This Democrat Just Got Busted for Putting Dead People on Election Petition

Things got crazy on college campuses, and the left decided to start taking hostages and seizing buildings to bolster its pro-Hamas advocacy, so apologies that this story fell by the wayside. It is arguably a local story, and charges have been filed, but it's also for a crime that I was told by Democrats seldom happens. Of course, I'm talking about election integrity issues here.

In New York, a local councilman got busted for putting dead people on election petitions. Rob Scott, 44, landed himself into some hot water when he alleged to have witnessed over a dozen signatures on such petitions, though some people on them can't recall ever signing them. Mr. Scott was arrested last month, the day after Tax Day 2024. He faces up to four years in prison if convicted (via NY Post):

An suburban New York councilman was charged after he submitted election petitions with fraudulent signatures — including three dead people, according to prosecutors and a report.

Rob Scott, 44, a Democrat serving on Peekskill Common Council, allegedly submitted a 2023 petition to run for a county lawmaker seat that was signed by individuals who died in 2012, 2017, and 2022, the Rockland/Westchester Journal News reported.

Eight other individuals whose names were included in the 37-page petition told prosecutors they’d never signed it.

Those and the dead men’s signatures were among the 537 on the petition Scott allegedly certified that he had witnessed himself.

Scott has been charged with a "false instrument for filing in the first degree."

Yet, have we forgotten that an entire municipal election result was tossed over rampant fraud? Yes. That happened in New Jersey. It fell through the cracks because everyone was freaking out over COVID, but 20 percent of the ballots in Paterson's 2020 elections, which were submitted via mail, were fraudulent. It was so bad a judge had to scrap the results. Superior Court Judge Ernest M. Caposela, who later retired but was recalled by the state Supreme Court due to backlog issues, declared the 2020 elections for the city were not free or fair and ordered a new election to be held.

Election integrity issues are popular across the board, except with elected Democrats, for reasons you probably already know.
