President Trump Met With Four Potential Supreme Court Nominees at the White House Monday

Speaking from the White House Monday afternoon, President Trump revealed he met with four potential nominees for the Supreme Court earlier in the day. He praised them all as uniquely qualified to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy.

“In the morning I interviewed and met with four potential justices of our great Supreme Court. They are outstanding people, they are really incredible people in so many different ways, academically and every other way and I had a very, very interesting morning,” he said. “I think the person that is chosen will be outstanding."

Trump also said he plans to meet with additional candidates at the White House this week, two or three, before announcing his final choice on Monday July 9.

After spending the day on the golf course Sunday, Trump said his focus this week will be prioritized on the Supreme Court.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders announced Monday morning Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah is being reassigned to focus on getting the president's nominee confirmed. 

"Raj Shah will oversee communications, strategy and messaging coordination with Capitol Hill allies. He will take leave from his role as Principal Deputy Press Secretary to work on the Supreme Court nomination full time," Sanders released in a statement.
