Late last month, Townhall reported how a new poll showed former President Donald Trump defeating Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former South Carolina governor and Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley in the 2024 Republican primary. Out of the three, Trump and Haley have both announced their candidacy. Several reports have indicated that DeSantis and former GOP Rep. Liz Cheny, as well as others, might run on the Republican ticket as well.
A new Morning Consult 2024 GOP Primary Tracker poll released Tuesday shows that former President Donald Trump is currently in the lead at 54 percent support. Second is DeSantis at 26 percent support. Former Vice President and Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, Haley, and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy are in the single digits.

After voters shared their first choice in a Republican primary, they were asked about who their second choice would be. Out of the respondents who said their first choice would be Trump, 46 percent said they would choose DeSantis as their second choice, followed by Pence (17 percent), Haley (6 percent) and 17 percent who said “don’t know.”
On the contrary, out of the respondents who said that DeSantis was their first choice, 43 percent said that Trump would be their second choice, followed by Pence (16 percent), Haley (15 percent), Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) and 5 percent who said “don’t know.”
If the 2024 presidential election were held today, 44 percent of respondents said they would vote for President Joe Biden. Forty-one percent said they’d vote for Trump.

In a DeSantis versus Biden 2024 election, 43 percent of respondents said they’d vote for Biden, while 41 percent said they’d vote for DeSantis.
Townhall reported this week that the Manhattan grand jury weighing an indictment against former Trump reportedly scheduled testimony from another witness for Wednesday. This came after Trump said that his indictment would likely occur this week.
“Right now, it's rumor, and I certainly hope it’s not the case,” Haley said in a Fox News interview on Monday. “From everything I’m seeing from this New York district attorney is that this would be something he’d be doing for political points. And, I think what we know is when you get into political prosecutions like this, it’s more about revenge than it is about justice. And I think the country would be better off talking about things that the American public cares about than to sit there and have to deal with some revenge by some political people in New York.”
