Did ABC News' Political Director Engage in Doublethink in Trump-Biden Poll Analysis?

It’s still early, but time has not been a friend to Joe Biden. The most precious resource in politics and governance is coming back to haunt the Biden administration, and it could get worse because we know their agenda items are either tone-deaf or laughably inept. Affluent white progressives who don’t work feel gun violence is a vital issue. Everyone else couldn’t give a crap.

Inflation is still unreasonably high due to the spending measures passed by the Biden White House. Bidenomics is as dead as Joe’s mental acuity. There are also problems with Joe’s left flank, with left-wingers frustrated that Biden didn’t go gung-ho on legislation promised during the 2020 campaign, specifically student loan debt. I don’t think the liberal press was prepared for things to be this atrocious at the outset of Biden’s re-election effort. A new Washington Post-ABC News poll is especially damning for the president, where Trump is not only leading Biden by almost 10 points in a hypothetical matchup, but almost half the country says they’re in worse financial shape than they were four years ago.

ABC News’ Rick Klein broke down the recent survey but appeared to engage in doublethink, which was not lost on Newsbusters’ Tim Graham. As Graham noted on Twitter, Trump’s lead in the polls is a “quirk,” though every data subset in the survey showing Biden being underwater is real:

Well, that would explain Trump’s lead over Biden, Rick. He’s sucking, so voters are going to the other guy.

Klein explained one of the quirks where one in five GOP voters who want Trump barred from running again would support him anyway. He chalked that up to anti-Biden feelings superseding pro-Trump sentiments, but it’s all the same. Voters don’t like this guy and no matter who the other candidate might be, which at this point is Trump, dissatisfied voters will flock to that camp. This isn’t hard, folks. Biden has been a monumental disaster.

Because of segments like this, the fake news monikers remain salient. The establishment media folks trying to partition lousy poll numbers for Biden, declaring those figures involving Trump are flukes, but the others as accurate, are laughably transparent. The latter statistics explain Trump’s supposed rise. Again, it’s way too early, but it’s not good for Democrats.

The figure that is most damning for Biden is those who say his presidency has made them poorer. That has been an election killer in the past.
