There is a saying about the NFL: its initials stand for ‘not for long.’ It’s not necessarily untrue, as the average professional football career is no more than four years. Most conk out after two. The Diggs brothers have lasted longer than that, though this year was not kind to either of their careers, some of which ended in legal entanglements.
Trevon Diggs was a star cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys. He led the league in interceptions with 11 in 2021. He was given a fat extension with the franchise before he was released this week. Supposedly, he wanted to remain in the DC area for the Christmas holiday, as he has family there. This request was denied by Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer, which led to a reported blowup.
My understanding of the Trevon Diggs situation is this: after the #Cowboys finished their Christmas game vs. the Commanders, Diggs requested with HC Brian Schottenheimer to stay in Washington for the holiday since he’s from the area and his family stays there. Meanwhile, Stefon, a wideout for the New England Patriots, who has amassed over 11,000 receiving yards thus far in his career, was slapped with felony strangulation charges from a December 2 incident involving his personal chef (via NBC News):

According to newly released court docs, the woman was asking for money owed to her, which “enraged” Diggs.

Star New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs is accused of slapping his live-in private chef and choking her until "she had trouble breathing," a newly released police report revealed Tuesday.
Mila Adams told police that on Dec. 2, she and Diggs had been trading texts about money she claims Diggs owes her and that when he "entered her unlocked bedroom" at his home outside Boston, their argument turned violent, according to a Dedham Police Department report filed Monday.
"She alleges that the male then smacked her across the face," the report says.
Diggs has denied the allegations.
The reactions, however, have been gold:

Stefon Diggs might be a horrible person, but he has 11,461 career receiving yards, so no matter what he deserves your utmost respect.

Yeah, not good, but I’m sure Trevon will find a new team. Stefon, well, who knows.
