While there are plenty of critics of President Trump’s handling of the Wuhan virus, one person who is not complaining is progressive California Gov. Gavin Newsom—and that should be telling.

Speaking to reporters about the administration's cruise ship response, Newsom said Trump delivered on all of his promises to him during a private phone call to help California, which is in a state of emergency over the virus.

"We had a private conversation, but he said, 'We're gonna do the right thing' and 'You have my support, all of our support, logistically and otherwise,'" Newsom said at a news conference.

"He said everything I could have hoped for," the governor asserted. "And we had a very long conversation and every single thing he said, they followed through on.”

He went on to note that the support he’s received from Trump and Vice President Mike Pence has been “consistent with the expectation that we’d repatriate these passengers and we’d do it in a way that does justice to the spirit that defines the best of our country and the state of California."

The comments below the tweet were filled with messages noting how refreshing it was that leaders from opposing sides could work together on an issue, and that the media would actually cover it positively.

Trump and Newsom have had a history of battling each other in wars of words and lawsuits, ranging from water rules, fracking, and homelessness to immigration issues
