NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio Runs Away As Woman Asks Why He's Letting The NYPD Down

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio decided to head to Germany to protest against President Donald Trump because when people think geopolitics, they think De Blasio. It was after Alexander Bonds murdered New York City Police Officer Miosotis Familia inside a mobile command RV over the Fourth of July weekend. Bonds was later shot and killed by other police officers. Yet, days after the tragic shooting, De Blasio decided to hop on a jet to Hamburg, Germany, where the G-20 Summit was being held. The excuse was that the Germans were paying for the trip, though his office kept quiet about his travel plans until hours before he boarded the plane. Besides Officer Familia’s death, De Blasio missed the swearing-in ceremony for 524 new police officers. De Blasio defended his German excursion by saying the world needs to know that not all Americans align with Trump. Well, that’s a given for anyone who was watching the election night results, Bill. Fox News’s Greg Gutfeld torched De Blasio’s trip, calling him a “horrible, little man child.”

Now, 63-year-old Vickie Paladino had her chance to press De Blasio on his German trip, which she did with tenacity when the mayor visited Whitestone to announce a new $16 million infrastructure project. De Blasio decided to deploy countermeasures and walk away. Jessica Chasmar at The Washington Times had more:

Mr. De Blasio
was visiting Whitestone on Thursday to announce an additional $16 million in funding to smooth out uneven sidewalks caused by tree roots, NY1 reported. After wrapping up a press conference, the mayor was greeting constituents when longtime Whitestone resident Vickie Paladino confronted him.

“I want to know why you let your police officers down and our country down by going to Germany and protesting against our country,” she said. “I don’t care about the trees. We’ll work it out. Find $18 million to put in your cops’ pockets. And pay your police officers.”

Mr. De Blasio didn’t acknowledge the woman and retreated to his vehicle.

“De Blasio: Be a mayor!” she said. “Don’t talk to me about trees, talk to me about protection of our city, of our citizens, and what you’re gonna do for your police officers. Because you left them high and dry on more than one occasion. Can’t wait for Election Day. Buddy, you are out!”

Vickie, are you going to run? CBS New York described Paladino as bringing WrestleMania into the streets with this protest, but added that De Blasio was not like Hulk Hogan or The Rock. He was the Cowardly Lion from the Wizard of Oz. Ouch.
