ICE Director Makes Very Clear Where the Blame Should Go in Immigration Crisis

Acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Thomas Homan echoed DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen in slamming the media and politicians who are “intentionally misleading the American people” on the immigration crisis at the border.

Homan said the vast majority of asylum claims brought before immigration court judges have been deemed “frivolous.”

“What no one is talking about is the underlying reason for this whole argument—are these families really escaping fear and persecution? The immigration court has said in the last year and a half over 80 percent of these claims are frivolous,” he told Carlson. “So we have to attack the very foundation they’re arguing these people are coming to the country. These parents themselves are using these children as pawns to gain entry to the United States.”

As for the separation of families, Homan said the blame is on the parents.

“They are choosing to enter between the ports of entry, they know they will be separated but they want to blame the government when we are forced to do that. So let’s put the blame where it lies, not on the fine men and women of Border Patrol and ICE, we’re enforcing the law.”

Homan and Carlson also discussed the silence from these same critics when illegal immigrants kill American citizens. 

"I wish there was this much outrage when we met with Angel Mothers whose children were killed [by] illegal aliens," Homan said. "[They're] separated from their families forever."
