Last month we learned through documents former FBI Director James Comey started drafting an exoneration statement for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton long before agents were finished with their criminal investigation into her mishandling of classified information.

According to new transcripts released by the Senate Judiciary Committee Thursday afternoon, former FBI Director James Comey made the decision not to refer then Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton for prosecution long before ever interviewing key witnesses. Members of the Committee allege Comey made the decision months before FBI agents were finished with the criminal investigation into her mishandling of classified information during her time as Secretary of State.
The transcripts were revealed in a letter sent to current FBI Director Christopher Wray, in which lawmakers are demanding an explanation and more documents surrounding the case.
Now we're learning that not only did FBI counterintelligence officer Peter Strzok change the language in that memo from "grossly negligent" to "extremely careless," someone helped water down the threat from foreign actors who likely infiltrated Clinton's personal server.
In an early draft, Comey said it was “reasonably likely” that “hostile actors” gained access to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s private email account. That was changed later to say the scenario was merely “possible.”
After a scheduling conflict last week, Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe will testify in front of the House Intelligence Committee December 19. He is expected to be asked about text messages Strzok sent to FBI Attorney Lisa Page, in which he referenced a discussion that took place in McCabe's office about an "insurance policy" should Donald Trump with the presidency.
