Theo Von's Objection to DHS Using Him in Video Spurs Debate

The Department of Homeland Security deleted a video that featured Theo Von after the podcaster complained on X about DHS not getting his consent (and not getting paid). The video started with Von saying “I heard you got deported, dude. Bye” and then cuts to footage of ICE officials detaining and deporting illegal immigrants as removal stats are shown.

“Yooo DHS i didnt approve to be used in this,” Von responded. “I know you know my address so send a check. And please take this down and please keep me out of your ‘banger’ deportation videos.”

“When it comes to immigration my thoughts and heart are alot more nuanced than this video allows,” he continued. “Bye!”

The clip came from a video earlier this year of a fan allegedly asking him to send a message to someone who was deported.

While his objection was widely criticized, it was his follow-up response that was telling.

"it’s crazy to me that they would think this is OK," he replied to an X user saying they appreciated him pushing back because "Nuance is important here."

"What if someone attacks me tomorrow because they think I’m some final boss of deportatins or somethin," Von added, underscoring a point that's been painfully obvious in recent weeks—left-wing violence is out of control. Many argued he should've just come out and said it.

Others argued there was no need for all the backlash to Von's response.
