Arizona Votes to Defund Planned Parenthood

Another win for Arizona, another annoyance for the Obama Administration from the Grand Canyon State.

The Arizona Senate voted today to defund Planned Parenthood by passing the Whole Woman's Health Funding Priority Act of Arizona in an 18-8 vote. The pro-life group Susan B. Anthony list heavily endorsed, spearheaded and supported the legislation along side the Alliance Defense Fund.

“Planned Parenthood’s abortion-centered business model does not need or deserve taxpayer dollars,” said Rep. Marilyn Musgrave, Vice President of Government Affairs for SBA List. “We encourage Gov. Brewer to quickly sign this bill into law. Arizona is leading the charge to protect taxpayers and women from Planned Parenthood and the violence of abortion.”

So far, the SBA List has been extremely successful throughout the country in their efforts to strip taxpayers funds from Planned Parenthood. In 2011, eight states defunded the abortion provider to the tune of $61.7 million and have placed legislation defunding the organization in the state legislatures of Ohio, Iowa, New Hampshire, Oklahoma and of course, Arizona.
