Look, Bill, we know you’re married to a black woman, but that doesn’t give you the license to bash black voters who support Biden because they’re not down with your left-wing antics. Yeah, last week, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio pretty much said that, suggesting that these voters who catapulted the former vice president to frontrunner status are of the low-information type. Of course, when pressed about his remarks, which he uttered during an interview with MSNBC on March 5, Billy denied it, but I mean…well, you decide (via the Grio):
New York Mayor Bill de Blasio implied… that Black voters who support Joe Biden for president are doing so because of his ties with former President Barack Obama and with insufficient information on his record.
During an interview on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, de Blasio was asked why Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), whom he endorsed, lost the Black vote to Biden in South Carolina and on Super Tuesday and de Blasio said it was because Black people only had a “certain amount of information” on Biden.
“It stands to reason if people have a certain amount of information — and I don’t blame them for this, I understand it,” de Blasio said on the show, before a host, Elise Jordan, sought clarification from him on his comment, reported The New York Times.
“So you’re saying they were low information?” Jordan asked de Blasio.
“No, no, no,” responded de Blasio. “I’m saying you had a whole lot of candidates, which I think is a very different discussion. The information that I think people received about Joe Biden was some of his historic connection, which, understandably, means something to people.”
Co-host Willie Geist asked de Blasio if he was referring to Biden’s connection to Obama, whom he served under as vice president.

“I think Black voters knew enough about both of them to say which one they were interested in,” said Melanye Price, a professor of political science at Prairie View A&M University, according to The New York Times. Price added that she found the mayor’s remarks “condescending.”
Davin Phoenix, an associate professor of political science at the University of California, Irvine, said this idea that Black people are not informed about Biden’s record reflects a “fundamental lack of comprehension of how black voters generally navigate politics.”
So, @BilldeBlasio is on @Morning_Joe pushing the theory that all the black voters who showed up for @JoeBiden on Super Tuesday were misinformed or lacked information.

Now, that’s ironic. The mayor who pretty much said black voters are low info for supporting the establishment is called out for…being “ignorant” about how black voters “navigate politics.” Even with their own supporters, the urban-based snobs just hate rural America. And Biden nabbed a lot of black voter support from these areas south of the Mason-Dixon line on Super Tuesday, the same as Clinton in 2016. This is how Hillary won the nomination.
Billy took it in the teeth—and rightfully so. If he weren’t a Democrat, he would be canceled. It could be partially grounded in a left-wing tantrum. Biden shocked everyone, going from a campaign that was on life support to becoming the undisputed frontrunner for the Democratic nomination in the span of two weeks. He won 10 of the 14 states on Super Tuesday. The lesson here: maybe the nation isn’t ready for a left-wing revolution. Maybe Sanders’ base, whole vocal, tenacious, and energetic, isn’t large enough to carry him over the top. One huge issue with it: young people. They still don’t vote. The Sanders revolution’s second revival could be extinguished more quickly than its previous 2016 run. It seems black Southern Democrats once again were the folks who pumped the brakes hard on this moment—again. Maybe they aren’t left-wing. That’s a slap to the face and we all know when the progressive Left doesn’t have their way, they riot. Or in Bill's case, toss out a rather horrific observation about black voters, a key Democratic voting bloc.
