No, President Trump Didn’t Give FBI Director Comey A ‘Bro Hug’

We have another fake news alert. At the First Responders ceremony at the White House, President Trump noticed FBI Director James Comey in attendance.

“Oh, there’s James. He's become more famous than me,” Trump said as the director walked over to shake the hand of the 45th president of the United States. The president shook his hand, whispered something in his ear, and that was it.

I’m sure liberals were losing their minds, given the role the FBI played in the 2016 election, especially the letter Comey wrote to members of Congress weeks before Election Day, informing them that new emails found on Huma Abedin’s laptop will be reviewed. Abedin was a top aide for Hillary Clinton. Many cite the letter, including the Clinton campaign, for sinking the former secretary of state’s presidential hopes. Though if she had followed government protocol regarding record keeping of electronic communications and not setting up an unauthorized and unsecured email server to conduct official State Department business, the FBI and the emails would not have been an issue. Clinton lost the election…because of Hillary Clinton.

This aspect, plus the notion that the FBI might have had information of Russian interference, led many liberals denouncing Comey during and after the election. Yet, this casual handshake with President Trump led to some in the news media, like Time’s Zeke Miller and AFP’s Andrew Beatty, reporting that there was a “bro hug.” Uh, no such thing happened.

Miller was the one who incorrectly reported that the bust of Martin Luther King Jr. was removed from the Oval Office. Also, this is a “bro hug” via Medium:

There was no hug. It was just a handshake. While White House Communications Director and Press Secretary Sean Spicer might have been wrong about Trump’s inauguration attendance (the president drew a healthy crowd, but it wasn’t the largest ever to witness it in person or around the world), but it’s sort of interesting to see how the media is so gung-ho about the truth all of a sudden. Remember, if you like your plan, you can keep your plan? Yeah, that’s probably the most explicit example...of a lie.
