Who is Push-Polling Mitt Romney?

Jonathan Martin and the AP are both reporting on anti-Romney, anti-Mormon calls being made in Iowa.  McCain and Rudy have both denied being involved.

As Martin reports:
An individual in Manchester, Iowa, contacted me on Wednesday night saying he received a call with information about McCain's military service and anti-spending record.

This sounds suspicious to me.  If McCain were behind these calls, would he be sloppy enough to leave his fingerprints all over them?  Probably not.  (Unless reverse psychology is at play here...)

... Could this be a setup?  In a multi-candidate race, it is not unheard of for candidate A to attempt to take down candidates B and C by making it look like candidate B is putting out negative information about candidate C ...

If someone is trying to take down Romney and McCain, they could simultaneously kill two birds with one stone:

1. Attack Romney on his faith
2. Make McCain look like a bad person for "going negative."

Stay tuned ...
