Since President Donald Trump entered office, he has signed a slew of executive orders gutting “woke” policies. This includes banning so-called “transgenders” from the military.

As Mia covered, Trump's latest executive order pertaining to "transgender troops" states that "adoption of a gender identity inconsistent with an individual's sex conflicts with a soldier's commitment to an honorable, truthful, and disciplined lifestyle, even in one's personal life."

What do Americans think of this topic? A Gallup poll published this week shows that a majority of Americans, 58 percent, favor allowing transgender men and women to serve in the U.S. military.

However, this has declined from 71 percent in 2019 and 66 percent in 2021.

This poll began the day Trump was inaugurated last month.

This drop is support is driven by Republicans and Independents, Gallup noted

The current 23% of Republicans who back openly transgender men and women serving in the military is down from twin 43% readings in 2019 and 2021. Meanwhile, independents’ 62% support is significantly below the 78% reading in 2019 but similar to the 66% from 2021. Democrats’ backing for transgender military service currently stands at 84% and has been generally steady since 2019.

In Trump’s previous term, he placed restrictions on transgenders serving in the military. Of course, President Joe Biden reversed this.

As Mia noted, according to Trump's directive, the U.S. cannot focus on developing a lethal, unified fighting force if the military is accommodating "ideologies harmful to unit cohesion."

"A man's assertion that he is a woman, and his requirement that others honor this falsehood, is not consistent with the humility and selflessness required of a service member," the mandate says.
