President Trump to Host Summit on MS-13 in New York

President Trump will travel to Long Island, New York Wednesday to host a summit about MS-13 with local leaders.

During his trip, he will emphasize the need for local law enforcement to work with federal immigration agents to get criminals out of America's communities. He'll also call on Congress to close loopholes in current immigration law that embolden the gang to enter and stay in the United States illegally.

"MS-13, these are animals.  They're coming into our country and we're getting them out.  They come in again, we're getting them out.  We need strong immigration laws.  We have the weakest laws in the entire world.  We have laws that are laughed at on immigration," Trump said recently at the White House. "So when the MS-13 comes in, when the other gang members come into our country, I refer to them as 'animals.' And guess what? I always will. But we're getting them out by the thousands. But it’s a big, dangerous job. And they're able, in some cases, to come back in or new groups come in also from the gangs."

The transnational gang has wreaked havoc on a number of New York communities in recent years. In April Democrat New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced a new $18 million investment to combat the satanic criminals.

"New York will not tolerate the monstrous acts and fear that MS-13 has brought to our communities, and by focusing on educating and protecting our young residents, we are furthering our efforts to drive out these violent criminals," Governor Cuomo said in a statement. "The launch of this comprehensive plan invests in critical programming to help stomp out gang recruitment, engage young men and women during and after school, and help protect New Yorkers from being victimized, as we work to eliminate MS-13's presence in this state for good."

During the State of the Union earlier this year, President Trump told the story of two young girls who were brutally murdered in New York by the gang. Her parents were guests of the First Lady.

"Here tonight are two fathers and two mothers: Evelyn Rodriguez, Freddy Cuevas, Elizabeth Alvarado, and Robert Mickens," he said. Their two teenage daughters, Kayla Cuevas and Nisa Mickens, were close friends on Long Island. But in September 2016, on the eve of Nisa’s 16th Birthday, neither of them came home. These two precious girls were brutally murdered while walking together in their hometown," Trump said. "Six members of the savage gang MS-13 have been charged with Kayla and Nisa’s murders. Many of these gang members took advantage of glaring loopholes in our laws to enter the country as unaccompanied alien minors and wound up in Kayla and Nisa’s high school."

"Evelyn, Elizabeth, Freddy, and Robert: Tonight, everyone in this chamber is praying for you. Everyone in America is grieving for you. And 320 million hearts are breaking for you. We cannot imagine the depth of your sorrow, but we can make sure that other families never have to endure this pain," he continued.
