Trump Signed an Order Ousting Transgenders From the Military. This Bill Takes It a Step Further.

Earlier this month, Townhall covered how the Pentagon ordered the removal of up to 1,000 so-called “transgender” service members. This came after months of reports indicating that President Donald Trump’s administration would crack down on diversity initiatives that allow transgender people in the military.

Predictably, this policy was challenged, and the Supreme Court upheld it.

Now, one Republican lawmaker plans to take this a step further.

This week, Alabama Republican Rep. Barry Moore revealed that he is introducing a bill that will make Trump’s ban on transgender troops permanent.

"What we had with this trans movement was we had a bunch of people coming in, signing a six-year contract, and then starting the surgeries and starting the hormone replacements,” Moore explained in an interview on Fox News.

“They [the transgender service members] weren't fit for service, so they spent four or five years on the taxpayer's dime getting these surgeries and these chemicals and all this stuff, and then by the time they could really actually serve, they were ready to get out," Moore continued.

“They [the transgender service members] weren't fit for service, so they spent four or five years on the taxpayer's dime getting these surgeries and these chemicals and all this stuff, and then by the time they could really actually serve, they were ready to get out," Moore continued.

"I think in many ways the taxpayers get a much bigger bang for their buck, No. 1," Moore went on. "And No. 2, I think that if I'm looking at joining, these guys are really focused on fighting, and if I'm in the foxhole with these guys, these are people I've trained with, they're capable. You've got to have that on a battlefield."

Moore elaborated on the bill in a series of posts on X.

“Under the Biden Administration, our military was overrun with woke insanity that threatened the readiness and strength of our armed forces. Our soldiers deserve better…This obsession with radical gender ideology was done to appease the leftist activists who were willing to throw the rigorous physical and mental health standards expected of our military out of the window,” he explained.

“We are in dangerous times and our men and women in uniform should only have to focus on countering the threats we face as a nation,” he added. “It's time to rein in the gender insanity that occurred under the Biden Administration and return our military to their core mission: defending the United States and its interests.”
