Jonah on McCain

Jonah Goldberg is taking some grief over his recent column about John McCain.   In response, he makes another interesting point today:

"... I think some folks confuse being a bad Republican — which McCain has surely sometimes been — with being a bad conservative which he has less frequently been."

Jonah and I seem to have the same view of McCain.  We both hate campaign finance reform, but also believe his harshest critics display a somewhat irrational dislike for the man.  As Goldberg notes, Fred Thompson was in favor of campaign finance reform ,too ... (For the record, so was Romney and Rudy -- and Bush signed it into law ...)
