Former Vice President Joe Biden struck a familiar tone on the campaign trail on Monday when discussing his healthcare plan, arguing that people can keep their private health insurance if they like it.

In denouncing his opponents’ Medicare For All proposals, Biden said his plan would offer a Medicare-like public option.

"I give people the option," Biden said. "If you like your health care plan, your employer-based plan, you can keep it."

"You get full coverage, and you can stay with your plan if you like it. You can stay with your employer-based plan, or you can move on. I think it's the quickest, most reasonable, rational and best way to get to universal coverage,” he added.

Biden has indicated that massive income-based subsidies would ensure that any household could get coverage through exchanges.

The idea is to expand coverage immediately and shake up insurance markets long-term by forcing private insurers to compete alongside the government, theoretically pressuring to lower their premiums and out-of-pocket costs for private policyholders. (FoxNews.com)

“I understand the appeal of Medicare for All, but folks supporting it should be clear that it means getting rid of ObamaCare, and I’m not for that,” Biden said in his video announcement about the plan.
