Trumped: NFL Ticket Sales Decline By Almost 20 Percent

UPDATE: TickPick contacted Townhall with an updated quote. It reads:

While we can’t specify if this decrease is due to the President’s comments, player and owner protests, play on the field, or simply the continued division of consumer’s media attention; the conversation around the NFL, this week, has focused on the President’s comments as well as the players’ and owners’ reaction. As viewers continue to change their NFL Sunday habits, it is possible that the number of ticket sales and the purchase price of tickets may drop.”

Guy wrote yesterday about the revolt among National Football League Fans that has erupted after players have decided to go to war with President Trump and take a knee during the national anthem. Last Friday, Trump slammed players who do this during the Star-Spangled Banner. This all began when Colin Kaepernick, who was with the San Francisco 49ers at the time—took a knee during the national anthem. Now, the positive note is that this is a culture battle that Trump has already won; 72 percent think Kaepernick’s antics are unpatriotic. On the downside, progressives have politicized football. It’s the politicization of everything, but the Left cannot leave anyone alone. They will find you; they will make you care. Yet, fans from across the country are cancelling NFL packages and burning their merchandise

The Trump effect is already being felt, with a decline in ticket sales. As of week three, the NFL is down almost 20 percent in sales. Last year, the drop at this point in the season was around 10 percent. Paul Bedard at the Washington Examiner has more:

The online ticket reseller TickPick told Secrets that sales have dropped 17.9 percent, far more than the usual Week Three fall.

From TickPick:

17.9 percent decrease in NFL orders this week compared to the previous week.

Last year the drop was 10.8 percent in orders on Monday & Tuesday following Week Three games.

Now, TickPick says they can’t definitively say this was due to the controversy over the national anthem. It’s a safe bet that it is, however. Maybe it’s a sign that the NFL shouldn’t go to war with their fans. Maybe it’s a sign that whatever the cause, taking a knee during the national anthem will be seen as a sign of disrespect to the flag, our veterans, and those still in uniform. Maybe it’s a sign that the NFL should cater to their fans, millions of which back Trump on this, than try to win a battle in whuch they cannot emerge victorious.

If you're passionate about race inequality, police brutality, Black Live Matter, or whatever—your cause will be forgotten the instant you’re seen as being unpatriotic. These guys could have waited until after the game to say what was on their mind through press conferences, interviews, social media, their agents etc., instead they decided to pull this stunt and forever throw whatever cause they're passionate about into the trash. No one cares when you bash America.

Oh, and then there’s this crap to show once again how the Left’s gulf between them and the rest of the country is equivalent to that of traveling to Neptune.
