Krauthammer Warns GOP Civil War Will Kick Off Tomorrow

Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer is predicting that no matter the outcome tonight, a civil war will start in the GOP tomorrow morning.

If Donald Trump wins, “he will irreversibly reshape the party,” Krauthammer said, explaining that he will take it away from the party of Reagan to a more populist movement.

“We will have a long experiment in populism led by the new GOP,” he continued.

And if the GOP nominee loses? Fox News host Bill Hemmer asked.

“He will be the one to determine which way the future of the party goes,” Krauthammer replied. “He feels he’s created something … He created this populist movement … and it changes the GOP if it goes from conservatism to populism … I think he stays in the game, he becomes the kingmaker. If he loses by a respectable margin … I think he becomes the de facto leader of the party. And I think Paul Ryan represents the old Reaganite consensus. And I think the civil war will begin Wednesday.”
