Not Pulling a Dole, But Maybe He Should Have ...

Marc Ambinder points out that rumors of John McCain "pulling a Dole" and leaving the Senate (in order to concentrate on his presidential run) are bogus.  While I agree that it's highly unlikely, I stand by my contention (not sure if I ever wrote about this, or not) that McCain should have stepped down at the end of his last term.

John McCain -- the candidate who attends townhall meetings -- is much more attractive than the John McCain -- the bi-partisan Senator -- who does photo-ops with Ted Kennedy. 

Imagine all the bumps in the road that McCain might have missed, had he not also been a sitting U.S. Senator ...
