House Majority Whip and Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) tweeted out a video ahead of tomorrow’s congressional baseball game, played every year at the Nationals stadium.

Rep. Scalise was shot before last year's game, on June 14th, as he was out practicing in Alexandria, Virginia.
Townhall's Cortney O'Brien reported on the event when it occurred last year.
"Tonight we're all Team Scalise," said House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi the night of the game, when she, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, and Senate Majority and Minority Leaders Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Chuck Schumer (D-NY) respectively, introduced the event. Scalise was supposed to start at second base.
Scalise was not the only one injured on the day before. In fact, a poster was seen on the ground outside the stadium, where guests wrote messages for all those injured in the shooting.

One of the most inspiring moments that night occurred when Scalise was introduced and his face appeared on the Jumbotron while he was still recovering in MedStar Washington Medical Center. He received a standing ovation.
It was reported in April that Scalise was beginning a series of "planned, inpatient surgeries." On April 21st, MedStar Washington released the following statement:

Scalise received a standing ovation when he returned to Congress on September 28, 2017.
