Over the past week, the President has been consistently vocal about his disappointment is Sessions for recusing himself from the Russia investigation and his new Communications Director Anthony Scaramuuci said yesterday that Trump likely wants the nation's top law enforcement officer to step aside.

During an interview Tuesday with Fox News, former prosecutor and current House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy said if he was is Sessions' position, he'd resign.

"I don't think personnel decisions are usually well resolved over Twitter," Gowdy said. "I don't think Attorney General Sessions had a choice but to recuse himself."

"If I was the Attorney General I would not stay if my employer had lost confidence in me. On the other hand, Attorney General Sessions may believe he's doing the job the way he's supposed to. He doesn't work for the President, he works for a blindfolded woman holding a set of scales," Gowdy said on Special Report. "It is heartbreaking to me to see public squabbling between the commander-in-chief and the nation's top law enforcement officer."

Sessions has publicly stated he isn't going anywhere. A number of conservatives on Capitol Hill and leaders of grassroots organizations have come to his defense.
