Poll: Congressional Republicans Overwhelmingly Out of Touch With Base Voters

74% of Republican voters surveyed by Rasmussen Aug. 29-30 said their senators and members of Congress are out of touch with the base.

55% percent complained that Republicans in Congress are more liberal than the people who sent them to Washington. 84% of likely Republican voters say the party should stand for its beliefs rather than compromise with President Obama.  Out of voters unattached to either party, only 33% said the GOP should work in cooperating with President Obama.

Not surprisingly, Democrats disagreed.

Meanwhile, in Rasmussen's generic congressional ballot, Republicans now lead 43-36%.
