she too suffers because of her parents' genetic defects. "I love fish and meat and sweets. But I have to be a vegan in order to reduce the risk of early death," Nasreen said.

While Nasreen is not calling for abortion here, she is calling for mandated birth control. She has also supported radical abortion policies in the past. For example, she believes that "sex selective" abortion is a reproductive right.

Nasreen, who has faced death threats and exile due to her writings for criticizing what she says are misogynist religions such as Islam, has written numerous books and novels focusing on human rights. However, it seems that her ideas on human rights do not apply to all humans, rather only those she deems fit to reproduce.

This sort of thinking is inherently wrong, but also intrinsically connected with leftist thought and the abortion movement across the globe. For a true radical leftist, if abortion is not possible, then parents with "bad genes" should be prevented from reproducing the undesirable traits. With Nasreen's tweets, the woman once praised for her brave fight in the face adversity sounds more like the heralded feminist hero Margaret Sanger rather than a champion of freedom for all mankind.
Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, also sought a world devoid of what she deemed to be genetic malcontents. Sanger, as most conservatives know, was enamored by the racist eugenics movement which sought to rid the human race of certain traits.
As recently noted by Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, "The foundations for legalizing abortion in America...developed alongside the American eugenics movement. And significantly, Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger recognized the eugenic potential of her cause. She emphasized and embraced the notion that birth control 'opens the way to the eugenist.' As a means of reducing the 'ever increasing, unceasingly spawning class of human beings who never should have been born at all,' Sanger argued that 'Birth Control...is really the greatest and most truly eugenic method” of 'human generation.'"
Nasreen's tweet today reminds the pro-life movement that supporting life from conception until death, as most within the movement want to do, is not just about being anti-abortion. It is also about supporting the dignity of all human life, regardless of whatever "bad genes" supposed moral betters determine to be unwanted, and fighting for true reproduction rights.
