Democratic Congressman: I’m Working On Articles Of Impeachment Against Trump

While Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) has been peddling odd conspiracy theories, rehashing the unfounded allegations that the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians, and calling for President Trump’s impeachment, one of her colleagues, Rep. Al Green (D-TX), is actually working on such articles to be filed against the president (via Circa):

Green did not say whether he would file a privileged resolution for impeachment. Such a resolution would have to be considered in the House in two days. He did say, however, that he would be working with constitutional lawyers.

“At some point, we’ll wait to see what others will do, and if no one else does, the president has committed an impeachable act, and I will take it upon myself to do that,” Green said.

Earlier this week, on CSPAN, Mr. Green said that he feels compelled to take this course of action after the president fired James Comey as FBI director, an action he feels constituted obstruction of justice. The FBI was investigating the allegations that collusion took place between Trump officials and the Russians during the 2016 election. There has been zero evidence to suggest such collusion took place. Other Democrats, like Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO), Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD), and Rep. Joe Crowley (D-NY), have all said there’s no solid evidence of collusion. Democrats on the Senate Intelligence Committee are admitting that no evidence might be found to corroborate this claim as well. Also, we don’t know if the president obstructed justice. So far, Trump hasn't committed any acts that would be considered criminal, according to ex-Clinton attorney Robert Bennett. Also, when President Nixon fired special prosecutor Archibald Cox, there was direct evidence linking the White House to the Watergate break-in and its attempted cover-up. It was clear Nixon as trying to impede the investigation that would have led to his impeachment. Right now, there is no incriminating evidence plaguing the Trump White House.
