President Trump and White House officials are slamming Democrats as they continue their refusal to solve the ongoing crisis on the southern border.

Over the weekend, Trump announced a deal with Mexico had been reached in order to hold off tariffs that were set to go into affect today.

As part of the deal, Mexico has agreed to a number of security measures. They include the deployment of 6000 Mexican soldiers to the southern border with Guatemala and allowing Central Americans to wait in Mexico until their asylum claims, most of which are fraudulent, are processed.

During an interview with Fox and Friends Monday morning, White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway argued Democrats are doing less than Mexican officials to take action.

"Mexico took the President's tariff threat very seriously and they're starting to take enforcement of their southern border seriously. This is important to both countries. We now have Mexico doing more than the Democrats who work behind me on Capitol Hill on securing our southern border," Conway said.

Last week U.S. Customs and Border Protection released new apprehension numbers for May 2019. They were up more than 30 percent from apprehensions in April.

Meanwhile, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham will hold a hearing on Tuesday about his legislation to fix the ongoing crisis.
