Late last week, Border Patrol agents encountered two men. One was previously convicted of attempted murder and the other of sexually assaulting a child. They are both aggravated felons and were arrested in California.

Here's how the first incident went down, according to CBP:

The first incident occurred on Friday, Sept 27 at around 5 p.m., when agents assigned to the El Centro Station encountered a man suspected of illegally entering the United States approximately 22 miles west of the Calexico West Downtown Port of Entry.  Agents arrested the man and transported him to the El Centro Station for immigration and criminal history screening.

Agents conducted records checks, which revealed that the man was Oscar Rodriguez-Espinoza, a 52-year-old Mexican national, convicted of Attempted Murder and Lewd or Lascivious Acts with Child Under 14 in 2003 out of the state of California.  Rodriguez received an 11-year prison sentence for those crimes.

Rodriguez was removed from the United States by an Immigration Judge on Sept. 11, 2012 as an aggravated felon.

And the second:

The second incident occurred on Saturday, Sept. 28 at around 2 a.m., when agents assigned to the Calexico Station encountered a man suspected of illegally entering the United States approximately one-half mile east of the Calexico West Downtown Port of Entry.  Agents arrested the man and transported him to the El Centro Station for immigration and criminal history screening.

Agents conducted records checks, which revealed that the man was Jose Alonso Vazquez-Ramirez, a 27-year-old Mexican national, convicted of Sex with Minor: Perp 21+ Victim -16, in 2013 out of the state of California.  Vasquez received 120 days in prison and five years of probation.
