Report: President Trump's Assistant Fired, Escorted Out of the White House

It's been a busy day at the White House after President Trump announced through Twitter Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has been fired and will be replaced by CIA Director Mike Pompeo.

"Mike Pompeo, Director of the CIA, will become our new Secretary of State. He will do a fantastic job! Thank you to Rex Tillerson for his service! Gina Haspel will become the new Director of the CIA, and the first woman so chosen. Congratulations to all!" Trump said.

But Tillerson wasn't the only one shown the door Tuesday morning. According to the Wall Street Journal, President Trump's longtime personal assistant was fired and escorted off of the property.

President Donald Trump’s personal assistant, John McEntee, was escorted out of the White House on Monday, two senior administration officials said. The cause of the firing was an unspecified security issue, said a third White House official with knowledge of the situation.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders declined to comment saying, “We don’t comment on personnel issues.” Mr. McEntee didn’t return a call seeking comment.

But McEntee isn't going far and will reportedly join President Trump's 2020 campaign. 

McEntee's exit comes two weeks after White House Communications Director Hope Hicks, also one of President Trump's longest serving and most trusted aides, submitted her resignation. Her final departure date has not been announced. Gary Cohn, who served as President Trump's senior economic advisor, resigned last week.
