Trump's Wednesday Morning Tweetstorm: Sanctuary Cities Court Ruling and the Economy

President Trump called out the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit Wednesday morning over its ruling against his administration’s sanctuary city and travel ban policies.

“First the Ninth Circuit rules against the ban & now it hits again on sanctuary cities-both ridiculous rulings. See you in the Supreme Court!” he tweeted.

The tweet comes after a federal judge in San Francisco blocked his administration’s policy that would strip sanctuary cities of federal funding. The judge ruled that that “the Constitution vests the spending powers in Congress, not the President, so the Order cannot constitutionally place new conditions on federal funds.”

The same court also ruled against his administration’s travel ban earlier this year.

“Out of our very big country, with many choices, does everyone notice that both the "ban" case and now the "sanctuary" case is brought in ... ..the Ninth Circuit, which has a terrible record of being overturned (close to 80%). They used to call this "judge shopping!" he continued.

Shortly after, he turned his attention to the economy.

“The U.S. recorded its slowest economic growth in five years (2016). GDP up only 1.6%. Trade deficits hurt the economy very badly,” he wrote.
