Schumer Calls Out Mad Maxine: Calls To Harass Trump Officials In Public Are 'Not American'

Well, I never thought I’d see any heavyweight Democrat stand up to this nonsense, but alas—Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), the Senate Minority Leader, has decided to (indirectly) call out Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), who went on an unhinged tirade over the weekend. She basically called for liberals to harass Trump officials wherever they may be. Waters is stanchly anti-Trump. She’s working to impeach him. Why? Well, because he’s not Hillary Clinton. It’s just sour grapes. But this is Resistance warfare—and it’s being taken seriously. Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi was harassed after seeing a documentary about Mister Rogers. She also isn’t the only pro-Trump politician harassed by the unhinged legions of the Left (via CBS News) [emphasis mine]:

Protesters confronted Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi at a showing of a documentary about children's TV host Fred Rogers, and they questioned the Republican's stands on immigration and health care. The Tampa Bay Times reports Bondi received a police escort Friday when several members of Organize Florida confronted her as she left a Tampa theater after seeing "Won't You Be My Neighbor" about Mr. Rogers.

The demonstrators questioned Florida joining a lawsuit against the Affordable Care Act and Bondi's general support of President Donald Trump's immigration policies.

This is at least the third time a Republican official has been confronted at a public place in recent days over the president's immigration policy that separated parents entering the country illegally at the Mexican border from their children. Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen and Trump spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders left restaurants in the Washington, D.C., area after facing friction there.

Now, Sen. Schumer is criticizing these calls, saying they’re un-American (via The Hill):

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Monday said calls for opponents of the Trump administration to publicly harass Cabinet members are “not American,” arguing Democrats should focus their energy on winning elections.

“I strongly disagree with those who advocate harassing folks if they don't agree with you. ... No one should call for the harassment of political opponents. That's not right. That's not American,” Schumer said from the Senate floor.

Schumer added that he understands the “frustrations” some members of his party feel when Trump “complains about bullying [and] harassment” even though the president uses it “as a regular tool almost every day.”

“But the president’s tactics and behavior should never be emulated. It should be repudiated by organized, well-informed and passionate advocacy.

Schumer may have the discipline, but the base of the Democratic Party does not. These people are totally unspooled. We’ve seen that, but I say let them vent. Let them rage. It won’t win them votes. It’s one massive in-kind contribution campaign for the 2020 Trump campaign. I’m sure some on the Left know this, but they won’t be able to get this rabble in line. These are people saturated with feelings and the obsession of being on the right side of history—whatever the hell that means. They must oppose Trump, so this will probably continue. In the meantime, the economy is booming, no one supports catch and release, which could be coming back, and Trump’s support has only intensified and become stronger…because the Left’s attacks are beyond outrageous. There is a part of me that likes the aspect that we’re now cutting through the BS of politics. There are sides. You are on one side or the other—and these rambunctious antics demonstrate that. It also shows people for who they rally are; they can be who they want to be. I’m not so sure I’m lamenting this so-called loss of civility in our politics. It is a fight. At times, it’s a fight over the soul of the country. They should be intense.
