It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Primaries are a wonderful thing.  If there were merely a one-day national election, then Rudy Giuliani would probably have won.  Money and name id would be

all that matters.  Certainly, Mike Huckabee and John McCain would not have a chance (Reagan wouldn't have had a chance in '76, either). 

Lucky for us, the system forces candidates to campaign in these small and unique states, where they are forced to interact with voters one-on-one (or suffer the consequences).  They can then build off of early victories, and try to hobble together enough victories to ultimately wrest control of the nomination. 

So tonight the Redskins will play, and then there will be a Republican debate in New Hampshire.  If you're a football and political junkie, it's the most wonderful time of the year!
