President-elect Donald Trump won the 2024 election in a sweeping victory because of the promises he made to fix America that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris unraveled.

The first thing Americans want Trump to fix is immigration. A post-election survey from Ipsos and Reuters found that 25 percent of voters think Trump should prioritize the immigration crisis fueled by the Biden-Harris Administration—a much larger share than any other issue.

During his campaign, Trump vowed to secure the southern border and begin construction on the border wall once again. He declared that every last illegal immigrant living in the United States would be deported back to their home countries on day one of his presidency.

The poll also found that 82 percent of Americans, including Democrats, surveyed believed Trump when he said he would order mass deportations— and indicated their support for it.

The incoming 47th president also vowed to end birthright citizenship, arguing that people should not automatically be entitled to U.S. citizenship just because they are born in America if their parents are illegal aliens.

Tax cuts were the second most essential issue respondents wanted Trump to focus on upon his arrival at the White House.

While campaigning, Trump announced a new policy to cut taxes for companies that create jobs in the U.S. He also pledged to raise tariffs on corporations shipping American jobs overseas. His economic plans will cut taxes, slash regulations, and supercharge the U.S. The president-elect’s policies will also end taxes on tips and social security payments for seniors.

In an NBC News election-day exit poll, 48 percent of Ohioans think that illegal immigration does more to “hurt the economy.” In comparison, only 44 percent of respondents believe it does more to “help the country.”
