Earmark of the Week: 'Dr. 90210' Edition

Rep. Flake highlights one of our government's charming excesses for us once a week.

Republican Congressman Jeff Flake, who represents the Arizona’s Sixth District, today highlighted a pork project contained in the Agriculture appropriations bill for fiscal year 2006.

This week’s egregious earmark: $150,000 to address the obesity epidemic and promote a healthier lifestyle in Davis, California.

“I don’t think this is what taxpayers meant when they asked us to cut fat from the budget,” said Flake.

I think Flake's quotes are always my favorite part of these.

And, may I add--silly Congress. Californians need taxpayer handouts for plastic surgery, not healthier lifestyles. It's like they've never even seen "Dr. 90210." You can't trust these guys with even the most basic of research.
