For God and Country: Osama bin Laden Killed One Year Ago Today

One year ago today, America learned a highly specialized Navy SEAL team known as SEAL Team VI, killed the mastermind behind 9/11: Osama bin Laden.

The first round, a 5.56-mm. bullet, struck bin Laden in the chest. As he fell backward, the SEAL fired a second round into his head, just above his left eye. On his radio, he reported, “For God and country—Geronimo, Geronimo, Geronimo.” After a pause, he added, “Geronimo E.K.I.A.”—“enemy killed in action.”

"He heard American voices."

I will never forget where I was when I heard the news, will you? We can never thank these men enough for what they do to keep us safe and free. If you're looking for something to do in honor of our Navy SEALs, going to see Act of Valor is an option. Also, be sure to take a moment to remember the SEALs we lost last August in a horrific helicopter attack.
