Just prior to the press conference, a reporter was kicked out of the room for holding up a sign that said, "Nuclear Weapon Ban Treaty." He works for the liberal media outlet "The Nation."

While reporters are allowed to ask questions, they are not allowed to advocate for political or non-political causes during press conferences.

President Trump said prior to the meeting he would discuss the issue of nuclear proliferation with Putin.

"I really think the world wants to see us get along. We are the two great nuclear powers. We have 90 percent of the nuclear. That’s not a good thing that’s a bad thing. And I think we hopefully can do something about that. Because it’s not a positive force, it’s a negative force," Trump said.

During the press conference, President Putin said the Cold War is over and they he hopes to move forward with the U.S. in a productive, peaceful way.
